Given the emotional arc of Robbie's Barbie, I think it would be kind of weird for the movie to get so many noms and be this big without her getting a nomination. She's doing more than what you would expect.
I think the big problem for her is that she's lead while Ryan is supporting. But I also think she's fine as a 5th place in the category if the momentum keeps.
I think Margot Robbie did such a good job. She was made for this role, like Jack Sparrow for Johnny Depp. And she was a producer too, she was the one who called Gerwig. She got this role for herself. I’d love to see her getting nominated.
I can't believe Amy Schumer was Mattel's original choice and wanted her to write the damn script. Glad it went to Margot. Amy as Barbie and writing the script would've been far worse than what we got right now especially storywise
I think even tho Ryan Gosling did steal the show, it's a fact Margot simply delivered her Best Performance Ever last year with Babylon (and tbh, one of the best performances in cinema History) and still didn't get a nomination, while Ryan was more kinda chillin' with The Gray Man action movie. If Ryan gets nominated here, he's most likely to Win (since he also didn't win in La La Land where he also did tremendous job). So I think, if Ryan wins the Oscar, it will be extremely embarassing over all for the movie to have him winning and Margot not even nominated, knowing that even tho Ryan did steal the show, Margot definetly was the Secret Key for the movie, because without someone delivering such a perfect and relatable performance as she did... the movie itself just wouldn't have worked in the first place! And we also have to remember how Barbie just officially became Margot's most Defyning and Iconic role. As much as her performance as Harley Quinn will always be one of the Best Icons in pop culture and undiably better, this one was just Massively obvious how she was literally Born To Play this role. And honestly, I don't think Margot is that far of winning with this one neither. So I think the Academy has a big choice this time, they either nominate this movie only in technical stuff (really hope they don't do that), or they will give the Best Supporting Actor and Best Picture nominee, with then in conclusion adding the Best Actress. And I honestly really want them both to win!!!!!😫 Maybe we can even get Cillian Murphy winning Best Actor, and it would be Barbenheimer in the Best Actor and Best Actress wins😍😍😍😍😍 SO ICONIC Fingers crossed
saw Barbie earlier today - I live in Scotland and when I tell you the girlies went all out, I'm not exaggerating. On my bus to the theatre, all the girls were in their Barbie get-up. In the mall, every other group of girls we passed were in head-to-toe pink. In the movie itself, it was literally a sea of pink, smiling, excited young girls, children, mothers, and adult friend groups. It felt like a national holiday. Very fun and singular experience, that's for damn certain - I'm not sure if I've seen this type of widespread support and joy towards a film since, like, the early Harry Potter days.
i wore my hello kitty t shirt (i dont own any pink rip) to oppenheimer and i wore all black to barbie people thought it was hilarious (i saw a ton of black in the oppenheimer theater and a ton of pink in the barbie theater) and like u said it made me so happy it reminded me of seeing little girls wearing their elsa dresses to frozen 2/children wearing spiderman outfits for spiderverse
I think it’s brilliant how Mattel addresses the controversy about their product and showcases it head on. Unlike Disney which seems eager to overcorrect their past through their live action adaptations.
Completely it’s reignited the world love of cinema’s it’s been a while since I went to the cinema it used to be a weekly thing and being back I realised how much I loved it and it’s amazing to see Cinema’s full again like pre covid
Greta Gerwig has been one of the most versatile filmmakers in recent memory...from lady bird to little woman to barbie, I'm pretty excited for whatever her next project is....
its narnia, which makes me even more excited. not only cause its one of my favorite directors in one of my favorite book series, but because narnia is a fantasy coming of age, something she does so well, and i cant wait to see her take
Well, they actually are all very similar. All coming of age films about womanhood. But it's normal. But I hope she goes a little away from this theme and explore other themes.
I’ve seen people call this movie “anti-men” and that is some of the biggest bs I’ve ever seen. Did they sleep through the scene where Barbie acknowledges that neither her nor Ken’s societies were right, and that he needed to find out who he was for himself? And honestly, they point out and criticize one of the biggest double-standards towards men, openly crying/showing emotion. I applaud normalizing such feelings, and that scene really spoke to me as someone who has had panic attacks and been told to “man up” far too many times. This is not “anti-man” or “feminist propaganda,” this is true gender equality, showing both sides of the problem. I know this is a bit heated for a discussion on Barbie, but I’m tired of great cinema getting trashed for being “too political.”
I saw how quietly, Ken's feelings were highly ignored . His needs and wants, just ignored. He didn't even have a house. And the boys were in competition with each other. They didn't have the comradity that women seem to find. That was addressed and I felt that
It is anti men because it pretends that men aren't drafted or victims of domestic abuse in the real world. The patriarchy, if it can be said to exist, protect women. (And don't come with the bs that men do war, women use to give white feathers to men to call them cowards for not drafting.)
I’d really like to see Margot Robbie nominated, I’d even prefer her over Gosling getting a nomination. This is a career defining role for her and she has such star quality the entire runtime. She lit up the screen and did so much in the performance. Loved it!
The movie was just so … wholesome. I cried more than I laughed. And it is weird to feel this way about a project that can be described as a corporate pr exercise, but here we are.
I think so too. If not lead actress, she’ll get nominated for best picture if the movie gets nominated, since she’s a producer on the film. I wouldn’t get it if they nominate Gosling but not her.

