One super cool thing about this switch is that no matter the tempo you have stored as favorite, you can engage the tap switch while El Capistan is not engaged, and tap in El Capistan a new tempo, then when you engage El Capistan, the favorite will be set with the new tempo
I'm considering buying the Dig pedal and the Tap Favorite to go with it. I think you addressed this previously in the comment section, but I want to make sure I understand: once the saved preset has been engaged using the Tap Favorite pedal, is it still possible to use the tap tempo on the main pedal to control adjust the tempo of the delay? Thanks for your time.
Yes, the on-board tap tempo switch will still change the tempo no matter what the state of the pedal is (Favorite or manual). However, if you change the tap tempo while the Favorite is engaged, when you disengage the favorite, the tempo will revert to the position of the time knob, and you will need to re-tap the tempo.
just the one i think. and then when you turn it off, you use whatever live settings are displayed. so effectively two 'presets' can be accessed in a live setting.
@Alex Padilla - The Favorite switch does not recall additional presets on the TimeLine, I'm afraid. The EXP jack on the TimeLine will only work with a TAP switch or an expression pedal.
Hi Guys, I have the Flint and I'm wanting to add this favourite switch to my board. Could you please tell me how long the trs cable is? Because of my current board layout I would need the switch to be away from the pedal by something between 20 to 30cm. Fantastic pedal btw :)
+Davide Rollins The TRS cable that comes with our MiniSwitch is 18" long, but you can use your own TRS cable at the length you need with this instead of the supplied cable.
I just tried this on a DIG V1 and it didn't work. The way I got mine to work was for the Mini switch to be off, hold down the Bypass switch and then engage the Mini Switch to save. The online manual didn't distinguish this either.
+baplaso1 The Favorite switch can be used to toggle between the stored Favorite setting and the manual setting of the knobs on the face of the pedal. You still need to use the BYPASS footswitch to turn the effect on and off so you can toggle between the Favorite and Manual setting while the pedal is bypassed.
This pisses me off. The strymon multiswitch plus is supposed to basically be like 3 of these in one, for controlling 1-3 pedals simultaneously, or accessing 3 presets for one pedal. The thing is, with this single favorite switch, you can save a preset, and then when you turn the switch off, the preset turns off, and the pedal reverts to whatever live positions the knobs are currently on, effectively giving you access to two "presets" live. However, the multiswitch plus will only load a preset, or bypass the pedal completely when turned off. It does not revert back to the pedals live knob positions until you reach down and turn the knobs with your hand which defeats the entire purpose. You could have 6 easily accessible presets, becasue with my Zelzah, each side has a button and you can turn both sides on to have a combined effect, so that's 3 live settings, plus the footswitch is supposed to add 3 presets, but instead it replaces all live settings with only the presets and then bypass mode. Effectively adding, well nothing.
The Favorite Preset will always recall with the delay time that it was saved with. So if you tap a tempo in manual mode, and recall the Favorite preset, that preset will be recalled with the delay time you saved it with.
+jcows12 There actually was never an expression Fav jumper. This can be changed as a power-up mode by setting both toggle switches to the top position (FIXED/Mode A) for expression pedal control or middle position (Multi/Mode B) for Favorite switch and powering up the pedal while holding down both footswitches.
+Jake Stewart Music The Favorite switch actually does not work with the Mobius (or TimeLine/BigSky). The Favorite switch is just a switch with logic, but does not have the ability to store presets to it. All storage is done on the pedal it is being used with. The Mobius has 100 banks with 2 presets to save to in each bank.
On pedals which already have a built in favorite switch, can this mini switch be used to set up a second favorite or will it just recall the same favorite as the native favorite switch?
Hello, I just got a new fav/tempo switch of yours. Used it for a favourite for my Strymon Sunset and tap mode for my mobius and timeline. So I have 2 questions right now. 1. When I try to plug a non-strymon trs cable, it doesn’t function at all. I need to use it with an L-type cable to save space for my board. 2. I want to use the switch as a tap tempo for both my Mobius and Timeline (want to set both their tempo with just my switch pedal. If I use a Y-type cable, will I be able to use it as 2-output switch? Thanks, Can.
You can use any functioning TRS cable to connect the MiniSwitch to our pedals. The TRS cable that comes with our MiniSwitch/Favorite Switch is not any different than other TRS cables. Also, you will need to create a custom TRS Y-cable to connect the MiniSwitch to both your Mobius and TimeLine pedals at once. You will need to tap off of the TIP and RING of the original cable for the third TRS end.
@@AlexGroen No, the MiniSwitch can recall a saved Favorite preset on El Capistan only. It does not have the ability to act as an external tap tempo switch as this is not a feature available on El Capistan.
I have this pedal and a switch (plus the trs cable) is it possible to use the switch as my TAP TEMPO and the TAP TEMPO on the El Cap as my favorite, so essentially just switching the functionality of the two?
Hi +Moses Abrego! The El Capistan does not support an external tap switch as you can only use it for an expression pedal or a Favorite switch, and the on-board TAP switch will only act as a TAP switch.
+milioooo Yes, the Favorite switch can be used to toggle between the stored Favorite setting and the manual setting of the knobs on the face of the pedal. You still need to use the BYPASS footswitch to turn the effect on and off so you can toggle between the Favorite and Manual setting while the pedal is bypassed. And your Favorite setting is stored for all future powerups until you save a new Favorite setting again.
Hey strymon! I have an el cap and want to know if I can basically have two favorite delay settings and store one in the mini switch. Also will the mini switch remember the setting when I power down?
+Robert Brown With an external MiniSwitch/Favorite Switch, you can recall a single preset stored in the El Capistan. It basically lets you toggle between the manual settings dialed in with the knobs on the pedal and the stored Favorite setting saved in its memory. This setting will be stored for all future power ups until you save a different Favorite setting.
+Into the Light Sorry to hear that you are having trouble with the El Capistan. Please shoot us an email with details on the settings being used and possibly a video to help us understand the problem to support@strymon.net.
Hi Bay Area Toneworks! The Favorite switch setup and programming process is exactly the same for the version 2 pedals with the silent, non-clicking footswitches. Please send us an email to support@strymon.net if you still have trouble.
+Martijn van Spaendonck Yes, the Favorite switch will toggle between a saved Favorite setting or the manual setting that was in use before the Favorite switch was tapped.
Hi Fellipe, Sorry for the late reply, our notifications weren't coming through. Did you get in touch with us or do you still need help? We are always available at support@strymon.net. Thank you so much!
+Gareth Ware Sorry for the delay with this. To save a Favorite setting to the Favorite switch, you still just need to hold down the REVERB BYPASS switch down for a few seconds.
+sinosinuj Yes, the Favorite setting you store will remain in the pedal's memory for all future power ups until you save a different Favorite setting again.
On our pedals, the +5V is sent via the RING of the TRS cable and shorts with either the TIP to select the Favorite preset or the SLEEVE for normal what-you-see-is-what-you-get mode. A TS cable will not allow you to toggle the Favorite preset on and off.
+Luke Skywalk We have been able to split a TRS cable to have an additional TRS end to send TAP tempo signals to more than 1 pedal at a time with the Tap/Favorite switch. Keep in mind that the Favorite feature of the TapFavorite switch does not work with the TimeLine, BigSky, and Mobius.
+Jose Gonzalez You can only use an external latching footswitch like our Tap/Favorite switch to access a Favorite preset on these pedals. The Selah Quartz can only act as a tap tempo with pedals compatible with external tap like the Deco, DIG, Flint, Mobius, TimeLine, and BigSky.
did someon knows if the favorite preset affect the spring rever and the boost, in my case I would like a sublte slow delay with spring reverb for rythm and by engaging the switch: boom big fast delay with 3dB boost
+My Guitar Stuff We have not tested the Joyo, but I have used the SEND jack on a different loop switcher to trigger the Favorite switch on our pedals, so it may be possible. Make sure to use a TRS stereo connection to the pedal from the Joyo to try it out.
Hey Strymon guys. I'm a proud owner of an El Capistan with a fav switch. Is it possible to use the sound on sound mode as a preset? Kind regards from France. Love your gear folks.
Yes, you can set SOS mode as your Favorite preset. You would still need to use the on-board TAP switch to set the splice in/splice out points and to clear the loop.
You can save ONE preset? 4 or 5 would be helpful. One, is not very helpful. I am not simply a big-mouthed smartass. I am actually considering what delay to pedal to buy RIGHT NOW as I write this. I was all set to go with an El Capistan and my gear talking buddy/consultant said something like, If it were ME....i would want to be able to store presets. He's right i suppose. And I had considered that as well. He is a keyboard player though. We KNOW how THEY are. Strymon delay and reverb pedals are incredible sounding. Cheers
Thanks for the feedback! :) It does work this way on our pedals with dual effects such as Deco, Flint, and Sunset since the bypass state of each side is saved with the Favorite preset. On our other pedals, it does not toggle the bypass as this allows you to queue up the Favorite preset without actually engaging the effect yet with the BYPASS/ON footswitch.
+Kang Hwihu blueSky actually has its own on-board Favorite switch for this. It does not have an EXP jack, but you can use the on-board Favorite switch to save and recall a Favorite setting in the same manner.
One super cool thing about this switch is that no matter the tempo you have stored as favorite, you can engage the tap switch while El Capistan is not engaged, and tap in El Capistan a new tempo, then when you engage El Capistan, the favorite will be set with the new tempo

