- This is in front of the warehouse work at the Dock.
Before any packages arrive at the Pickers to give Stowers work, all package needs to be Inducted from FCs.
This is one of my favorite positions next to Stow.
Being quick here is sort of critical...you've got to keep the work flowing so that the back of the house receives adequate work for the Pickers and Stowers.
The water spiders feed you Go-Karts, and for safety measures, you can use the white clips to hold the door open, which helps avoid any doors smacking somebody in the face.
Is physical fitness needed? No, not if you have good posture and form.
There is a lot of hyperextension of the spine, however.
So, it is crucial to keep your core muscles engaged whilst firing the necessary muscles to carry out the biomechanical movement of unloading packages from Go-Karts quickly onto the conveyor belt
The main muscle groups worth noting are:
1) erector spinalis: to stabilize the upper torso (spine)
2) subscapularis: to stabilize the rotator cuff (shoulders)
3) gluteus medius: to rotate the upper torso (hip rotation)
4) extensor carpi ulnaris: to grip onto the packages (forearm, fingers)

Yes always have, in exercise physiology, it would be officially known as steady-state cardio, with a average HR of 130-140.

@@robw5741 the speed is about the same as the flex belt.
The screen displays real time induct speed, so you get real time feedback on your performance. When jiffies come up, the screen will display 1600-1900 pph, while mixed boxes and jiffies rates will nose dive down to 1300-1600 pph.
On manual belts i do not know how they track speed. Maybe from the Avery gun scans but the ASL is a great machine nonetheless.
@mikeeonfiya oh OK was just curious. That rate is horrible for a machine. Especially jiffies. I've scan 3500 pph and unload for someone else and hit 4k pph. Not bragging just saying for a machine thats a terriblethen.
Manually yes it's the avery, it's connected bluetooth like the scanners in stow to the devices. We have tvs by the induct lines that show our rates, they're not real time they the update every few minutes.
They still let yall use the flex belt? We had 3 of then and safety said they weren't safe and we no longer have them.

Started at DS DPH-7 Elizabethtown PA. three years ago. At 57 yrs old. We did not have tubs or carts no lights or stickers on the floor. We just throw OS boxes down to the end. I am at FC PHL6 now. Keep up the great work👍

Keeping this pace makes time fly by extremely fast. It’s a good way to put your fitness to the test as well.
So for 3:20 - 8:30 we are shooting to finish all unloading fresh incoming packages, then fly by’s and off to P2B for a breather. The pace definitely increases with jiffies as those are easier, just gotta feed the machine right so it doesn’t spit back without a label.

yep, the automatic scan label (ASL) is a fine piece of German engineering.
SLAM labels go in first so the machine has time to scan QR, and at the end drop a hydraulic arm goes down and slaps the location sticker on the pkg.
The right conveyor is where it diverts back any errors and sometimes fly bys (e.g., upside down jiffies, no SLAM labels, heavy OV's, overlength OV's, FC labels, sideline, etc.)
Lastly, the red tote is for problem solve.
We had that machine at the Walmart I used to work at.

I do a new amazon ds, so cool to see a auto induct machine, i come from a sort center where everything was automated, auto sorter, packages were automatically dropped into shuttles/gaylords, my ds i transfered to everythings pretty much manual still have diverts, induct pushers etc, would be cool to see it at my station
Mine is all manual too. Have to line load with an inductor right next to you sticking labels on everything

That's cap. He literally going a bit above average here. Yes, I'm sure he can faster but there is really no point of finishing so fast since they will make you do more stuff right away. Work at the pace you think it's enough to fullfill the shift. You are not getting paid more if u go faster, so long as u do what was asked for the day, it's all good.
@@nitelutionnitelution4534 thanks mate. I don’t have jiffies so it’s all boxes…I’m stacking boxes at 2’a and 3’s at a time to feed the ASL quicker as well.
Only thing to note here is there are no misplaced stickers on my belt. If you load super fast or incorrectly, you get spitback and do extra work for nothing, so I make sure to feed the labels in first.

