Thank you for this video! I was able to replace the front bearing and get rid of the constant grinding noise. I was going to call a technician but I’m so glad this video helped me do it on my own 👍

THANK YOU!!!! This is a very informative DIY. I watched a video a few months ago and he did not explain in detail how to reassemble the front and top I didn't have the left side replaced properly.
I was worried about lint build up. Again, thank you, I reassemble the dryer within 15 minutes without cursing, LOL.

This looks like my dryer so this video is a great help. I need to fix a grinding noise. Dryer is only a couple years old and already has problems. Used to be that a GE product would last for years before servicing.

Hey there, This is an informative Video, That being said, It over simplifies the method of installing the drive belt, I recommend, With the drum removed the Idler needs to be wired to the vent pipe to hold the tension while the belt is placed on the motor pulley then once the belt is in place and the idler lined up a person can cut the wire.

There is an easy way to install the belt. First remove the drum. There are notches in the top of both side panels for the rear of the drum to get it out.
move the tensioner to the center of the drier and pull the tensioner shaft forward and lock it under the motor mount tab.
Reinstall the drum and install the belt along side the tensioner pulley.on top of the shaft, put the belt on the motor then on the pulley then move the shaft to the rear to free it from the tab. That is it!

The dryer in the video looks exactly like my dryer except for it doesn't have the 2 little screws inside the door there that secures the top panel. It doesn't have any screws on the front but the only thing I found is a square opening on the top front side and when I look up in through the opening there looks like there is some sort of yellow cross shaped thing up in there that looks like it might be what is holding the top panel down on the front. But it is very difficult to get to even do anything. I know I won't get a reply back in time so I'm going to assume that this is what I'm looking for and I think I'm going to make a video of myself figuring it out and I will share it with you after. Lol

Taking the belt on and off looks easy when you can get both arms in there like that. How did you get both arms under and around the drum. I can only get one arm in on the bottom right if the drum over the blower vent to reach the pulley. There isnt enough play left under the left side to get my arm in to reach the pulley and even if there was , it seems like you would have to have 4 ft arms to reach around the drum like that! How , what I missing? it took me 15 min to get that stupid belt back on with one hand yesterday just to change a thermal fuse.

    • @peachtreeappliancerepair2140

I had to go deeper and replace the blower fan due to a lint clog.
Only question I'd love some advice on it the best way to and where to put the idler pull bracket back in under the motor.

Help! I did all of this BUT you didnt show the other components. I believe the thermal fuse needs to be changed as everything else (drum, door switch, on/off switch) works. But the dryer still wont turn on. The back of the dryer doesn't look like you can take it off so I'm assuming everything is behind the drum. Please help

That model isn't quite the same as our video so you are correct it doesn't have the same screws. You have 2 clips located between the lid and the door panel top. It's possibly the 2 screws are at the bottom of the front panel near the ground. Look for ( hopefully) the 2 screws at the bottom, remove them and try to swing/pull from the bottom. Hopefully this helps! Good luck.

I figured it out and wanted to leave this here in case others need this info. Between the case front and top lid, there are 2 push clips where the screws connect on most other dryer models. Use a flat screwdriver or other slim shim to push the clip in while prying the top lid up.