SPOILER: It was way funnier than I expected. The Narrator interrupting Barbie crying about being ugly to make a note to the filmmakers about not casting Margot Robbie if you want to make that point lmao. The immediate break into the Depression Barbie commercial. Ruth Handler’s ghost having an office at Mattel. The end where it seemed like Barbie was going to a job interview but it was a gynecologist appointment.
"The Narrator interrupting Barbie crying about being ugly to make a note to the filmmakers about not casting Margot Robbie if you want to make that point lmao" Probably the best joke in the entire movie, i love it lol. And it was quite ballsy that the movie managed to criticized Mattel, was surprised Gerwig and Baumbach managed to get away from it

Both Gosling and Robbie were great, perfect for their roles. What Greta did with this story was genius and really poignant. Everything did fit together although be warned... there are a number of long speeches, but they're great, especially Ferrera's!
I loved how you could still see so much of what makes Gerwig’s films special in Barbie despite the corporate oversight from Mattel. She’s truly a generational talent
This is the best review I've seen of Barbie so far, and I agree on all points! Really enjoyed your extensive, in-depth analysis regarding each aspect of the film, especially the social commentary and how these topics are important to our own lives. 10/10 movie for me! Love every bit of it.

"Will you villainously advocate to gatekeep movies like Barbie from getting in the Best Picture conversation?" Best review-ending question ever. The phrasing is hilariously over-the-top . . . as it makes a serious point. You do the same thing Greta Gerwig does with the movie!
It’s probably because I’m a Billie Eilish fan and I’ve been listening to What Was I Made For for the last week on repeat but I noticed the melody of the song being used as score for a couple of moments throughout the movie and it really feels more like an Original Song winner because it carries the central message of the main character and the lyrics are so moving… BUT it would be interesting to see a second Oscar for Original Song being awarded to a song sang by Gosling who’s not actually a singer currently (after City of Stars).
Was really looking forward to Barbie but it disappointed me. I feel like an outsider seeing everyone else love it. I thought Gosling was very good but maybe he was overhyped a bit and Margot and Micheal Cera were also stand outs. I loved the production design so much I hope it wins the Oscar for that and I enjoyed all the clever uses of Classic Barbie’s like the creepy skipper doll with the growing breasts. Beyond that though I wasn’t a fan of much else I liked the messages it was going for but it was too on the nose for me like having America Ferrera just say all the themes was lame to me. I would say about a third of the jokes worked for me and I dreaded any times the human characters were in it. Glad everyone else loved it but I was bummed it wasn’t for me.
You are absolutely not alone. The marketing for this movie was spectacular, the movie, not so much. I think it'll have a great opening, but then fall off a cliff (rightly so) afterwards.
I walked out of the theater loving it. But every moment since, I like it lesser and lesser. The real world characters are a pain to watch and felt like they were straight out of recent MCU films.
@@ChrolliForeverThere is a good chance that the movie "The Color Purple" will be released until 2024 due to the actors' strike. "Variety" The Golden Globe would already be for Margot Robbie.
Saw it Wednesday night in Sydney & was a great packed cinema. I can't wait to see it again. Margot & Ryan did such a great job & when America did her monologue the entire cinema gave it a round of applause. It WAS the funnest movie ever because it was so relatable. Empty fluff is incapable of entertaining me because I’m not emotionally invested in it. The only ppl upset that it pokes fun of their worldview totally MISS that it also pokes fun of opposing worldviews. It essentially agrees and disagrees with all of us. I feel America Ferrera deserves a supporting actress nomination. I really do.
I have been really curious as to what you guys think about it. Very excited for the next oscar predictions video PS I thought Oppenheimer was a lot better. But I want to watch both again
