    Now, before people start saying, "Wait a sec...the PS2 lasted from 2000 to 2013, and the Atari 2600 lasted from 1977 to 1992. How can the Famicom be the longest-lived system of any generation when the NES was discontinued in 1995?", please note that the Famicom lasted until 2003 in its native country of Japan, even though its last game was released in 1994.

    Question, would it be okay to use a USA Sega Master System model 1 AC adapter with the Famicom? I tried the adapter with a Sega Genesis model 1 and it does work.

      We actually recommend that very thing in this video: ua-cam.com/video/36J_Ejnv2qc/v-deo.html
      Today there are cheaper (or at least more common) options available, but it should be perfectly safe.

    Do any Famicom games have functions for Start and Select on Player 2? And does this maybe explain why only Player 1 can pause in many games, even in the US?

    • @SeanOrange
      @SeanOrange 9 років тому +1

      In Mega Man 3 you can do a trick with the P2 start button, which come to think of it may have been a debug trick since the Famicom doesn't have those buttons, and the NES (and possibly a dev kit) does.

    • @xnamkcor
      @xnamkcor 9 років тому

      That's Orange Save in Zelda is Up+A or something? So that's not under that category. Now to find a list of NES games that use the 2-Player Start or Select.

    DC adapters work on US NES's both Classic toasters and the NES2. Also use the same one for my super famicom. Having enough current is the best way to prevent a fire though. Its ok if you have a DC adapter with more current than required but if you have too little it can cause the adapter to get really hot and or start a fire. Also always make sure you have the proper voltage and polarity.

    I have a question about the AC adaptor. For the AV Famicom, are we allowed to use the AC adaptor from Famicom HVC-001 model to AV Famicom? Thank you.

    • @SeanOrange

      The Famicom, AV Famicom, and Super Famicom all use the same power adapter.

      It's made under license, not quite the same as Sega manufacturing them. Also, the Zilog Z80 is still in production, which makes that possible.

    Why did no cart based console after the Famicom, allow any company to use their own cart molds on official titles outside of EA Genesis titles or certain colored carts?

    • @FamicomDojo
      @FamicomDojo  9 років тому +2

      Orion Ake Nintendo allowed companies to make their own carts in the Famicom days. The NES not so much. The practice was probably just standardized across continents when the Super Famicom came out.

    AS said here, Do NOT use a NES power supply on a Famicom... because the polarity is reversed and you WILL fry your console!
    However, you CAN use a Sega Genesis Model ONE power supply (NOT the Model 2, 3, Nomad, or 32X one) and it will also work on your PC Engine Core Grafx... you DO have one of those, right?

    The fam com was not Nintendo first game console Nintendo's first video game console was a pong machine

    • @FamicomDojo
      @FamicomDojo  6 років тому

      Totes. But it was the first one that used cartridges, hence the careful wording in the video. (And if you want to get super technical, there were five of them, and none of them played pong, but a knock-off called Light Tennis.)
