Oh I thank the dear Lord for UA-cam where I can still hear George sing in his baritone and Glen sing again. I had the unique pleasure of hearing them in person many times before the Lord called them to sing in the heavenly choir
Mack Taunton is one of the 4 or 5 greatest pure singers in southern gospel music history. So underrated and underappreciated. The ending right there is better than anybody else ever did it

I can remember 'way back when I was a teenager we had an old 78 rpm record with this song on it. I loved it then and still do. I wish I could remember the quartet that sang it.
If the 78 had Rainbow of Love on one side and The Laughing Song on the other side, then it was recorded by this group… The Cathedral Quartet, better known as The Cathedrals. I, myself, have this 78.
George hits a low B in this one at 3:47. I guess that's B1, the one that's in the space below two ledger lines below the bass clef. I heard him hit Bb1 multiple times in this concert.

Ken Turner and the crystal river boys vs the cathedrals vs JD Sumner,, Rainbow of love,,, the winner is...........Ken Turner and the crystal River Boys!!!!!!!!
Ken Turner sounds a lot better because he sings from the chest making it more smooth and pleasant sounding. While JD Sumner is almost pure bass, i personaly think JD hit the lower note and sounded better
I heard all 4 bass singers George Younce, JD Sumner, Ken Turner, and Tim Wiley. I think The Cathedral sing this better of the group but Ken Turner get lower then all of them. But the Cathedral sing this song better then any group I have heard.
Kyle - certainly. BUT, Ken's vocal fry mix sounds better than JD Sumner's pure bass. To me, the thing that counts is which singer hits the lowest note while sounding good and stable.
Wow, George has a really cool voice-style. Resonant and strong. But I wish somebody would post this song from JD Sumner. I´ve searched for it everywhere, but i`ve never found the whole song. JD goes much lower, I think down to C#1. I would like to here that.
DonSchanteloni the way I have it is by Apple Music but I think you can just search up Masters V Rainbow of love and it will show the one that has the C#1 in it

I know the difference very well, and I will shit all over the elitists who will place means before results in music. The point is the end result - if it sounds better, it IS better. True bass or vocal fry mix - whichever sounds better is the one I like better. JD sumner may be a better bass singer range-wise, but Ken Turner makes the rainbow of love sound better.
Señor Pevan than who? Deeper than JD Sumner???? Just for educational purposes , JD’s lowest note was a G0 whilst Ken’s lowest note is only a C1 but both are vocal fry so I guess you can compare who is a better bass singer based on tone and smoothness on going to the low notes but I’d personally prefer JD Sumner over anyone and George Younce then Big Chief Wetherington as well as Bill Gaither who doesn’t go very low because he is shy but listen to Low down the chariot and he goes pretty low for him on that song or at least from what I’ve heard.