I thought so too. Oppenheimer was laser focused and had perfect pacing. I was surprised by how poor the Barbie script was honestly. Maybe it’s the weight of the expectations I went with. I’m not sure. But the film didn’t have any semblance of a plot at all (I’m fine with this) and just used some low hanging fruit feminist messaging to resolve all conflicts. I wish the film was as profound as people are saying it was.
I thought Oppenheimer was terrible. Way too long and long winded. It also had no empathy or emotional depth. The effects of what Oppenheimer‘s invention had on real people were completely brushed off especially during the testing of the bomb. So many soldiers were psychologically and physically effected by the bomb. It was so bright that they could see every vain and bone in their hands. Most soldiers couldn’t reproduce and had cancer afterwards. The people around the area of the testing were also deeply effected by it. The overall damage of his invention wasn‘t conveyed very well which made the message of the movie unclear and the weight of being called the father of the atomic bomb. There needed to be some contrast to Oppenheimer‘s view to challenge the audience. The only interesting part was the last conversation he had with Einstein and the end of the interrogation. The sex scenes with Florence Pugh were completely unnecessary. Oppenheimer was very promiscuous in real life but there was no focus on other affairs he had which were more important.
I love dry/satire humor so I'm probably going to love this movie. I also had a feeling that it would be existential when I heard (on repeat, mind you) Billie Eilish's song. I also love Greta, obviously. Plus, you guys have great taste, so that reinforces the fact that I'll probably love this movie. I also predicted Best Picture Nom. I can't wait to see it.
I haven’t seen Oppenheimer yet, but I must say this movie definitely lived up to my expectations and more so. Loved everything about it. I definitely think this is going to get a lot of attention at the Oscars. Me personally I thought Greta Gerwig deserved the adapted screenplay Oscar the year they gave it to JoJo rabbit. I’d love to see her and Noah Baumbach win for this. Thanks for the amazing review guys.
This comment just made me realize that they can finally honor both Greta and Noah with one movie lmao. I just worry how they’ll swing with either original or adapted screenplay
@@danthemovieman6476 I’m for some reason thinking The Holdovers but idk I’m feeling it’ll be another 2021 situation where the Holdover gets 3-4 noms and doesn’t win any and is basically this years licorice pizza
I had so much fun!. I laughed in places that were not jokes… & also most of the jokes. It was just reality of what’s already going on…. It was beautifully designed, with so many random references (Also love your cat)
Barbie was and always has been my hero. She was everything. This whole movie had me crying my eyes out. It was beautifully done and did something beautiful inside me. I loved it.
SPOILERS I found very little of it funny, but I also strongly disagreed with the film's thesis. It felt less like poking fun at both sides to me and more like making a statement about how the patriarchy should be replaced with a matriarchy. The Barbies learned nothing at the end and literally make a point to be as bad to the Kens as men are to women. That's essentially where the movie started, but the Kens are allowed to earn the right to have more power. Is that supposed to be a positive sign of growth or a representation of the slow progress of women's rights? Why not just allow the Kens to build their own town or be given fully equal rights? By the end of the movie, the Kens are still homeless, right? So, how good are the Barbies really? Have they learned anything despite the fact they were the oppressors (roughly equivalent to 1950s American husbands)? Are they punishing the Kens for taking over after the Gosling Ken comes back with the idea of patriarchy? From my perspective, they did that because Kens were never respected by the Barbies (or other Kens). The society of Barbies as a whole NEVER acknowledges their mistreatment of the Kens. They ARE the establishment. How are they the good side we're supposed to be rooting for?
I think Margot Robbie may get nominated because the movie was so perfect, and she was Barbie. So I think it would be kind of hard for her not to get nominated for carrying the biggest movie of the year
Hasbro must be ripping out their hairs with the performance of Dungeons and Dragons earlier this year (which should have done better). But yes, such a big swing for WB and Mattel and so glad that it is being rewarded.
