We were on the AmaBella and were in Passau on Easter Sunday! I didn't go to the service but was able to pop into the back and hear the organ and the musicians performing the Halleluia Chorus at the end of the service. It was spectacular. As a musician, I really wanted to see the organ, but it was really torn up. It still sounded great though. I'm having fun recognizing so much from your videos. We even went into the vending machine place! A lot of people on our boat got colds too, including me and my husband. We had thought of going on the Magna, it would have been fun to meet you if we had ended up on the same week!
Passau is my family's hometown!! I have fond childhood memories visiting with my Oma and other family members. Passau is an absolutely beautiful town. I'm glad you got to visit and now I get to see your video of my beautiful town.!!!
Thanks for that vlog. I grew up near Vilshofen and went to school there. It’s fun to see how tourists see my home, where I know every corner. Also fun, that I blog about travelling in the states, and to see another blogger who blogs about Germany. Hope you enjoyed it.
And the three rivers are different colors! Passau was one of my favorite places on our Grand European River cruise! So enjoy reminiscing while I watch your videos!
The Baroque style was a reaction to The Reformation. The extremely pleasing, elaborate style was meant to inspire, to create awe, to create emotional involement in an effort to minimize people leaving Catholicism for Protestatism. The concept then spread from Churches/Cathedrals/Basilicas to other types of structures, decorations, paintings, jewelry. The word likely originated from the Portuguese word for irregular pearl.
We stayed in Landshut Germany and rode the train to the Munich Octoberfest back in the late 80's. It was free to get in and did not have to make reservations. One of the tents we went into everyone was singing American songs in english. People were standing on the tables drunk and having the best time. We loved it and want to do it again! And the beer was good
Thank you for doing a superb job on this series. I took the similar cruise on Viking several years ago. You explain everything perfectly and in such a calm demeanor. Excellent. Thank you!
I have enjoyed your videos of your river cruise. I was on a Christmas cruise on the Amanda in December. You have brought back so many memories. You had a few different stops but many the same. What a great way to see Europe.
Hey - I'm a Bavarian girl. Great video. I love Passau and Vilshofen, where we owned a historic old farm house. Great memories of wonderful weekends there. Have fun in Munich - that's the capital of my beloved Bavaria. Yeah, I was born in Munich and lived nearby until we moved over to French-Polynesia. But I'm still in daily contact with my son, my brother and rest of family - all living still in Munich. If you need information about interesting places to visit in Munich or area around, just let me know. Greetings from Moorea (sister island of Tahiti) 🌴 🏖 😎 🇵🇫 🇫🇷 🇪🇺
Loving your River Cruise videos!!! Keep them coming!

FYI: This cathedral and also the one in Vienna (they have shared history somewhat, because of Passau) named after St. Stephen the catholic saint (born in ~5AD, Jerusalem ). The St. Stephen Basilica in Budapest was named after the first king of Hungary who later became accepted as saint (born in 975, Esztergom, Hungary, but his original, Hungarian name was Vajk and he got the "Christian name" after the other St. Stephen...).
You mentioned in another video that you have sinus problems. I do too, especially in the Spring when trees are blossoming. It’s horrible. Sometimes it has made me feel like whole face is under pressure, including my ears and teeth. I have found that avoiding dairy produce (butter, milk, cheese) is hugely helpful in managing my sinus problems. I adore cheese, so it’s not something I find easy. I generally switch to soya milk and have started using nutritional yeast instead of cheese in some recipes. It’s worth it to avoid the pain though. It does make things difficult when travelling, so I often choose vegan options, even though I am fine with eating eggs, meat and fish.
Hello. My sister and I really enjoy watching a lot of your videos. Thank you so much for your detailed information on all your trips. I have a question. I’m planning to go to Europe on a Royal Caribbean Oasis class ship and was wondering how reliable and fast the internet is onboard. I’m a teacher and I’m thinking about meeting my class via Zoom to teach for 3 hours every day. If the Internet isn’t good, I’ll probably need to ask for a substitute. Your help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you 🙏

We were in Passau on Sunday and got to hear that beautiful pipe organ, the largest in the world! The church was absolutely gorgeous.

You need to go back for the Christmas Markets.
My wife and I are taking this very cruise in early fall, 2024. I wish I knew what the Danube river levels are predicted to be in mid to late Sept.
On the statue you didn’t mention the hidden Mickey. It was upside down but Mickey was there.lol

V is pronounced like F. A little confusing because W sounds like a V !
Well I never! For a land filled with apple pastries they didn't even have cider for those who don't drink beer?! Hmph! LOL
Cider isn’t really a thing here 😮, that’s why we went to Maine last year in fall to have a proper mulled apple cider 😁
