The Baroness has had a surprisingly complicated life! It reminds me that in a way, COBRA always had the last laugh, sure, they constantly failed to conquer the world, but in many ways, they were more complex and entertaining than G.I. JOE!
Baroness was my favorite character of the GI Joe universe. Most of my friends' favorite character was either Snake Eyes or Storm Shadow, but I was a Baroness guy. lol
Ah, the Baroness, quite likely the first "waifu" crush I had. (Well, her or Evil-Lynn.) If anyone who wants to see more of her - in more ways than one - I would recommend the episode "The Gamemaster". Not only does this episode cement her role as a "cartoon sex symbol" (read: Baroness wearing a bikini) it gives her quite a bit of independence as a character: Cobra Commander: Whose side are you on? Baroness: Why, the same side you are, Commander. My own.
I FINALLY got to meet, Morgan Lofting the original voice of The Baroness and that was one of the best days ever! I admittedly told her that I hated the DIC series. But she played the character well and I told her she was one of the reasons why I could stomach the 90's version.
I would only count Larry Hama's work in anything Joe related. The absolute failure of Sitterson is high on my reasons why. He had no respect for the franchise, the readers, or the military in general. This is a trend that continues with the secondary title writers to this day.
The reason why the glasses look became so sexy and dangerous at the same time, who said that brunettes with guns didn't have fun, well certainly the Baroness did, great job.
Ahh Barnoness. Quite possibly the first comic book character I had a crush on. (I'm a few weeks shy of forty so my memory of when such things started and orders of crushdom are vague. I'm all but certain she was the first comic book bad girl I had a crush on at least since most of my early comic crushes were firmly on the hero side.
You made a reference to the AK-47 and then added Kalashnikov's afterwards That's actually kinda redundant seeing as The AK-47 is a Kalashnikov rifle (Avodomat Kalashnikov model 1947)
Karl Smith I definitely see your point. The reason I make the point to include his name is that the AK is one of the most replicated firearms in the world. It’s not just a weapon made exclusively in Russia any more. I feel like adding Kalashnikov helps make that distinction
In the G.I. Joe live action movie The Baroness was only engage to Duke they wasn't married yet when Rex her brother died. He broke off the engagement because he didn't want to face her after the death. She is truly one of the most iconic deadliest villain and the sexiest.
I didn't like the way when The 2009 Live Action GI Joe movie made ships out Duke and Baroness love relationship I always prefered Barroness and Destro's relationship.
Are they going to retcon the Vietnam War origins for a lot of characters? The war ended almost 50 years ago and a lot of people who served or were adults during that era are in their late 60s-70s.
Baroness reminds me so much of Bayonetta. She's a video game witch with long black hair who wears glasses and a leather catsuit, yet she carries 4 red guns, two in her hands, and two behind her feet!!
they are doing a team-up universe in the comics. M.A.S.K , GI Joe and Transformers plus some other hasbro and takara properties. In this new comic team-up universe, most of earth’s advanced technology came from various alien space wreckage.
Love what you are trying to do but please slow down & give us 1 version of the back story at a time. Start with the Marvel story then IDW take on the back story!
Eh, there's a difference between Goth and sort whatever type she is i might look it up later. Goths have a more Frilly, victorian or punk metal vibe. She doesn't give me either of those vibes ngl.
Richard Reavis I know, I know! My bad! I’ll make up for it when I do my Destro video. Especially bad because I have Scottish ancestry and so I should know better lol
Richard Reavis Agree Completely, You Say In The Video, She Went To University In Edenburg, Scotland. It's Spelled Correctly Edinburgh (E-din-bruh) It's Not Edenburg...
I do admit freely that I enjoy a little Baroness and long, lingering full body shots of drawings of her. Cause I'm a guy. As a kid, I was amazed when I got her as an action figure as a birthday present and she had long, rubber hair! I wished Scarlett and Cover Girl would have had the rubber hair but alas, such is the continuing evolution of action figures. Who says boys don't like female action figures? Baroness is awesome and I can't imagine Cobra without her!
She was originally in Order of Battle Number 3, not 10. Also, it was Destro and Dr. Mindbender, who looked for all the remains to help create Serpentor. You also left out she was an expert Rattler pilot.
If she's proficient with the AK-47 of course she's proficient with the Kalashnikov. They're the same weapon. AK-47 was a designation used by NATO and, in reference to the very first stamped receiver model, the Izmech factory. In Eastern Bloc use it was called Automat Kalashnikov or AK, followed by a type designation and S for folding stock variants, e.g. AK Type 1, AKS Type 1, ending after the second milled steel receiver folding stock AKS Type 3 with the modernized stamped steel receiver AKM and AKMS. AKs weren't given model year designations in service until the AK-74 was introduced.
Jeremy Shelton You’re absolutions right. I mentioned to another commenter that the AK is one of the most replicated, copied firearms in the world and I feel like adding the Kalashnikov designation helps make that distinction. She’d be proficient in the copies of course too but in my head canon she trained with an original Soviet issue firearm
I enjoy the video but I have some constructive feedback. With "nom de guerre" the "nom" rhymes with bomb in American English. And Edinburgh is edden-burra. Cheers.
At 4:04 in this video; Who can give me the down low on the blonde smoke-show that seems to be auditioning for a place amoungst The Baroness and Destro? Possibly transitioning the #1 wicked power couple into some kind of weaponized menage-au-tois? She must be a comics only character because I'm certain she'd have not been forgotten had I seen her on the cartoon or in the toy line.
Who couldn't afford the Original G.IJoe figures and instead got the copies from the dollar store? And Twist the torso for that super rotation spinning double punch/knuckles against those barbies!?
daddust you can find out from the 400 other people who already asked this exact same question! 😎 yes I know I pronounced it incorrectly ... thanks for watching! why did you spell Scotland with a “k”?
I'm surprised that there was no mention of the Godzilla episode, Season 2 Episode 12, The Island of Doom from 1979. This was when Godzilla squared off against Cobra, who, SPOILER ALERT, did as well as the Japanese Army against Godzilla. I remember a leader giving orders, but I don't think it was Cobra Commander. I do remember The Baroness being one of the leaders in Cobra though. This had Cobra pre-dating the G.I. Joe appearance by 3 years.
I remember thinking she was the prettiest cartoon female in glass, as a boy. Even today she's the sexiest fictional female in glasses. Too bad the GI Joe movies sucked, because I would've loved to see her become as bad-ass & popular as Black Widow, in the MCU.
responsible for many young men's predilection towards dark haired women with glasses - and leather and whips.
trence5 Ha! Truth 😎
You right about that 😂
😂🤣😂🤣 yep!!
Damn right!!!!
trence5 Oh, that’s silly. *stare at the woman I married* Well, I’ll be dammed.
The Baroness has had a surprisingly complicated life! It reminds me that in a way, COBRA always had the last laugh, sure, they constantly failed to conquer the world, but in many ways, they were more complex and entertaining than G.I. JOE!
If I don't remember wrong, in the comic books isn't the world taken over by cobra already?
@Lord Of The World And style
Baroness was my favorite character of the GI Joe universe. Most of my friends' favorite character was either Snake Eyes or Storm Shadow, but I was a Baroness guy. lol
The original Baroness figure had a Dragunov sniper rifle, not an AK-47.
Hmmmm Baroness vs Black Widow. Let's do this!
...in a pool of jello and whipped cream! 😈😛