I'm so torn, it was very very funny, but there were a few scenes that got too heavy handed and made me feel bored, because it had very good pacing otherwise. I just don't feel it concluded and brought together all it's ideas perfectly. I have to rewatch Barbenheimer, becuase I feel I need to give both another chance.
I'm glad you guys enjoyed it, but I must be honest... I had way too many issues with it. It's ambitious and creative enough that I still recommend it and I did love the ending, but I feel this movie got so caught up in what it was saying that it forgot to develop some really important characters... my biggest issue is with America Ferrera and her daughter. The speech she gives feels unearned because, outside of her daughter hating her, we don't really get a sense of her struggles as a woman. If we had spent more time getting to know her and seeing her interact with her world, and even seen her interact more with her Barbie outside of the plot with the Kens, everything we see from her would have rung differently and I feel it would have made that part of the story satisfying. We also spend so much time with the Ken story that I wound up having more sympathy for their plight than for the Barbies (also because of how good Ryan Gosling is in the role), and yes, there came a point where I just felt the movie was talking at me rather than telling me a story I could engage with. All of this made for a rather unsatisfying experience, even if there was so much working in the film (the visuals, the performances, many of the jokes... I particularly love that 2001: A Space Odyssey parody that opens the film).
My biggest issue was America Ferrera’s character and her daughter, too. We really don’t know her at all. And her daughter is the typical annoying brat. I think America’s performance was good, but her and her daughter are not characters we really know anything about. And I do think that’s something that holds it back some. But the comedy, visuals, and performances are really good, and I had a lot of fun with it, and even want to see it again.
I think they wanted us to feel sympathy for the plights of ken..because kens are the women of barbielnad..little stuffed for me but still enjoyed a lot
@@EamonKelly putting a transgender Barbie in the movie, among other obvious things. Woke ideology states that all things in our society are set up to oppress supposedly marginalised groups, and sets about correcting these oppressions. I just came back from watching it at a matinee screening. Certainly a lot to unpack, and very well done. 10 out of 10. I genuinely felt for Ryan Gosling’s Ken and his existential struggle. Alas, right at his pivotal scene with Barbie as I was crying my eyes out, the teenagers in the audience were simultaneously laughing uproariously at this Ken and his pathos. Quite the roller coaster of emotions, let me tell you 💁🏻♂️💓
I respectfully disagree when you guys say its a funny movie. I didnt laugh a single time. The humour in this movie didnt really work for me. In the theater I went to, nobody laughed. Not even a single time. I agree with what you say about production design though. Its absolutely incredible and I don't see any other movie beating Barbie in this category (maybe Killers of the Flower Moon since they build an entire town or maybe Wonka, since the production design looks awesome in that movie too). I also liked the cinematography in Barbie (same cinematographer of Killers of the Flower Moon). But in terms of what people are talking about Ryan Gosling deserving an Oscar, I really disagree with this as well. He was good, but not Oscar worthy. Ryan Gosling is probably getting the nomination but I dont think he can compete with Robert Downey Jr or Robert De Niro. They had other great actors like Kingsley Ben Adir, and they give him absolutely nothing in this movie. Not a single interesting line. I feel like the screenplay is very weak, they had so many interesting characters but the arcs are just bad. Theres no character development in 90% of the characters in this movie. I'm glad you guys enjoyed the movie, but I would never give this movie a screenplay nomination, and even less a Best Picture Nomination. It deserves noms for Costume Design, Production Design, Makeup and Hairstyle and possibly Best Original Song and Cinematography nominations. So in my opinion it would get 4 or 5 nominations total. Anyway, just my two cents. Would rate this one 6/10

