I'm an autistic guy in my 20s and have no interest in cars at all. But Ian's enthusiasm, calm and friendly demeanor (without being annoying like a lot of people trying to talk to you about cars) combined with his detailed, technical knowledge is actually holding my attention. You just want to listen to him because you can tell how truly passionate he is about this. He is not trying to brag with his knowledge nor is he "faking" any of this. People will appreciate that. I think if he continues practicing he will become a one of a kind car salesman that people will actually seek out BECAUSE he's different from the rest. I've found people appreciate our "sincere passion" and are willing to listen and captivated even if they aren't interested in the topic. This might also just convince people to buy the car he's trying to sell. From one autistic person to another, keep going Ian, you're gonna be great! Glad you have such a supportive dad, too!
One of the best experiences in all of reality is listening to an autistic person explain something they have fixated on. It is genuinely the most informative, concise, and entertaining way to learn. I wish I could learn everything that way.
Its so much of a cultural shock to watch this kind of videos as a European person. This kind of SUVs are only acessible for the highest earners of our society, even with a loan, but in the US it looks like common preference.
Theyre both common and a luxury. Its just that this kind of expense is a lot more valued in the US than Europe, maybe due to culture, average family size, etc. Any new car or vehicle is a luxury. Used is always a better financial choice, all things being equal, but new cars are super common (even though they're a luxury). Large SUVs have been popular with families since the mid-late 90s. Before that it was all station wagons.
I do car review videos every Wednesday at a car dealership and the boss is so nice. I have over 100 cars I have toured! :) Edit: Great job Ian! I am so proud of you dude!
Very proud of Ian! I am like him but with computers. You can tell he knows so much that sometimes his mouth just isn’t fast enough to get it all out ( i struggle with that too). I think his knowledgability and attention to detail would make him a good driver someday!
Back in the 1980s people still needed to either keep their foot on the brake or use the emergency brake in stop and go traffic. Therefore it sounds like the SUV feature that Ian described in this video that makes this no longer necessary is a fairly new feature that many drivers would probably want.
Car evolution is incredible, especially as Automatic Shifters are increasing, tho As a Sim Racer, Manual is a great skill to learn (tho, teslas im not exactly fond of, there are other better electric cars imo)
You and your wife deserve the best car possible. Congratulations on your new car. I hope you and your family will enjoy it in health and peace for many years. Greetings from Türkiye 😊
I got a paliesade in 2021 and it’s a great car! We shopped all the suvs and this one made me say to my husband “it looks like a mom made it” lol the thoughtful features that even high end vehicles didn’t have. Super happy with it! I didn’t know about the nature sounds so nice for my autistic kid! Good job Ian! ❤❤❤
I always wondered if autism and cars are very compatible, but then I realized this was Ian so he knows more about cars than everyone else in the history of ever.
Great video and very informative. Ian’s communication skills and they he explains things are great. Best of Luck to Ian and will make a great Car’s salesman.
Everyone is different no one is perfect and I’m so proud that Ian can excel to do this see it as a blessing because my friend her son mumbles doesn’t talk at all. ❤
You’re doing a great job Ian you know so much about cars, if that’s what you want to do in the future I’m sure you will. I would definitely buy a car from you well done your amazing.
The stereotype that many people have about people who sell used cars is pretty much like Pete on Goof Troop or the car salesman in the movie True Lies. I think Ian can definitely sell cars as long as he can consistently describe the car’s selling points in an interesting way without having to stretch the truth (As someone who is on the spectrum myself (currently level one, I used to be level two) I can confirm that it is possible to lie if you are on the spectrum but it is not easy to do so. Keeping track of which lies have been told to which people and which ones a given person would find to be believable are especially difficult for me. Therefore I find that it’s easier to just tell the truth.). This means that he may need to find a new way to sell cars but it’s definitely possible to do that even if it might be difficult initially (and even if I probably could not sell cars effectively). Ian already seems to be better at public speaking than I am now (in my late 40s) so I think he has a pretty decent chance of being able to do this.
I think Ian will be able to give more detailed talks about a vehicle after reading the vehicle’s manual cover to cover. Back in the day (during the 1980s) in that fashion I used to know the specifications of certain Subaru and Volkswagen vehicles in that fashion.
I don't think that would be the right car for me but Ian I wish you were the one showing me the car. It took me a while to figure out the auto break button
You can clearly see Ian's passion in cars. I hope can learn to drive soon! I also notice you've been drinking zero sugar pops in recent videos. Any diabetics in the family?
@@socialstoriesforneurotypic1845 I also saw that episode of The Suite Life of Zack and Cody. For me it was one of the funnier and more memorable episodes of that series.
From what I remember back in the 1980s many cars could get around Twenty to Twenty-Five miles to the gallon on the highway. Therefore it doesn’t sound like the numbers have changed that much in the last forty years.
Cool car, I like my Camery because it has good gas mileage, a sun roof, and lots of leg space. The seats are basic but the shape is good, i wish the material was denser though. A lot of fancy seats are annoying shapes to me. I dont want my neck or head down.
I think Kia and Hyundai were in their prime back in the early 2000s unlike nowadays with their new GDI tech engines. My mom had a 2003 Hyundai Elantra GT 5-Speed manual hatch. And that was fun to drive the 1-2 gear tire squeal was something you couldn’t get out of a modern day automatic GDI engine
From what I remember I was about nine or ten when I came of my shell. That was when my interest in computers developed to a sufficient degree that I was able to begin to talk about it and occasionally have some basic conversations about it. I’m currently studying computer networking. Therefore my interest in computers has been fairly consistent for over three decades. Before that I would basically do monologues about a specific make and model of computer and people would ask questions like “Does this kid have an off switch?”. It was only around this age that my doctors realized that I have any intelligence at all. Before that I was pretty much seen as being like a toddler (in part) because I didn’t talk much before that, I was very small for my age, and I was very nervous about routine vaccinations and blood work (because of how uncomfortable it was whenever the needle went in). Due to my sensory sensitivities the feeling of the stethoscope against my skin also bothered me. Also due to a speech impediment my rs come out sounding like an “uh” sound or a “w” sound. (Incidentally this is the same speech impediment that Zuma has in the early episodes of Paw Patrol. I still tend to say my rs this way if I am tired or stressed out.) Regarding my nervousness about doctor’s appointments: The doctors said (back in the 1980s) that I was the only kid at their practice older than about five or six who cried whenever I had a vaccination. I no longer cry when I get one but I am still nervous about them without any logical reason for it.
Thats cool with computers you have! Im learning a lot about computers from my dad and one of my favorite things about computers is that as an arcade gamer, PC’s replaced the Arcade PCB’s (ex. sys573 by konami, Model 1, 2, 3 by sega) And can run just via a PC, especially the games at my favorite arcade, Round1. I think their PC’s use a 1650 Graphics Card for most cabs.