Loved the Baroness as a kid. Like you said, "If it ain't Larry Hamas, does it even matter?" No, it does not!
dude loving your origin series. while I enjoy learning what other writers do I gotta agree Larry Hama is definitive gi joe
Simon Rhoden Thanks Simon! I agree Larry’s work is the most canon. Others can help fill in gaps until he does so I like to include them
I FINALLY got to meet, Morgan Lofting the original voice of The Baroness and that was one of the best days ever! I admittedly told her that I hated the DIC series. But she played the character well and I told her she was one of the reasons why I could stomach the 90's version.
Yes indeed she did influence alot when it came to the femme fatale villainess....a legend in infamy....all hail The Baroness
Character development and backstories in the live action movie were atrocious. They should have stuck to the comic backstory.
Masked Vigilante Absolutely! They completely changed her
It usually happens deliberately, un-fortunately!!!! 🗑
I agree but without the comic book background she wouldn't exist lol or any of the superheroes
It was to mature.....
I don't know, some of them where good, but they seemed too much based off the nanomite technology.
My wife has long dark hair and wears glasses, I think it’s a subliminal thing liking the look of Baroness.
Such a beautiful rose with massive thorns....
shes the hot bad girl
The Baroness.....one of the most interesting and complex bad ass characters! 🖤🖤🖤
Baroness is such a beauty
The baroness is so fine
please do videos on snake eyes. storm shadow zartan serpentor and the crimson twins
mwamba85dt These are on the list! Zartan is next
Kotobukiya bishoujo statue.. of scarlet and the baroness. Out this year. Great tributes.
Can you do Mumm-Ra backstory?
SR Striker Great idea, I’m adding it to my list 😎
JLS Comics thank you
Love the channel, JLS. Really wish we could get the live-action movies or series we deserve. Stories straight from the comic pages by fans of the IP.
The Baroness is one of my favorite characters from the G.I.Joe Lore! The Baroness is one of my favorite G.I. Joe characters!
The woman of my dreams.
I would only count Larry Hama's work in anything Joe related. The absolute failure of Sitterson is high on my reasons why. He had no respect for the franchise, the readers, or the military in general. This is a trend that continues with the secondary title writers to this day.
*looks at Sigma 6*
Nick Fury should recruit her, she must have a lot of red on her ledger
She was my first crush as a boy...... I've lead a 'colorful' life. 😉
Mine too lol
Good boys like bad girls. Lol.😁
Same here
Mine was lady Jane
🙀😻😹🙀😻😹🙀😻😹🙀😻😹🙀😻😹🙀😻😹
Love the gi joe content. Can the next character you cover be storm shadow please.
Great video , The baroness what a character!
The reason why the glasses look became so sexy and dangerous at the same time, who said that brunettes with guns didn't have fun, well certainly the Baroness did, great job.
I love watching her on the cartoon