Does this works the same on Deco? when you hold Bypass for deco it creates flange, so, I don't understand how can I save my setting
Love this pedal
Hello guys, I use my multiswitch plus with the iridium to set some presets. Can I do it with el capistan too? To get 3 presets. Thanks
Are there any switches with 2-3 fav buttons for el capistan? Or not singular ones available?
When I change the delay time with tap tempo, is it automatically extended also to the favorite preset?
The Favorite Preset will always recall with the delay time that it was saved with. So if you tap a tempo in manual mode, and recall the Favorite preset, that preset will be recalled with the delay time you saved it with.
nice demo, can you also please make video on how to setup the tap mode on favorite switch.thanks
change the internal jumper to tap mode by plugging it into left and center nodes instead of right and center.
I only see the mono stereo jumper. did you guys do away with the exp fav jumper?
+jcows12 There actually was never an expression Fav jumper. This can be changed as a power-up mode by setting both toggle switches to the top position (FIXED/Mode A) for expression pedal control or middle position (Multi/Mode B) for Favorite switch and powering up the pedal while holding down both footswitches.
ok, what can I do with that device?
So can the favorite switch store a preset on the Mobius so that I'll have 3 presets to choose from without banking up or down?
+Jake Stewart Music The Favorite switch actually does not work with the Mobius (or TimeLine/BigSky). Using an external switch allows for remote bypassing/engaging of the on board Favorite :)

