  • Are you considering a move abroad? In this video, we explore the reasons why moving abroad from the US can be a great option for Black expats. We dive into the unique advantages and opportunities that await you in different countries.
    1. No more exposure to the toxic news and current events: the news in the US is anxiety ridden . We aren’t exposed to local news and gossip here in Mexico as a black expat
    2. Cost of living : This was a must when moving abroad as a black expat
    3. Political Turmoil : With the upcoming election political, racial and religious division is going to be a huge issue with this upcoming election in the US
    4. Healthcare : Different countries offer varying standards of living, and you may find that your overall quality of life improves by relocating. Affordable healthcare, lower living costs, and a better work-life balance are just some of the perks you may find overseas as black expats .
    5. Safety: Merida is the second safest city in North America ( including America and Canada). We don’t worry about the cartel here in Merida and feel safe as an black expat!
    6. Weather: It is November and 40 degrees in Boston. As black expats here in Merida we are wearing sleeveless shirts and flip flops at 90 degrees here in Merida!
    7. Quality of Food: We have organic fruits (with seeds) and vegetables here in Merida and eat healthy here as black expats
    Remember, every individual's experience is unique, and there are challenges and considerations to keep in mind when moving abroad. This video aims to highlight the potential benefits for Black expats, but it's important to thoroughly research and plan before making such a life-changing decision.

    The news can be SO stressful ! It’s so nice that you guys can disconnect and relax. Not to mention the ability to get adorable healthcare , sometimes in the US people wait to make sure they really need medical attention because of the high costs of ER and urgent care bills !

    Just saw you on Bills channel. I am here for the month I love it here so far. I am planning to come back in September as soon as mend some loose ends. I am retired from California. I already fill the relaxation and peace. Keeping my self busy at the huge gym they have here. I go there daily for swimming. Well floating. Lol. I came here for this short time to see what I will do and how I will live. So I found it. It is. Just me. Already I am seeing the potential savings. No car. Laundry. Food. I just need to find a place so I can live when I come back.

    Omg yes! I’m not African American but I can really relate to everything you spoke about! I’ve been trying to save up money to move to Merida for all the reasons you moved there. I hope I can get the blank out of this crazy country before the election because no matter what the outcome is, there’s going to be some bad stuff happening. I don’t want to be here if that horrible orange creature wins. I just want to live in peace and calm, like the kind of life you described. I’m so happy for your family, so happy you were able to make this move for your mental and physical health ❤ Bless you

    My question is if you are not retired and don't have a online job etc and move to Mexico how do you support yourself even if the cost of living is much lower you would need some type of income.

      If you don’t have a savings that can sustain your lifestyle an online job, online business or freelancing online would be required to live comfortably abroad.

      If you're middle class and living check to check n want to move up to upper middle class or rich then yes America can be tough. If you're content like most Americans you have a house condo lights food electricity water good plumbing among other western amenities you're probably doing better than most globally. Depends on the individual. If you're rich yes America is your playground from San Diego to NYC to Laguna Beach to Aspen.

    😮 where you bought ed the device against barking dog 🐕?

    • @Expatbarber
      @Expatbarber  5 місяців тому +1

      If you connect this sound to a small outdoor speaker it will help with the barking dogs. It’s a high pitch whistle that humans can barely hear but dogs can usually hear it and they can’t stand the sound.

    But what about the plumbing issues? Cant flush toilet paper down the toilet and cant drink the tap water and its annoying when I'm in Mexico for months and have to keep ordering water and having to put toilet paper in the garbage instead of the toilet. This is gross and unsanitary. But I do love Mexico and please be aware that you're not going to escape discrimination here either. You will be treated differently because you are a foreigner and black. And there are separate prices for foreigners and locals. I found housing is more expensive in mexico with and less amenities than houses in the US. There are pros and cons wherever you live. Big cockroaches is also a deal breaker in terms of where I live.
    In Mexico city you cannot go into a pharmacy and get whatever you want. They require you to see a doctor and get a prescription. They wouldnt even give me an ear antibiotic without a script from a doctor in Mexico city. When i got sick it was nice that I only paid $2.50 to see a doctor. Now, in tourist zones every other store is a pharmacy and they'll let you buy all kinds of medicines that you need a prescription for in the US. I'm in Mexico now. Every area ..city is different in Mexico. Its a matter of what type of environment you like. Me personally, Puerto Vallarta is better than living anywhere in the yucatan peninsula like cancun, playa del carmen, merida, tulum...too touristy.
    These youtubers can make it seem like theres a utopia where black people can live outside the US without discrimination. And let me tell you, these countries oppress the black/darker people in their own countries. Mexico, costa rica, nicaragua, dominican republic, columbia just to name a few. You will not escape racism and discrimination, but you will eat healthier and feel better because food is natural.

    • @Expatbarber
      @Expatbarber  7 днів тому

      We actually live here in Merida and can say that we are treated much better here. If you actually watched our video we said that racism is EVERYWHERE. We can only speak from our personal experience as Black Americans.
      If you actually lived here you would also know that homes with updated plumbing systems similar to the one that we live in has no issues with flushing the toilet paper. Yet another myth about Mexico that you wouldn’t know unless you actually live here.
      We will continue to promote how well we are treated here in Mexico until we have a different experience. There are different options than being in fear of your life. I am not sure if you are Black because of course you have no picture on your profile but the way you discuss this issue you more than likely do not have personal experiences regarding racism in America.