Are you on the floor the first day right away, or do you sit in a classroom for long hours the first day? Just trying to prepare cause I dont think I can stay awake sitting in a classroom at 1am, I will need a few red bulls.
You’re in the classroom for your “Day 1,” which covers fundamentals of the work & emphasis on trainings, basic training modules on the Zebra tablet , setting up direct deposit, making sure you order safety shoes, etc.
Then you’ll tour the warehouse after and through out Day 2.
Your learning ambassador will have you hop onto Picking or Stowing.
By day 3 you’ll be on your own working, and self-guided on the Zebra.
There is no hands on training or shadowing, so you’ll learn on your own pretty much. Don’t rely on redbulls until you start the grunt work of Picking / Stowing. It’ll be a waste in the classroom.

Yeah, at this station; stand up meeting occurs from 3:20 am until 3:30 am.
Then it’s off to the races. P2B and Stowers receive work within 15 minutes.
We went to finish by 8:30 am. Inbetwee breaks I always clean misplaced stickers from the ASL, it keeps the working environment clean and future ASL mistakes.
Unloading is the one position where time flies by the quickest, since you can gamify your unload/induct speed and rate; which is depicted on the screen. You can compete with the surrounding neighbors as well.
So my eyes are fixated on Go-Karts and the screen, I also focus on making sure SLAM labels enter first, it avoids spit back and package build up on the return belt.
It’s all about having fun whilst being productive, work in the warehouse should be like that.

No, if they cared I would’ve been asked to take this video down already.
We have our phones out all the time to play music.
No, no one is watching you constantly, it’s very autonomous, meaning you work unsupervised most of the time.
You’ll be approached if you are idling, since they track your labor.
It’s called time off task TOT. They don’t track your labor when you work on the dock, however. Only when you Stow.
I would not consider this a strict job at all., it’s fun and fast-paced. I would work here again if I was in a pinch for money.

You’ll enjoy stowing. They’ll put you on the Dock (unloading like in this video) when you’ve shown your fast and can adapt.
Since you’ll provide work for the Pickers and Stowers at the Dock, gotta be quick.
Slow/lazy people are rarely on the Dock area.
Try turning the cart in towards the belt. Then slide the packages onto the belt.
Absolutely, that method is highly efficient & back sparing.
I do the same thing and love moving the heavy packages, but at our station we have a pusher, loader and inductor. We rotate positions every time the roll runs out of the induct gun.
Thanks for stopping by! We only have 2 Inductors, if you look to my left there is 1, and another 1 at the other end. In between are the ASL, automated slam label machines.
As an unloader on the ASL, you just make sure that the SLAM labels feed in firstly, so that the machine has adequate time to scan the QR code, and then a robotic arm drops down the label. This replaces the Inductors and Avery gun, and the time gap of switching out rolls of labels altogether.
It’s getting more automated, soon there will be no P2B; as they will implement ADTA machines for automated divert to proper aisles, and Stowers work on their own.

@@PalmdalesAdonisyeah makes it a breeze and everyone kind of gets a rest since we keep rotating.
Switching when the roll runs out of paper is crazy though, we rotate after break. Or if the pusher is willing to switch with the loader they can do that since the inductor sticks to their guns lol

I agree, there’s only a handful of associates assigned to Unload. It hurts too many peoples backs, or they are unmotivated to work at a speed of urgency…so the pickers and Stowers have adequate work.

How long have you had the auto induct machine?
My station doesn’t have that, we have 7 lines running with inductors during peak right now 😅
They installed these in the summer of June. There are still 2 manual regular belts with Inductors and Avery Guns. Both manual and auto Inductors still have Pushers at the end.
Is your station big? Because ours isn’t. Maybe 34 stowers. High volume for our small warehouse team would be 60-64k. It’s the 5/8 schedule of 3:20 - 11:50.

I think my station might be just a little bigger than yours, during peak right now volume gets up to 80k or higher, slow days for us is 60k.
Around 45 stowers and 26 pullers and dock is about 35 people. If we see those induct machines put into our station they will probably down size on the staff 😕