I'm so glad The Oscar Expert's agree with me. Had a debate the other day where people said it won't get nominated for BP. It will. 81% Metascore, relevant subject manner and will be the second highest grossing film of the year. Win? Probably not. But a nomination is lock. Edit August, 2023: It has a shot to win BP. I can't see why everyone isn't putting barbie and oppenheimer in the top 3 picture. Why would you award Scorsese another picture win (even if its great) when probably not a lot of people are going to see it. Funny that Oppenheimer you grasped for straws pointing out “flaws”, but Barbie is perfect. When several jokes don’t land, there was moments of complete silence in the cinema, several characters were just props, and some of the dialogue was though, and most of the real world stuff doesn’t work. Every moment that was about Barbie, ken and their self discoveries were fantastic, the film delivers its message brilliantly, and the final act is so entertaining and touching. But the film is far from a 10.

This movie will always be a pop-culture phemanon (at least due to Barbenheimer), and most people will start remembering Margot as "The Barbie actress that is also Harley Quinn".
So I think the Academy has a big choice this time, they either nominate this movie only in technical stuff (really hope they don't do that), or they will give the Best Supporting Actor and Best Picture nominee, with then in conclusion adding the Best Actress.
And I honestly really want them both to win!!!!!😫
Maybe we can even get Cillian Murphy winning Best Actor, and it would be Barbenheimer in the Best Actor and Best Actress wins😍😍😍😍😍 SO ICONIC
Fingers crossed
Isn’t gal gal dot firstly called for this role?😊
saw Barbie earlier today - I live in Scotland and when I tell you the girlies went all out, I'm not exaggerating.
Can’t wait to see it! I’m seeing Oppenheimer first (tomorrow) but will catch this next week
i wore my hello kitty t shirt (i dont own any pink rip) to oppenheimer and i wore all black to barbie people thought it was hilarious (i saw a ton of black in the oppenheimer theater and a ton of pink in the barbie theater) and like u said it made me so happy it reminded me of seeing little girls wearing their elsa dresses to frozen 2/children wearing spiderman outfits for spiderverse
I think it’s brilliant how Mattel addresses the controversy about their product and showcases it head on. Unlike Disney which seems eager to overcorrect their past through their live action adaptations.
I really think July 21st 2023 is gonna be a day that will be remembered in future film history books.
Barbie woke boycott barbie forcing harmful message on to children

I whole heartily agree. I’m 52 and loved these guys, this movie does it all and the guess what the equal rights amendments hasn’t passed.
Narnia. She is directing Narnia movies for Netflix.
its narnia, which makes me even more excited. not only cause its one of my favorite directors in one of my favorite book series, but because narnia is a fantasy coming of age, something she does so well, and i cant wait to see her take
Ladybird was brilliant but let's not get carried away here.😅😅
Well, they actually are all very similar. All coming of age films about womanhood. But it's normal. But I hope she goes a little away from this theme and explore other themes.
LOL, not even close.
That was addressed and I felt that
@@Elizabeth-l9y8j and the point is again - HE needs to work that out. It's NO ONE ELSE'S responsibility to go find HIMSELF.
Loved it!
This is the best review I’ve seen so far in terms of astutely commenting on the deeper themes and motifs of the movie. Thanks for sharing!
Absolutely agree!!!
The movie was just so … wholesome. I cried more than I laughed. And it is weird to feel this way about a project that can be described as a corporate pr exercise, but here we are.
I actually think Margot can get nominated.
I think so too. If not lead actress, she’ll get nominated for best picture if the movie gets nominated, since she’s a producer on the film. I wouldn’t get it if they nominate Gosling but not her.
If Johnny Depp can get Oscar nominated for Jack Sparrow in the first Pirates movie, might as well Margot as Barbie 😂
She can, of course, but will she? All depends on the quality of other lead actresses between now and the end of the year.

@@Kituchxy Oh,so well said. Especially about that Cillian Murphy part.
SPOILER:
It was way funnier than I expected.