Anybody else notice how Snake Eyes is almost always involved or the cause of something in the GI Joe universe?
Actualy there was a couple of episodes of the animated series where in an alternate reality she was in love with steeler
Roar!!!!! Her and short hair Lady Jay, the hottest chicks ever!!!! Good episode.
YES, SIR!!
You made a reference to the AK-47 and then added Kalashnikov's afterwards
That's actually kinda redundant seeing as The AK-47 is a Kalashnikov rifle (Avodomat Kalashnikov model 1947)
Karl Smith I definitely see your point. The reason I make the point to include his name is that the AK is one of the most replicated firearms in the world. It’s not just a weapon made exclusively in Russia any more. I feel like adding Kalashnikov helps make that distinction
Sienna Miller is a winner

5:51 - LOL, Serpentor trying to advertise company stock while going into battle!
Are they going to retcon the Vietnam War origins for a lot of characters? The war ended almost 50 years ago and a lot of people who served or were adults during that era are in their late 60s-70s.
In the movie, she and Duke were engaged not married. And after her brothers death he never went back to her.
I love your post! 👊🏻
that was a fun video thanks!
Shlomo Ben Hungstein Thank you!
May I suggest Jinx?
Baroness reminds me so much of Bayonetta. She's a video game witch with long black hair who wears glasses and a leather catsuit, yet she carries 4 red guns, two in her hands, and two behind her feet!!
You rock!! I think I could make baroness an honest woman 😂🤣. Love the history and story line. Keep up the good work!👍
Randall Petroelje Thank you!
Your show is a comic haven for me 👍. I would love to see more of your work!
I'd share my life with Baroness.
🥰🤗
My favorite cobra agent
GI Joe should be the next franchise... It is the only series that hasn't been done correctly.
they are doing a team-up universe in the comics. M.A.S.K , GI Joe and Transformers plus some other hasbro and takara properties. In this new comic team-up universe, most of earth’s advanced technology came from various alien space wreckage.

Cobra Commander is... Oroku Saki! 🤯
Square Pickle no that's the Shredder's name
You hit the snake on the head 🤣😂! Thanks
MG16NCP is that for Cobra or 2003 Shredder?
Square Pickle YOU FOOL!!
If it weren't for the Baroness, I think GI Joe fanart wouldn't be a thing. :)
Have you done one on Duke?
"Eden-burg"??
Ouch...
Richard Reavis I know, I know! My bad! I’ll make up for it when I do my Destro video. Especially bad because I have Scottish ancestry and so I should know better lol

You should do quick kick and dr mind bender
If Madeline Stowe was a badass.
General Hawk please. He has been with the Joe team since the beginning
Robert Hickey Good news, he’s next in my GI Joe series! I am working on his video as we speak and it should be out later this week 👍

Are the Modern IDW comics in the same continuity as the original Marvel comics?
Can you do an updated episode of Baroness with Ursula Cordero included? That would be awesome.
Love orgin videos thanks.
Baroness helped me along with puberty..lmao
History and origin of Shockwave please!
Baroness was my cartoon crush as a 6 year old. Sienna Miller was a horrible Baroness in the rise of Gi Joe
Scarlet on the G.I. Joe side and Baroness on the Cobra side (crushes both).
She was originally in Order of Battle Number 3, not 10. Also, it was Destro and Dr. Mindbender, who looked for all the remains to help create Serpentor. You also left out she was an expert Rattler pilot.
The baroness in the first GI Joe movie was very beautiful and sexy.
MG16NCP
And the rest of the world loves ugly women?
one Question how will see kiss destro if he have a metal mask? how will she feel his lips and how do he feel her lips ??
My sugar baby loves cosplay and this is one of here characters!

She was like the g.i. joe cobra version of black widow ❤❤❤❤😎😎😎😎
Have you done Lady Jaye?
I liked the Baroness pics with the Decepticon Ravage. Not sure of the story there or it was just fan art
Who is the blonde @4:01

"Rednok often is mistook for a school teacher because of the glasses she is wearing."
The Baroness!!
I always assumed Hama was channeling the Bader-Meinhoff gang.
Who couldn't afford the Original G.IJoe figures and instead got the copies from the dollar store? And Twist the torso for that super rotation spinning double punch/knuckles against those barbies!?
Baroness gives me Terminator vibes. And I sometimes wonder if she was the inspiration for Karin Uzumaki from the Naruto franchise?
Whats EDEENBURG Skotland?

Scarlett
Lady Jaye
Cover Girl
The pink-haired Dreadknox chic
And most of all... The Baroness!!!
Go Joe!!! And Cobra!
This is one of two origin stories. The movie retconned her, too.
I believe she came out in the '84 line.
I thought they were engaged in the movie, she agreed to marry Duke only if he kept Rex safe?
Do the origins of Fumbles
