Thank you, Ellymae for the great information. I will be testing this tool today with some pens I have wanted to try with my Curio2. I really needed to be shown about the function of the white cap.
Thank you for these tips. I had frustrations with my Type C pen adapter. Messy drawing (pen was too loose) - and I broke the collar the first time around too. I wish Silhouette would make sturdier adapters. Sigh. I guess I will have to order another if I want to try again. It would be nice to have a metal collar.
Hi dear, how are you? I have a question that maybe you can help me with. How do you make the letters draw in a single stroke? Because in the tests I did, it always draws the outline (I think they are called bubble fonts). I didn't find any configuration to solve this (I don't want to draw the outline and then use fill options). And the other thing I noticed is that everything is done in little pieces, it doesn't follow the entire line of the text but draws a few millimeters, lifts, rests, draws a few more millimeters... To make a simple card it takes several minutes -.- Thanks
You have to use a fill if you want the letters to be filled in. The width of the line drawn will be dependent on the pen tip size. The way tool 2 is designed that is how it does function when drawing. It is slower than Tool 1 because of the behavior, but has a few more options such as using wider bodied pens in the adapter.
Ugh. I think i bought the wrong ones and won't know until they arrive. :( its almost a year since the cameo 5 release and some of these itemsare hard to get! Had a heck of a time finding the embossing mat and now I cannot find the type C pen holders.
Had the exact same issue with the collar cracking. Perhaps a word to Silhouette America is needed from everyone this is happening to. They might be able to make it from another type of material to prevent this from occurring.
I'm sorry.... that isn't enough information for me to begin troubleshooting with. Which machine model? Which pen holder? Is your machine recognized fully in the software? What software version are you using?
Hi EmmyMae, Firstly thank you for posting this video after my comment your last video on the Cameo 4 pen holder & not sure if this is the place to ask this question but wasn’t sure what to do & am looking for any answers. - I will apologise in advance for my long post. Please be patient with me as i am a relatively new convert to Silhouette after having a Cricut but I am having a few issues with cutting cardstock. These boxes i made the other day with a few trial & errors. However, yesterday when i went to make this intricate birthday card, I ended up giving up sfter about 6 attempts & got a different cardbut still no joy. My Cameo 5 would cut maybe 1 or 2 pieces & the it would go through all the motions as if it was cutting but upon looking at the end result - there were no lines to be seen & certainly no cutting. I would restart my Cameo 5 & Design studio & the same thing kept occurring. Unfortunately I am unable to attach a photo of my boxes & the card i was attempting to make. Not sure how I can do it on here or if I am able to.I would be very grateful for any help regarding this issue & help with intricate cuts. It is making me think I made a mistake by changing & I really dont want to feel like this.
@trishturner7026 follow this video exactly step by step and make sure the blade is installed & locked in properly, then do a blade housing reset. ua-cam.com/video/Qec-SNhLCzw/v-deo.htmlsi=OhvrB1MeUPRHi0KK If you still have issues, I would need to see photos to proceed with troubleshooting. I was just thinking that today. A metal collar would be great!
Or an option to buy only a replacement collar and not the whole set

where'd you find the embossing mat? I'm also looking
Can the old pen adapter work in the cameon 5?
Yes - I cover that right at the beginning of the video. The Type B pen holder can be used in Tool 1 housing of the Cameo 5.
@SilhouetteSecrets aorry i must have missed that.

my machine no detected penholder, why?
