- To pay tribute to COB's Guitarist Alexi Laiho, I wanted to revisit the entire band's discography.
Even though active since 1993, I discovered them only 4 month ago and I wished I knew about them earlier.
I especially fall in love with the quality and complexity of the songs' composition (harmonic transitions and modulations).
Some would say that their climax was hit before their 5th Album, but I disagree; to me all of their songs were equally great untill now.
As for the reason why I didn't put the last Album "Hexed": I just discovered the previous one "I Worship Chaos" when I heard about Alexi's passing and I just didn't listen to the last one on purpose. Indeed, if I had listened to it, in a way, it would've meant that I would have nothing else to discover from him, and so I wanted to keep being surprised and amazed by his talent.
Pour rendre hommage à Alexi Laiho, le Guitariste et compositeur de Children of Bodom, j'ai voulu passer en revue et jouer toute la discographie du Groupe sous forme de Medley.
J'aurais aimé découvrir ce groupe actif depuis 1993 plus tôt; en effet, leur son m'est parvenu il y a 4 mois de cela seulement, mais il m'a déjà particulièrement marqué.
En effet, j'ai surtout énormément apprécié la complexité harmonique et les transitions tonales élaborées mais également le rythme riche et varié.
Certains disent que seuls les 5 premiers albums sont à la hauteur de leur talent, ce que je conteste; en effet pour moi toute la discographie est d'une qualité exceptionnelle.
Quant à la raison pour laquelle je n'ai pas inclus le dernier album en date, je l'ai fait volontairement.
En effet, alors que j'écoutais l'avant-dernier, j'ai eu vent de la mort d'Alexi et je me suis fait cette remarque que si j'écoutais également le dernier, je n'aurai alors plus jamais l'occasion de découvrir quelque chose de lui; or je veux encore pouvoir être surpris et admiratif de son talent et sa musique un peu plus longtemps.

ამ ვიდეოში ყველა სოლო რათქმაუნდა ვერ შევიტანე და მხოლოდ ერთი ალბომიდან არ შემისრულებია სოლო, (ალბომ "hexed" - დან) იმიტომ რომ მოსმენილი არ მქონდა. ეს ვიდეო ეძღვნება გარდაცვლილი გიტარისტის - ალექს ლაიოს ხსოვნას
P.S.ალბომი "hexed" არ მქონდა მოსმენილი მის გარდაცვალებამდე, სპეციალურად არ მოვისმინე და არ ჩავსვი ვიდეოში, რადგან გარდაცვალებიდან გარკვეული პერიოდის გასვლის შემდეგაც აღმომეჩინა რაღაც ახალი, ჯგუფის შემოქმედებაში.

its good Aleximan did not wait for someone acceptace foreward to his drinking, or anything he does, otherwise we did not have this wonderful music he made.
Its good to have floyd-style-tremolo guitar for Alexistyle playing. For me personally, I dont always use it, as for my feeling the essence of this style high treble and high gain, good fingervibrato, pitch harmonics with nailslides, generally lot of slides, a clean technique and a sound with more reverb and little delay, does it. for the most.
I hope you can scream like Alexi because you could take over for him. Big RIP.

Vraiment ultra génial, le medley :) C'est comme une sorte de voyage dans le temps haha. 3615 ma vie, mais en gros... la plupart des gamins autistes ont un (ou deux) sens plus sensibles que les autres. Moi c'était l'ouïe, déjà gamine à 3 ans j'écoutais en boucle des petits passages de 5 secondes de certains disques vinyle (ce qui saoulait mes parents :D). Des jours durant parfois. Puis après ça, plus rien : mes parents écoutaient de la musique "pop" des années 90 qui n'avait pour moi aucun intérêt donc j'ai oublié l'existence de la musique pendant plus de 10 ans... jusqu'à ce qu'un pote (un catho bien intégriste, ironiquement) me fasse découvrir Children of Bodom, au lycée, en 2001. Et j'ai juste redécouvert la musique, de A à Z :) Chacun des morceaux que tu joues est du coup très fortement associé à un moment spécifique, un souvenir, un goût... Du coup c'est un bonheur à entendre, ce que tu joues là. La mort de Laiho m'a fait très bizarre, mais au final ta vidéo me fait réaliser que quoi qu'il arrive, sa musique restera ancrée de façon définitive dans mon cerveau mal câblé. :) Merci du coup !
Rip to the true guitar hero, You should check out Inearthed which was their first band before they had to change their name to bodom (they have 3 demos that are raw but really great) and synergy that have a couple of albums that are straight fire another band from Alexi pre-Bodom.Your skill is amazing dude.

As a guitarist I can say only one: AMAZING work, I can't even imagine how much time did you spend on learning this stuff. Great work man, you really can kick-ass. BTW: I have the very same amplifier - mustang III, it's pretty cool, but after some time i would change it on some tube amp with boss distortion effect.

Amazing job kid! COB were the bad that first introduced me to metal when I was barely 15 and Alexi was my first idol. They'll always have a special place in my heart.

OoohI was very curious how you were going to play the are you dead yet verse riff without a specially tuned guitar. It seems you ran into the same issues I did trying to do it with a standard 7 string but also in C minor. Amazing you learned all these so quickly.

Malheureusement je me suis intéressé à ce groupe réellement qu'à la mort d'Alexi et je me dis que j'ai bien été con de ne pas écouter plus tôt....Je commence à bien savoir jouer quelques chanson et ce qu'il dit dans sa description de vidéo c'est totalement vrai. Je n'arrive pas à autant m'amuser à jouer de la guitare sur d'autres groupes c'est tellement spécial ! Maintenant il va me falloir un peu de temps avant que je sache tout jouer comme lui mais il joue vraiment bien !

Yes you got it, except there is a difference between using a capo on a 7 string and a drop on a 6: the G string is half a tone higher in that configuration :)

beautiful! It would be great to hear how does one do this? just take a bands discography and start playing by ear?
Yes, I did spend quite some time listening to the albums and then reproducing it by ear; gradually, with repetition, the melodies would come naturally (but I have to admit that having "perfect pitch" does help in that case; that's why I could do all of this in less than 3 weeks).
I would also reproduce it on the piano to get the Harmonies (and for fun too, the Piano being my first and main instrument ^^)

Nice. But why do you not emulate the pitch harmonics and vibrato that are so characteristic for this style guitar playing?
I didn't have a guitar with a floyd rose, so I didn't know about theses technics. Now I have one, I understand that what make Alexi a genius isn't only his composition, but his guitar technic.
But in the next covers, I think I will play the guitar parts more like he plays, since I have now the way to do it ^^.
