We? Whait ,you tell you are the owner of the money of the people who personally and individually contributed to the restoration ? Get your hands in your pocket and stop telling other people where they can and can't give money
I like how they are quick to send money to a building in another country and not towards building for homelessness in America. I'm sure there are people that do donate to the cause of homelessness but there is more at stake in our economy here in America more so than a old building in France. I'm sure it was an inside job. This just doesn't spontaneously happen
Isn't the archdiocese of Paris responsible for the Cathedral? Why isn't the church footing the entire bill instead of the public? News reporting should cover essential information about these types of prevalent questions. Maybe including more elementary facts would stop so much of the rushing to judgment and theorizing. In any event, I would certainly like to know what the church's financial responsibilities are about this, with respect to its own procedure as well as French and international law.
Notre Dame, like many other cathedrals in France, is classified as a national monument. As such, it is considered property of the French state, not the Church.
@@kampernoelie. Thank you for that information. (: That sounds like an important part of the whole story. Although I'm sure there's lots more elements to the church and state division of responsibility for the Notre Dame cathedral. For one thing, there is a prelate system and the institution is an active resource for the church. For example, mass is held there.
"to suggest that all such donations should receive a 90% tax deduction. In other words, the French public should pay for most of its beloved billionaires’ generosity. The suggestion was swiftly withdrawn, but its proposer is no naïf. A former culture minister, Aillagon knows that charitable giving in France attracts a 60% tax rebate: so for every €100m some industrialist papa gâteau wants to chip in, the public will pay €60m. This building survived worldwar and the French Revolution and 800yrs later a fire? Come on,
Please what caused the fire.
@Nicht von dieser Welt

That, but its also idiotic cause the owners of the Cathedral (the Roman Catholic Church) has more than enough money.
Maybe those who can’t even provide for them self, shouldn’t have children.
ur an idiot
I wish no-one had you.
Maybe there shouldn’t be so much wealth inequality in the first place.

@@irenedavo3768 I'm too busy celebrating the anniversary of April 21, 753 BC.
I'm not sure what % of the poor would be responsible with donated money.... but I have a feeling many would spend it on drugs, booze, and cigarettes.
So the church should just keep it? N not help at all?
@@theparodychannel7842 yes🗿
...the whole point of a church is that u give so it helps the community and others..that's literally why you give
