    Wonderful job! I recently attacked my first wiring harness from scratch for my 1969 Sereies 2a 109, took the same approach of planning sections at a time and kept everything tight in the loom. Can't wait to see this start up!

      Awesome! I’ll have to do the same with my 67 109 as well I’m sure. One step at a time is all it takes right?

    Hi Joe, The first bit of the LS Defenders bespoke new wiring loom looks amazing, looking forward to seeing the rest of the vehicles loom being created. Great to see Sasha out side and off her bed, it looked like she was really enjoying the sunshine and the fresh air. Keep up the great work, can’t wait for the next LS Defender update. 😎👍

      She is stoked about the sun finally showing. Me too haha.

      @@LostCauseRanch I wouldn’t be surprised to see her posing in a pair of sunglasses LOL 👍😎 can’t wait for things to start warming up this side of the pond also. 🤞

    Thanks for the very detailed wiring video as it will help others understand...Well done...Bravo.

      Hope it gives some ideas out there on some direction to go. It’s not the end all be all but hopefully it helps.

    The loom does look great Joe. The mesh loom and fibre tape looks the goods! The only thing I would have done different was have separate supply circuits for all the lights at the back, but that's just me building a self imposed redundancy, that way if there is a wiring or circuit fault issue at least have the other light working.

    • @LostCauseRanch
      @LostCauseRanch  Рік тому +1

      There is some separate power circuits. Tail lights, brake lights, reverse lights are all on their own individual circuits. But I also want to keep it at a somewhat reasonable amount of circuits on the total.

    Great job 👌
    Only thing I would've done was run the earth to the front as well to cut down on finding earth faults in the future.

    • @LostCauseRanch
      @LostCauseRanch  Рік тому

      You are probably right in the simplicity of troubleshooting a single earth if it was ran back up front. Hopefully I just keep everything grounded fine though haha. On the other hand, the ground will be right near the light if we ever need to sort anything out back there with less length of wire and junctions to go through. Merits on both ways of doing it though. Appreciate the feedback as always, enjoy that you always keep me thinking!

    I used the same style braided split loom on the swap in the Jeep. I also hate the cheapie plastic stuff that gets brittle from heat. I also have some fabric tape that wraps the ends much nicer than plain electrical tape. Kept the stock weatherpack connectors, though. Looking forward to the next update!

    • @LostCauseRanch
      @LostCauseRanch  Рік тому

      Nothing wrong with the weather packs. I just prefer the duetsch if I’m going to start from scratch on them.
      Great minds think alike on the loom and tape haha.

    well done. The worst one I ever had to make was AW4 (electric controlled transmission) swap into my YJ, had to splice it into the ECM and make a huge complicated harness. I secretly enjoy wiring haha

      I’m with you. As long as I’m doing it at my own pace wiring is kind of therapeutic.

    Hey man you are a land and range Rover genius,no doubt in my mind.
    If you have a spare minute I have the dreaded air suspension issue.
    It's a 2010 land rover lr4 hse with 129,000 miles on it.
    First it started a few weeks ago sagging in the rear so I set it at the high position left it over night.
    Woke up to it sagged way down and thought I had a flat tire.nope just that rear passenger sagged bad.
    So I set it at like the midway height over night again, the whole vehicle sagged low. So I did what a few on UA-cam had done and raised it to the point I like it to the highest height and popped the hood and took covers off the battery and fuse box cover and pulled the yellow 26E I think it is.the air suspension fuse anyways.
    That worked for a couple weeks and love it.woke up this morning and it sagged about an inch all the way around.
    So I did the same put the fuse back in raised it high then pulled the fuse again but this is going to be te pattern until I figure out what's causing it.
    Just wondering what your thought on it are?
    I wouldn't think it's all 4 air bags leaking at the same time.
    But if not what else is there that would make it sag if the system is off after pulling the fuse.
    I hope you can point me in the right direction with your thoughts on this issue.
    Thanks man,
    Dan

    my harness on my 300 tdi double cab has 4 x wiring harnesses spliced together from a td5 and a tdci with home made dash clocks etc then i have a 15 wire separate wiring harness through relays to my upper roof lights beacons spots work lights etc

      @LostCauseRanch  Рік тому

      That is exactly why I kind of figured starting from “scratch” would be the right love on this one. Between integrating the gm harness for the LS3 and everything else, I would be chopping apart a defender specific one anyways.

    Great videos! Can you do an LS swapped defender but with a 6 speed manual?! There are a lot of us out here that love a 3 pedal manual for off road!

    • @LostCauseRanch
      @LostCauseRanch  Рік тому +1

      That is definitely possible, and the next Defender build down the road may be that. Need to finish this first though haha.

      @@LostCauseRanch id give you a deposit for the adapters and wiring harness if you did a video and sold the parts after to make the swap. I’m looking at drivetrains from a c6 vette but would just need everything to make it work.
