@Underwater 69's oh my mistake
The interest on that amount would be more than most people could earn or spend.
Politicians do it almost every year yet they still get votes
With so much money, I'd just distribute my wealth as evenly as possible to entire humanity such that there's no more poor people who die of hunger. The price they pay to earn my money is their restraint to not have more than 1 child per family and to teach this to all their children. This way I help the world reduce it's population and thus control pollution, competition, crimes and many other things that'd otherwise need a divine intervention. I'd just keep only as much as I will ever need to survive a consistently happy life. Perhaps 1 million dollars at most.

The only reason I'm not gonna like this comment is because you have the perfect amount.
I used to work next to a garage where one of the mechanics won a million. He bought a cheap boat, but payed to have it docked at an expensive marina. He spent the rest of the money partying on the nicer boats when the owners were away, and was broke in a year. He was also proud of that story.

There’s a reason 16 year olds aren’t allowed to play the lottery in most places
Most of these winners had a 16 year old mindset.

Whitaker did about everything wrong you possibly could. First of all, he took a lump sum instead of spreading the payments out which would have been a much better financial option. His lifestyle morphed into drugs and gambling to the point that everyone around him started showing up dead mysteriously. He kept hundreds of thousands of dollars laying around all the time. His house burned down and he didn't have it insured. And he won when he was in his senior and (presumably) wiser years. He's also one of the rare lottery winners who was rich to begin with. What a tragic, senseless story.
Maybe a little more if they would have invested some

@Antonio Childers I agree with you the government don't care f**k parents are to blame to a point. The reason I say that, about parents is because the parents can teach their kids a ton in how to manage money, teach them about life, etc and at the end the parent can only hope all the teachings they showed their kids has sunk in. It's up to the kids to to take that knowledge to use it or not use it.

I have a strong aversion to handing over money without getting something in return. Even if it's just a bar of chocolate. I did once join a lottery syndicate because we were all desperate to get away from our horrible boss, and decided to try our luck. Between over 20 of us I think we won just £10 here and there over about four years. Nothing more. Mug's game.
I have noticed that some people, who have been forever short of money, do go mad when finally they get some. My late partner's daughter burned through the small inheritance he left her in record time, like a kid let loose in a sweet shop. Very soon she had to sell the house he'd left her and return to living in a rented flat in a bad area. Some people are simply not cut out to have money and behave sensibly. I find it very sad that the height of some people's ambition is Vegas, gambling and shows. There's a whole world out there people. Explore it.

Keep the news to myself. Hire a financial advisor, a lawyer...
I’m watching this so I don’t mess up when I win tomorrow
Things to do if I won the lottery:
1) Pay off any debt I had
2) Buy a nice house
3) Put some away for the kids' college funds
4) Adopt a dog
5) Hire some smart ppl to help me invest some of it
6) Save the rest
The guy who won $314M also lost his granddaughter. She OD'd. When your vices become habits, its not indicative of a long lifespan.
Who cares? Fun is more important.
Saw on a cable show he got slipped mickeys at the local bar and they would rob his truck of a lot of cash.Dumbass goober.
@@JeffMcDuffie72MeridianGate Wrong fool!

@@ricomajestic no you are wrong dick weed. Fun is more important then anything when rich.
I really hate it when someone won the lottery and that ex from 5 years ago just comes back trying to take some of those money
Yeah I agree
many people value money more than their own dignity
Hell yeah
If id had such a lottery luck
Id buy myself a new country and earn on it haha
nobody talking about the thumbnail😂
Things I would do, in this approximate order:
1. Start an anonymous trust to receive the winnings and not tell anyone.
2. Lawyer up, get accountants and investment advisors; Pay off bills.
3. Invest in income producing things such as Bonds, safe dividend producing stocks, various real estate cash flow products, etc.
4. Use the cash flow from the those profits to:
5. Help my alma maters.
6. Help local church, cultural, and beneficial interests for the communities I'm involved with.
7. Help the people from my high school class with their difficulties.
8. Not sure.
That's what they all say
I don't care about anything else you said, the moment you said "help church". Just the same as spending it all on drugs.
8. Own a casino
@@kerplunkboydotNET Hahaha sooo damn true man.. i dont get it why you need to help church as they are already making money..
Nah that wont work, the money will still be pissed away.
This is how you do it right.
You find a suitable property that is not in the city. Pay for it with cash, then set up a trust for 100 plus years that pays the property taxes on it with an increasing value of x amount per year, This trust also pays all utilities and maintenance cost along with increase value. This property is now covered by a trust that can not be altered. At a 30k a year for expenses with a 5% increase per year you would need 4 million bucks. This will cover 100 years of this property. With property cost under 1 million you would need 5 million dollars. This is a gross over estimate and will allow the coverage of large maintenance in the coming years. One can increase this cost based on how much one wins and included a car, employees and so on. By doing it this way living is 100% covered by the trust. It does not matter how much money you blow provided you do not get a loan for other stupid stuff... Doing a trust can set up you and a number of people to live a fair life and take care of other family members. You would never have to touch this money and by trust by laws you could not touch this money. This solves most of the lottery winners problems.
