Or You take the San Diego Freeway to the Ventura Freeway. You drive to the Slauson Cutoff, get out of your car, cut off your Slauson, get back in your car, then you drive six miles till you see the Giant Neon Vice-Squad Cop. - Art Fern
*Love Fred!* I've worked talk shows since Merv Griffin in '79. This was such a delightful, down-to-earth "Hollywood" chat that made me feel 'at home.' I've worked with Fred a couple of times, he's the best on-camera talent any crew member would be blessed to have the experience. L.A. Minute gonna go viral! ~ this weekend ~ Larchmont Village ~
If I ever had a desire to live on the West Coast, I was looking at Torrance or Culver's City. Would love to visit LA. Also, love Fred's music and comedy.
The Museum of Jurassic Technology kinda lives on the idea that you go to a museum to see things you can't see anywhere else. That museum is full of things you can't see anywhere else. From detailed models of trailer parks to decomposing dice... it's a junk drawer of fun.
First time watching. Loved the episode. One of my favorite actors/comedians of all time speaking about L.A. 🙌🏽 I have a few episodes I just uploaded speaking on the topics you touched on if you’re interested! Again, great job!
I loved the 'Big Lebowski/ jobless LA character' sidebar and it sounds like Fred was one of these people. Go to Venice Beach at 11am on a Wednesday. You'll see a dozen people in the skate bowl and dozens more just WATCHING. I lived in LA for 7 years, worked 40 hours a week, got nowhere, and there's these people that just somehow do nothing yet manage to survive. I'm not even talking about the homeless, just this other species. I wish I knew the secret!
Took the 710 freeway south today. My snl cast was probably tina fey time there im 38. I was probably about 17 in 2003 when I could stay up late to watch snl realistically I probably watched mad TV first in the late 90s it was also on pretty early at 10 pm on fox.
The “problem” with the downtown renaissance is that they pushed all the homeless out into the rest of LA. The homeless issue has been around forever but it was “out of sight out of mind” when it was all centered in the hollow husk of downtown. Then they refurbished all the transient hotels into lofts and shoved an extra 10-15k homeless from $200/mo hotel rooms out onto the street. And then the developers stopped the police from rounding up the homeless in other neighborhoods and dropping them downtown, so the issue spilled out into the rest of the city. Whether that’s better or worse depends on your perspective but regardless, it’s been a huge unintended consequence of the revitalization project.
...and after the Museum of Jurassic Technology (or before) you can have a good vegetarian lunch at Govinda's Restaurant at the Hare Krishna community just two blocks west.
Ear IQ. I'm pretty good at identifying voices but I know a guy NOT in Showbiz who has such an amazing ear for voices and voiceovers it is scary -- he will hear and old old old classic commercial and he will calmly say "John Facenda" or "Ernie Andersen" or " William Conrad" - and every time he's 100% correct. Very weird.
Fred Armisen plus LA in a Minute! What a treat! I loved this. I love hearing people’s stories of falling in love with LA
Thank you!!! was so much fun
Fred Armisen's impression of you was spot on 🤣
Haha, right?! He really nailed it! 😂
LA sucks
This was one of the most genuine podcasts I've ever seen. I smiled the whole time, and wish I could have chimed in with all my recommendations too 😂
Who remembers Huell Houser and 'California's Gold' ?!? L.A. in a minute is picking up the torch.
He needs a Luis of his own. “Oh, wow! Hey Luis, get a shot of this!”
Huell was pure Cal Au!
Great episode. You guys nailed it. Especially the Burbank eerie thing 😂
This was a great interview. Thanks to you and Fred.

Los espookys is genius. Loved this talk and I'm surprised he didn't mention the amazing music venues that LA has! He needs to come back!

Missed Point - Highland Park Bowl used to be Mr. T's Bowl , big punk venue for many many years.

Mr T's Bowl. A punk rock iconic place. I would go to see friends perform in the 90s. Censor This Magazine.
Excellent
Thank you so much 😀
He was talking about The Row
This is fantastic, hes funny
Fred Armisen is Christopher Walk-ins... I can never tell if hes playing s character of himself 🧐🤔...
I may not agree with Fred and his politics and all that, but the man is a real talent and I’ll never deny it.
Would have paid good money to have him do a little bit of Nicholas Fehn😂😂😂😂
...and after the Museum of Jurassic Technology (or before) you can have a good vegetarian lunch at Govinda's Restaurant at the Hare Krishna community just two blocks west.
Keenan Thompson is the longest tenure on snl lol
Oh, mi scusi!
Go to Wilshire and Alvarado.

Downtown LA rats are incredible.
If he lived there for 10 years straight he would change his mind
Evan has LA teeth.