Right on! I so agree with your comment. Other reviews I've watched, the men are a little bent out of shape.
It was such a fun movie but don't you think some messages were heavy handed
Feminist movies have been made for decades and you don't have to hate men to empower women.
@@BishopWalters12 i don't think this movie hates man. Its no Charlie’s Angels reboot. It gives ken a lot of screen time and best jokes. It makes fun of man for sure but a lot of comedy made fun of women for so many years...its all fun..nobody is hating at least in this film but sure poking jokes
@@amimim69 They're laughing at Ken, not with him. I don't disagree with the gender politics but it also relies on a ton of strawman arguments against the most stereotypical "toxic male" mindsets.
She’s truly a generational talent
very true, but the corporate oversight definitely hindered the movie a lot

I absolutely adored the film! I would love to see it get a Picture nomination, and also a chance for the production & costume design to win Oscars. I would like to see Margot Robbie get nominated but I feel like that she’s currently in the Top 10 of contenders for Actress.

"Will you villainously advocate to gatekeep movies like Barbie from getting in the Best Picture conversation?" Best review-ending question ever. The phrasing is hilariously over-the-top . . . as it makes a serious point. You do the same thing Greta Gerwig does with the movie!
I love that you both wore pink for the review, love your reviews and loved your shirts haha
You are not alone. It was a disaster for me, too. I really was hyped and tried to love it.
And it's completely ok as long as you are respectful of your opinion on the film, I think all opinions and thoughts are valid.

The only ppl upset that it pokes fun of their worldview totally MISS that it also pokes fun of opposing worldviews. It essentially agrees and disagrees with all of us. If you can laugh at yourself you’ll enjoy it.
I feel America Ferrera deserves a supporting actress nomination. I really do.
Laura Dern’s feminist speech gave her an Oscar. America should get a nomination at least
I loved this movie so much. I wore a barbie outfit to the theaters TWICE.
I have been really curious as to what you guys think about it. Very excited for the next oscar predictions video
PS I thought Oppenheimer was a lot better.

I think it has a better chance at winning if it goes adapted. To me Original Screenplay is already going to Past Lives

SPOILERS
I found very little of it funny, but I also strongly disagreed with the film's thesis.
Cute Ken fits!
I think Margot Robbie may get nominated because the movie was so perfect, and she was Barbie. So I think it would be kind of hard for her not to get nominated for carrying the biggest movie of the year
That would be the funniest thing ever after babylon sadly missed all the major noms
Think of Arrival. 9 Noms and not Amy Adams, who carried the whole Movie.
@@ChrolliForever that was the biggest snub in the past decade. Still can’t believe it.

I WANT A BARBIE AMUSEMENT PARK

Quite the roller coaster of emotions, let me tell you 💁🏻♂️💓
Tell brother bro that Mattel is selling the "I Am Kenough" hoodie from the movie! It's currently available for pre-order. :)
What about Rhea Perlman?! She was great! I wasn’t expecting her to be in it.
If a lot of these upcoming fall releases get pushed to 2024 due to the strikes, this movie could end up getting a lot of attention at the Oscars.
Anyone know if these guys have reviewed SOUND OF FREEDOM?

