I think this match was fixed in order to promote Messi as the next big thing and set up a final against Ronaldo. UEFA would much rather have this than another all English final like the year before. The most obvious one was the Pique hand ball. Its about as obvious as it comes and the referee can see it but decides not to give it.

Chelsea got robbed twice against Barcelona in different years of the Championship...That's when I realised how corrupt football is, and how big politics is in the game.

I couldn't believe it when Totti got sent off in that South Korea vs Italy game, that was absolute madness, and the disallowed goal for Spain in the previous round
As a Barca fan I’ll admit this refereeing was a joke. However I’ll at least admit that while people saying Barca paid referee while completely ignoring Abidal red card clearly wasn’t even a foul. Not as if Barca got it completely their way either.
One year prior to that the final match was MAN U vs Chelsea. MAN U had qualified for the final that year and Chelsea was about to against Barca. The last thing the UEFA wanted is to have the same teams playing finals again. Less money, less viewing rate, etc. It's all about money and the UEFA is corrupted as hell! first and second "missed" call, aswell as the 78. minute "penalty" were extremely weak fouls, i can absolutely get on board with a no-call for international football. 81 and 95 of course were blatantly missed calls and best reason why we need var.
Im a big Chelsea fan and i have also lived in Norway for more than 30 years. This ref is a Norwegian. Even recently he was stubborn saying he did everything right that match and he wouldnt change a single call from that match. He also had another horrible match during that same period. It was between Fiorentina and Bayern Munich. It was so bad that Fiorentina fans were trying to find his hotel room after the match.
This is probably not match fixing. The only penalties that should have been given to Chelsea was the two handball situations, but he did also give a red card to a Barcelona player after the Chelsea player got tripped by his own legs. I think this is just a case of bad refereeing.
Barcelona have been caught out and fined for bribing refs. They had the head of the Spanish refs in their pocket. Think to yourself. Why did Barca give money to refs ?
@@dritandervishi5785 I am a barca fan I can understand that one handball and that foul that was given freekick could be a mistake but Pique's handball was clear as daylight 😔
As a Chelsea fan i was absolutely devastated. Looking back now i still believe the refereeing was atrocious but now i don't think the "fouls" were worthy of penalties except for the two blatant handballs (the second was in front of the referee). Also, Abidal was not the last man so the red card ought to be a yellow.
I usually don‘t like those matches where one side thinks that if you make enough penalty claims the referee will eventually be obligated to concede one - as if several half- or quarter-penalties will somehow sum up to a „full“ penalty. That‘s the way Brazil tried to provoke penalties during WC 2014 (six or seven ridiculous attempts in the Germany game alone). Get the crowd cooking, put pressure on the referee. Having said this, this match here is a different case altogether. Although not everything in this video was penalty-worthy, Chelsea should definitely have gotten two: one for that clear foul inside, not outside the box, and the other one for Piqué‘s handball. Very bad performance by the referee indeed.
All the PK by chelsea are diving so VAR won't give any. On other hand Abidal won't be sent off so Barca won't lack 1 defender which is the cause for chelsea attack with pressure and Barca committing all the handballs, the outcome might be same with Barcelona scoring in the end. If Chelsea won this match by handball PK, its unfair to Barca as well since Abidal unfairly sent off.
The red card for Abidal was about as bad as the missed penalties. He didn’t even touch Anelka and got sent off for nothing. Chelsea should’ve had at the very least two penalties and probably three. If I remember correctly, Drogba had the reputation as a diver, which could’ve affected the referee’s decision to not award him a penalty when he went down.
To be fair the referee made only a couple mistakes that Chelsea fans can be mad of. All these penalties that he didn't give during the game were DIVES. You can see it clearly here. Foul on Malouda was outside the box, Drogba fell without help, Anelka fell without help. On the other hand the red card for Abidal was a mistake because Anelka hit his own leg (!!!) without any contact with Abidal. So that mistake was in favour of Chelsea.
lol, it's crazy that Barcelona managed to advance after the ref red carded Abidal for nothing and didn't even send anyone from chelsea off for protesting.
2.30 ref like 5m away from Samuel Eto'o handball ... corruption runs deep in fifa they didnt want another Man Utd vs Chelsea final ... they wanted a Ronaldo vs messi
Honestly, I think Chelsea players were falling very easily in the box after reaching back or pushing a defender. The first clip is not even a foul on the defender. The attacker pushes the defender in the back, poorly controls the ball, runs into the defender, and flops. The no call handballs were horrible though.
0:50 (Dive) No Card For Chelsea And No Possession For Barca. 1:23 (Dive) No Card For Chelsea + Handball, But Red Card For Abbidal 1:51 (Dive) No Card For Chelsea Also Watch The 1st Leg, If The Chelsea Players We’re Rightfully Penalised The 2nd leg they wouldn’t have their best 11, and Barcelona would’ve scored in the 1st and 2nd leg, beating Chelsea.
