Very helpful, thanks. I live in a very hot country. Don't have a head warmer or heat gun. You reckon a hairdryer could work to warm up the head? Guess I could buy a heat gun. Sadly, here in Dubai, it's getting very hard to buy nitro fuel, just no racers left :(
I have a very similar engine and I can't get any low end on it it is coming off a 20 minute main at 250ish degrees. Could it be the cheap pipe, maybe the 8.5 venturi that I only open the throttle to 7.4 but my Reds usually ran a 6.5 venturi. Just don't want to blow it, but it needs more low end work. Can't make the short run uo low jumps onto table tops and what not. I. Going to cha ge the pipe to a reds 2104 efra I think it is. And see that helps, then maybe change the carb. Good video. 👍
Alot of things u say in the vid are true but way over the top, i have ran many nitro engines and it does absolutely not harm them if you coldstart them, it warms up very rapid, most importent is the running in phase.
THANK YOU, I'm literally watching this video like "THEY DON'T EVEN WARM UP CAR ENGINES!" I hate to hate but this man must suffer from OCD; pulling out gadgets nobody asked for. I'm getting a nitro myself if your wondering why i'm here.
It's not *_absolutely necessary_* to warm them up but it helps tremendously, both for break-in and for getting longer life out of a piston/sleeve/rod. A cold engine with full mechanical pinch is a lot of stress on the rod and the rod's brass bushings. Also, less fuel is wasted warming up even after the break-in is finished, so you can start it up and immediately start running hard and/or tuning it, cause tuning when it's not warmed up yet is pointless. My cheap Wagner 300 heat gun was $14 new at Walmart and has been useful for plenty of other tasks beyond RC nitro engines too. With piston/sleeve/rod sets costing at the lowest about $60 (often $140), plus a gallon of nitro running at least $40, that heat gun pays for itself immediately.
If I guys listen to the words he said first… when breaking in u never want to cold start. He specifically said when breaking in and he’s correct….. pay attention guys
I had a tracstar 28 motor and ruined the break in procedure due to servo issues but tune would never happen so put it junk box but how do u get the turbo glow plug i couldn't find any no manual for motor came with
Cheap rubbish engine and love em!!I’ve got a heap of these! and as the rebuild kits are so cheap they are a good engine to do different port combos but I think you will find most of these to be like most cheap engines there’s virtually no run in as there’s little to no pinch they are rtr if it’s hot it’s good to go!
Nice vid. Hope you keep on sharing your progress on this build . Which plugs Are you use on this Engine ? There Are some vids out here where they claim that the turbo plugs don’t fit this Engine. Im new to Nitro and appreciate good vids like this . 👍
@@Unogarage thanks for the respons . I think im gona buy a trackstar .32 for my savage xl and a .21 for my buggy . I have just run some old RTR engines uptil now so looking foreward to testing something whit more power🙂
i have the same trackstar .21 engine. about 2.5 gallons thru it already and still running strong. makes decent power for the price.
Great information. I don't own a nitro but this gives me some great insight into what to expect if I do get one some day. 💯💯
Best thing you’ll do getting a nitro there such fun, going to be doing a comparison between a nitro and electric basher in a couple weeks
@@Unogarage Cool deal. I will check it out. I like to tinker with things so maybe Nitro would be good for me.

Lucky you bro 😂 it was like minus 1 when I filmed that, yeah a hair dryer would be great
This nitro cars are the best nice video man
Thanks man
Ive never warmed engines up and run full tanks full running them in and never had a problem at all

I've started loads without warming them up and run them in and perfectly fine

Good info thanks
Another tip, don’t use traxxas fuel
Wow! The shop told me it was the best option.
I always crack loose glow plug to start them tighten glow plug up no need to heat up motor crazy 😧 but everyone has there way to start nitro
the video is about how to break in a engine, not how to start it.
@@born2fish838 true
@@born2fish838he did mention on what degrees he prefers to start motor and that’s cause of pinch which starting cold will wear much faster.
What is the factor carb breaking in settings for the TS21
Hi there. Where did you get the engine from? Hobbyking isn’t stocking it anymore.
EBay mate type in track star 21
where can i buy this engine ?

Could you please do something about the volume, your so quiet but everything else is LOUD.
👍
You need to sort your volume out mate
Wow the amount of fuel he is putting though it running it in will be due a check up/ rebuild by the Time he is done 😂