Why are most of these boxes packaged in Amazon branded boxes/tape if this is inbound inventory? Is this mostly FC transfers?
Yes it’s all FC transfers. This is a Delivery Station DS, aka last mile delivery to customer.
I’ll be starting Delivery Station Warehouse Associate, If my hours are (1:20 AM to 11:50 AM) do you know what's the exact Time of when my breaks and Lunch breaks will start and end so I'll know when to leave and when to go back (clock in and clock out) Like I already know it'll be like 30 min or something like that ect.. but like can you give me a exact time of when it start and end if you can?
I worked the 5 days 8 hr shifts, 3:20 - 11:50 am. so I am not sure about 1:20 - 11:50 am.
3:20 am - clock in (you can clock in 5 minutes early or late @ 3:15 or 3:25, for you it’ll be 1:15 - 1:25) stand up meeting, assigned positions. Induct begins promptly after, packages arrive to all clusters and Pickers & Stowers within 15 minutes.
5:15 - 530 am; first 15 min break.
6:45 am - 7:15 am; lunch break
7:15 am - 8:50 am; induct done by 8:30, stowers end by 8:50 am. Part / Reduced timers leave.
8:50 - 9:10 am; 2nd lunch break
9:10 - 11:50 am; Pick and Stage, Load Out
If done before 11:50 am, open bags physically to help the RTS shift guys later.

I work that shift and first break is 3:30 to 3:45 no clock out. then lunch is 6:00 to 6:30 clock out and back in. Then last break comes roughly around 8 am it depends on when your specific task is over it varies from dock side to buffer to stowing etc they usually call break when it’s time tho so don’t worry

Its tiresome and boring and sweaty and constant. Even watching this guy does this look enjoyable? Doing that for hours on end. Its a terrible job

To anyone looking to work for amazon or works at amazon you will get injured just a matter of time doing the same repetitive movements over and over they don't care about you that job will work you till you are worthless then toss you out managers have easy jobs and supervisors you just have to be hartless and treat other work colleagues below you like cattle I was there 2 years and it's a meat grinder people that get fired after a few months are the smart one's if you need cash apply for amazon and do the bare minimum amount of work get whatever cash you can then dip that's my best advice 👍

This work is only seen at a Delivery Station DS, or last mile delivery station.
If you’re at a Fulfillment Center (FC), then I believe you are more station and the work is more mundane as you’re not mobile through out the shift.

Without a doubt it’s the funnest job I’ve ever worked at. If you like to be hands on, physical, adrenaline, fast-paced work, you’ll enjoy the job.
Don’t listen to the doom and gloom UA-camrs out there spreading FUD about working fast and getting abused …it’s all team work, when the packages end up with the drivers that’s all that matters.
And everybody done something to get it done, whether they were fast or slow it doesn’t matter.

I have a colleague who works at both Costco and Amazon. After our 3:20 am - 11:50 am shift, he heads to Costco for whatever hours, then gets 3-4 hours of sleep and comes back into the fray at Amazon. Young energy ya know@@stevejrvillegas

Hiring.Amazon.com - search “warehouse associate” and enter your zip code. This is different from fulfillment centers. I’d say the work is more physically engaging and fun compared to the latter.

I resigned last mont but I will say definitely working at a DS has absolutely been the funnest job, I would never do FC or Sortation.
Peak season is around the corner, check to see if any Delivery Station positions open up, they’re always hiring.
i work at a DS in North Carolina DTR8 they just put me on unloading any advice? im not super slow but im not fast by amazon standards either
When picking up packages, you don’t want to bend over.
You got to realize you need to spare your lower back as much as possible.
Do so by either (1) lunging or doing a (2) golfer’s pickup. These keep your back straight.
If you end up not liking Unloading, request to not work there. It’s the most physically taxing position, more so than water spider.

Payday is every Friday.
At my DS - it’s weekly on Friday.
The cool part is, if you’re in a pinch to pay bills - you can opt to sign up for same day pay, of 70% total earnings.
The remaining 30% will roll over to Friday.
Once you start, you’ll be able to enroll via A to Z Amazon app. They’ll mail home a physical card. This is the card that will link up to your direct deposit account.

Damn!. We have manual inductors at our site where we use scanner guns to apply the induct labels. 1/4th of our workforce would be eliminated if they implemented those here
When they implemented these the Inductors got cross trained for another position and moved on w/ their life. Only 3 Avery guns remain, 2 for the flex belts and 1 for the Non-Cons. I’ve never seen anyone get canned, just people having to miss their old positions.

you worked way to fast , you can maybe work a few hours like that , but not 5 days for 8 hours shifts...are you satisfied with your job ?
Yes, some of us in the warehouse like to move fast….because we exercise outside of work so we get to test our fitness.
It’s basically steady-state cardio.
And you move on average 12-14 miles or 18-22k steps each day, which is fine.
When I worked there I was satisfied but I had a heat rash and resigned, I would work again if I could. It’s a fun job.