You are delusional. If a ref caught every dive football history would be dramatically different. Plus the second one isn't even a dive. He's clearly pushed off balance. What the ref should be catching however is blatant handballs. Pique literally caught the ball. Chelsea were robbed.
This match and Barcelona 6-1 PSG are the biggest reasons why VAR needs to exist, without it match fixing and robberies by bad referee decisions would be way more prevalent
I don't understand why no one talks about the first leg of Barca vs Chelsea. No red card for Ballack, clear penalty for Barcelona denied, Ballack hand ball inside penalty area, Abidal Red card, Drogba foul on pique. Everyone just talks about denied penalties of chelsea.
People are complaining but it's decades of allowing people to push that has meant that the first couple were clear fouls both ways. The blue player is not just aloud to push the other player away. First one was a free kick to blue outside the box then a free kick to yellow inside the box if the first foul was missed. Second one was the typical wrestling match where the referee is expected to see that yellow maybe makes contact a tenth of a second before blue. Yellow pulled his shirt after being fended off. Now it does get worse from there but the tolerance of pushing is what gets us there. Referee had an absolute shocker with those handballs and with the phantom red. VAR, as terrible as it is, has stopped players playing with their hands in the box so much.

This is tied with Barcelona 6-5 PSG for the worst steals of all time
It wasn't poor by the ref, the whole thing was absolutely rigged because top UEFA officials wanted a messi and Ronaldo final, it's obvious
Chelsea got robbed twice against Barcelona in different years of the Championship...That's when I realised how corrupt football is, and how big politics is in the game.
As an Arsenal fan, l don't have too much time for Chelsea, but that was daylight robbery
Fix your face!!! Thierry Henry wasn't gon be denied uefaCL medal... London is Red Anyway 🤷♂️🤭
I've just discovered this shame (2024).
WTF
it's like Roma-Sevilla (europe league final 2023)
RIDDICULOUS
England v Germany WC 2010 yards over the line, England v Argentina, WC 1986, blatant and obvious hand ball, England v Portugal EC 2004 Sol Campbell goal disallowed for a foul on his own team mate! And many more. South Korea v Italy WC 2002, South Korea v Spain WC 2002.
I couldn't believe it when Totti got sent off in that South Korea vs Italy game, that was absolute madness, and the disallowed goal for Spain in the previous round
The bias against the English is crazy
Football games like that can happen at times but not in an idealistic way.
@@joshhiggins_01y'all are just bad dude even with good refs 😂
Sol Campbell twice actually. And that Chiellini pull on Saka in Euros final was a red.
I don't condone abusing a ref, but this ref was abusing the whole team the whole match.
even the fans, bench player and ppl watching thru tv CLEARLY SEE IT WAS HANDBALL, idk how much Barca pay this ref🤣
best ref
I didn’t see any dodgy decisions, Chelsea notorious bottlers
9/10 ragebait nice
As a Barca fan I’ll admit this refereeing was a joke. However I’ll at least admit that while people saying Barca paid referee while completely ignoring Abidal red card clearly wasn’t even a foul. Not as if Barca got it completely their way either.
A good example of why VAR should be tolerated.
I believe that was the last match for the referee to judge ever😱what a shocker
No it wasn't. He retired four years later.
That's why you shouldn't "believe", but do your research instead.
@@menfaaanda Nope he actually retired few months later not years
@@PawelNev in October 2013, Øvrebø announced his retirement from professional refereeing. ..That sound like years to me. Actually.
@@menfaaanda That was him in Norway league no more champions league not counting that as professional but u are kinda right
That ref was bribed by barca..
no question about it
why did he give the barca player a red card then?
to make it seem less obvious that hes bribed@@peterplayz7215
One year prior to that the final match was MAN U vs Chelsea.
MAN U had qualified for the final that year and Chelsea was about to against Barca.
The last thing the UEFA wanted is to have the same teams playing finals again. Less money, less viewing rate, etc.
It's all about money and the UEFA is corrupted as hell! Therefore, they bribed the referee.
then why did he send off the barca player for no reason ?
@@antzoomato make it look like he was officiating a fair game but you should know he was on Barcelona side
It was bad refereeing lol watch first leg
No red card, 81 is a pen, 95 is a pen
it was too high up his arm for handball www.google.com.au/search?q=what+part+of+arm+is+no+handball&sca_esv=590391945&tbm=isch&source=lnms&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwiP9aH58ouDAxUnbPUHHZsKBokQ_AUoAXoECAIQAw&biw=1366&bih=651&dpr=1#imgrc=yBoYui7tgKp_5M
Vardrid vs Bayern 2017 was worse
Barca was robbed in the 1st leg
Always deflecting always obsessed with madrid
when its that bad you can tell its fixed
I like how the thumbnail implies that BOTH teams got fecked that night...