Taking away credit from Scorsese cause not many people are gonna watch his movies is as dumb as taking credit from Gerwig for making only "girls movies"
@@brunomendoza3132I disagree about it not being a true addition to culture- I mean wednesday trended for a few weeks sure, but the Barbie brand is hugely cultural already, and people have been talking about this movie for months BEFORE it came out.
@@TaniScoots while I would agree to acertain point that Barbie is a bigger thing unlike Wendsday, the marketing budget is way different from one to another. And barbie has more on her belt than Wensday or the adams family in general regarding brand and IP.
The whole talking for months I disagree cause there was nothing to talk about, but there was a lot to see about like the filters, outfits, etc. Now that its out, we will finally see how much of an impact this movie is gonna have.
@@brunomendoza3132 brands that had nothing to do with barbie are endorsing new products that are bright pink and slapping barbie as a collaboration with their brand, EVERYONE is dressing up in pink to see it, how is that not one of the biggest impact culture wise a movie has done?
Dig the shirts gentlemen 👕 … another great review, thank you
My problem is that most of commentary on gender was tell rather than show but the movie was still pretty fun
Funny that Oppenheimer you grasped for straws pointing out “flaws”, but Barbie is perfect. When several jokes don’t land, there was moments of complete silence in the cinema, several characters were just props, and some of the dialogue was though, and most of the real world stuff doesn’t work. Every moment that was about Barbie, ken and their self discoveries were fantastic, the film delivers its message brilliantly, and the final act is so entertaining and touching. But the film is far from a 10.
King Brother Bro, would you please give us the Android app before award season is in full blown? No pressure!
Seque - I love the pink/green leaves shirt - where did you get it?
Hi Ken! Hi Ken! I love your shirts !!
This film gives its audience a feast of pop culture references. I LOVED it and can't wait to rewatch.
Having depressed Barbie watching BBC's Pride and Prejudice for seven hours straight is seriously something i never knew i needed.I actually did the Leonardo DiCaprio pointing meme when that scene showed up lol
I feel 50% of people absolutely love this and 50% of people absolutely hate it and thinks it’s sexist 💀
10/10 - more like KEN/KEN
So ahead of your Oscars update: you are talking about a Downey vs Gosling narrative in Supporting Actor. Does that mean De Niro is moving down? How do you see that?
De into already has two Oscar’s, unless he completely transforms into an unrecognisable role I don’t see him winning another one with him being just great
@@marcochen9117 yeah that would probably be the case. RDJ and Gosling both have multiple nominations under their belt without winning, so they would make a pretty good case. But De Niro has been snubbed on so many occasions as well...
The August predictions video is going to be fun
@@blabla48076 well Deniro's only notable snub in nominations was probably irishman. I mean he almost won for silver linings playbook.
I'm Just Ken would also give them a chance to reward Ryan Gosling w/o giving him the Supporting Actor win (if they want to give that to RDJ, whom I agree has the edge)
I don't know if you know Critical Drinker but it would be awesome if you could have a discussion with him about this movie. He trashed it but you're giving it a 10. I enjoy both of your styles...
Hate brings big viewership number and helps to grow ur channel fast. There will always be those hate mongers.
Critical drinker is a bellend that thrives on hate and controversy
I feel like trying to have a civil discussion with the critical drinker would not end well
so far this the only good review ive seen by men cause as of rn all the men whatching this seem to feel attacked even though the movie litterly talkes about men being thwm truselfs insted of putting on a fassage to feel respected. like man they people who whatched this movie wernt waching it
As for gender being a social construct..Try explaining why young monkeys play with wheeled toys if they're boys and dolls if they're girls !
Why would a monkey like a truck when they don’t even know what that is? Is rolling things with wheels back and forth masculine?
@@TheOscarExpert Dogs know what a car is,they can't wait to jump in the back, never mind a more intelligent primate who shares 98.6% of our dna !..All young male primates show more interest in things they can move around or throw like a ball whereas females will tend to cuddle anything small with a head two arms and two legs..Practicing for motherhood
Dogs only know what a car is once they’ve been for a car ride. Even then, they probably wouldn’t think that a toy car is the same as a car. You actually think animals intuitively understand what cars are with no context?
@@TheOscarExpert Also chimps actually make wooden spears to hunt with and the females actually use them more since they lack the physical strength of the males to quickly kill prey..But they prefer toy dolls to cuddle due to their nurturing instinct..They don't play with spears just use them when necessary..Just like women don't collect guns but make very good snipers in actual wars..
I’m so proud of Greta Gerwig and everything that she has done. I love hearing people talk about this film on the internet, in real life, it’s all anyone can talk about. And anytime I do hear anyone talk about it, I think of greta
The best way to figure out if someome is misogynistic is to ask about their opinion on this movie
Living for this
Barbieland sounds like a paradise! The women do all the work and the men surf and workout!!!
I dont know that was the messaging they were wanting to do...
When they kept getting arrested, how did they keep getting released without $$$ for bail? That plot point made no sense.