Yes it does :)

The "fave" switch process is different on the El Cap V2 right? Cause I can't find those cable to switch into fave mode.

Bay Area Toneworks I think they did away with it? im not certain but I cant find it internally either.
But... If you tap the favorite switch again, does it go back to the setting you were playing before you recalled the preset??
+Martijn van Spaendonck Yes, the Favorite switch will toggle between a saved Favorite setting or the manual setting that was in use before the Favorite switch was tapped.
+Strymon Support mine doesn't go back, it simply stops completely, and it works again only when I move any of the knobs, is that normal?

+Gareth Ware Sorry for the delay with this. To save a Favorite setting to the Favorite switch, you still just need to hold down the REVERB BYPASS switch down for a few seconds.
And does it work with "hidden" settings, like bias and cutoff?
Yes +Арутр Курганский, the secondary settings are saved as part of your Favorite preset with our pedals. :)
Hi guys. Will the preset remain if i unplug my pedal's power supply? Thx in advance :)
+sinosinuj Yes, the Favorite setting you store will remain in the pedal's memory for all future power ups until you save a different Favorite setting again.
Will this work as a simple tap tempo switch with a standard ts cable or does it always require a trs cable?
With our pedals, you must use a TRS stereo cable from the Tap/Favorite/MiniSwitch to the pedal.
strymon awesome thanks! If you don’t mind me asking what’s the reason for that? What does the trs provide that the ts doesn’t?
On our pedals, the +5V is sent via the RING of the TRS cable and shorts with either the TIP to select the Favorite preset or the SLEEVE for normal what-you-see-is-what-you-get mode. A TS cable will not allow you to toggle the Favorite preset on and off.
strymon thanks for explaining! I just bought one today! Fellow Sweetwater sound employee here, love your guys stuff!
Awesome to hear Noah. Thanks and thanks for all you do at Sweetwater, you all work super hard to make that a great place.
Can this control more than 1 unit at a time? Like the Mobius, Time Line and BigSky at once?
For tap tempo
+Luke Skywalk no, it has one input only