Pre-VAR era.
first and second "missed" call, aswell as the 78. minute "penalty" were extremely weak fouls, i can absolutely get on board with a no-call for international football.
How is this still happening with video replay? They can see clearly what the ref supposedly can’t! I don’t get it 😮
This was 2009 - no VAR then
The referee wasn't stupid. He knew what were going on. What a shame!
This is probably not match fixing. The only penalties that should have been given to Chelsea was the two handball situations, but he did also give a red card to a Barcelona player after the Chelsea player got tripped by his own legs. I think this is just a case of bad refereeing.
Exactly
Barcelona have been caught out and fined for bribing refs. They had the head of the Spanish refs in their pocket.
Think to yourself. Why did Barca give money to refs ?
It must also be emphasized that Ballack should not have played that game
3 penalties really. The rest were dives
Yeah, 2 handballs and the the one given outside the box
none were dives
To fair anelka dived and Drogba too so not clear pens but the pique and eto
@@Your_Duolingo66-g1f Both Anelka and Drogba dived
@@dritandervishi5785 I am a barca fan I can understand that one handball and that foul that was given freekick could be a mistake but Pique's handball was clear as daylight 😔
All i saw was a lot of diving Chelsea players.
Dreadful noise accompaniment.
Well, with an all music soundtrack and no contextual commentary, it's kind of hard to tell what's going on and what the referee rulings are.
Perfect example why the VAR can make sense
VAR didnt exist back then
Now seeing this, the VAR isn't that bad at all 😅
00:20 Ref knew already what's gonna happend
31min it's not a penalty... No way.
Reality is that only the Pique handball is a penalty, the rest the Chelsea players went down like a sack of shit, rightly ignored by the ref
You can't be serious.
Well, yea... As a Barca fan, i found this match was very weird... I felt that it was rigged.
All I saw was Chelsea players dive on every "penalty" sequence, stay on your feet big fella 🫣
Can honestly say Chelsea were denied two clear penalties but for the rest , wouldn’t really blame ref for
You know if abidal didn't get a red card this wouldn't happen?
refs paid
just type real madrid vs bayern reffere and enjoy
It could be argued that the foul "began' outside the box. But the handballs are impossible to defend in my opinion
And the red card
All the PK by chelsea are diving so VAR won't give any. On other hand Abidal won't be sent off so Barca won't lack 1 defender which is the cause for chelsea attack with pressure and Barca committing all the handballs, the outcome might be same with Barcelona scoring in the end. If Chelsea won this match by handball PK, its unfair to Barca as well since Abidal unfairly sent off.
That was done under the instruction of Platini.
1 pen they should have had for a handball and abidal shouldnt have been sent off. The three pen appeals were all correct they were clear dives
He becomes so much money from Sport Mafia for that he knew it was worth…
To be fair the referee made only a couple mistakes that Chelsea fans can be mad of. All these penalties that he didn't give during the game were DIVES. You can see it clearly here. Foul on Malouda was outside the box, Drogba fell without help, Anelka fell without help. On the other hand the red card for Abidal was a mistake because Anelka hit his own leg (!!!) without any contact with Abidal. So that mistake was in favour of Chelsea.
👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
That handball was just redicolusly obvious...
actually great performance by the referee.. he did exactly what they paid him for ;) if ya know what I mean
Imagine being 11v10 and cant win with talent
lol, it's crazy that Barcelona managed to advance after the ref red carded Abidal for nothing and didn't even send anyone from chelsea off for protesting.
The no call handballs were horrible though.
agree. Chelsea players were just flopping in the box but the handballs were legitamate calls.
After this and the Arsenal match, nowaday Barcelona say need to rematch the last Elclassico, GG Barcelona, shame on you.
0:50 (Dive) No Card For Chelsea And No Possession For Barca.
1:23 (Dive) No Card For Chelsea + Handball, But Red Card For Abbidal 1:51 (Dive) No Card For Chelsea
Also Watch The 1st Leg, If The Chelsea Players We’re Rightfully Penalised The 2nd leg they wouldn’t have their best 11, and Barcelona would’ve scored in the 1st and 2nd leg, beating Chelsea.
You are delusional. If a ref caught every dive football history would be dramatically different. Plus the second one isn't even a dive. He's clearly pushed off balance. What the ref should be catching however is blatant handballs. Pique literally caught the ball.
Chelsea were robbed.
Did you watch first leg??Barca were denied two penalties,,the case for abdal was not a red card
I call that era Blatterball
