Thanks Jake! That first bluewater day could have been epic. Oh well, I'll make sure it's definitely no fault of mine next time. Thanks for checking the vid out mate 🍻
@@ExhaleAdventures yeah it’s awesome. I’ve stayed there while doing a lap around Oz. Again on a trip to the Cape and me and the family did the Thorsborne Trail on Hinchinbrook. Such a cool town.
Hey man. Nice episode ! Running a 2 x 16 mm and single flopper gun, your giving yourself the best opportunity to lose a doggie - especially models 30 + kg. 3 x 16 mm rubbers minimum and an 8 mm threaded shaft and slip tip or at worst 8 mm double flopper Rig line length depends a lot on terrain and fish activity and behaviour. I use no bungees i run 2 x 2 atmosphere floats with 3 metres line between the 2 floats. U dont want to give them an extra inch that theyre not already going to take.

Hey Mate nice job blue water. You asked for tips so here goes; - if your diving blue an drifting on run a bungy between you float line and first float. Then bungy between the two next floats. Also rigg you floats inline so there's not as much initial pressure. I personally hate slip tips. If your the same run double floppers or pranger head heads Chuck a roller head on the 1.4 if you want a cannon
Thanks for the info mate. Always good to see everyone’s different opinions. Would you still run a Bungie if you are chasing specifically dogtooth off the edge of a reef or pinnacle? I know most people advocate just pulling dogtooth up. Don’t give them an inch haha. Since this video went live I’ve bought a riffe merauder 63inch, with an 8mm slip tip and triple 16mm. I’m yet to set it up but it is my answer to the Bluewater gun question at least for the next few years. I like the idea of powering up the 1400, maybe I’ll cut it down a little, put a roller head on it and use it as a second shot gun 🤔
my little tip for dog toot is having 1 x 15 l float then attached to the back is a small drogue anchor with a 250mm ring and a 70 mm throught do the attacent between the float and anchor with a 2 m long 14 mm spear gun rubber and 7 m of float rope . hope this makes sence , doesnt put that much straign on the initial short runs but slows him down steadely on longer runs . and slip tip is a must .
@@ExhaleAdventures 20 m float line from float to spear then from float to drouge anchor i use 7 m line cencted to 2m of 14mm rubber . thats it . the just keep eye out for where and when float surface . premitive but its what we did
Thank for your insight and info mate. I’m not sure of the biggest dogtooth speared on the east coast/shelf here, I think upwards of 60-70kg. I’m not sure if they get that size fish around where we were diving though. I think that one I lost was around that 30kg+ mark. Thanks again man.
@@ExhaleAdventures also if i tell you what length roller gun i shot the dog tooth with youll tink im lying . 🤣🤣🤣 900mm with a 8mm shaft and lots of trial and error with pathos nitro 16mm rubers to get the right length for the heavier shaft but it was a weapon and no chance the doggy bends that short stubby dart so you can re use right after landing that guy.
1400 double rubber isn’t really a suitable gun for doggies or even serious Bluewater dude, like I know there’s plenty that get shot with the equivalent of what you’ve got, but in clear water on big fish like that a bigger gun is a must, and so Is getting a bit closer.
@@ExhaleAdventures I’d say get a 120/130 double roller and set it up with an 8.5mm spear & slip tip if you want something that isn’t crazy big but is powerful enough, and practice with it in a pool if you can cause they’re always a different sort of gun to shoot and rig. The aimrites are good but Imo the bands need redoing on them
Dude… The shot on that long nose!!! 😍 Outstanding!!!
Looks like an awesome trip. Some cracking fish up there. I definitely miss FNQ
Thanks for checking the vid out mate. That was one pretty chilled out Longnose haha. It’s pretty incredible up that way. Thanks again mate 🍻
What an incredible trip and an even better episode. That vis and footage was insane, awesome as always brother 🤙🏻.

Congrats on your first doggie! Great vid.
Thanks sis. Need to line up a bigger gun for next time!
No tips mate as I’m not a spearo but I love what you guys do. Full respect. Great trip mate. Love Lucinda.
Thanks for the comment mate, I’m very keen to get back up there and do some more exploring. It’s such a clean, quiet little town as well!

Do you run another 20-30mtr float rope on top of that as well? Do you use a clutch?
