Girl, I feel you! I too had to look up how to complete the carp quest. I got stuck and didn't know what to do because I didn't know that the carp would just teleport itself into headless ape's boss arena! Silly me.😂I have no idea how fromsoftware/Miazaki comes up with these obscure side quests, haha.
