Hi! We love watching your channel - we love to cruise, too, and have followed lots of your and Jason's tips and tricks :) Random question, Alisa, for the leisure/athletic shorts you have listed. Would you size up, or down? We leave in two weeks for another Caribbean cruise on NCL, and I do believe these shorts are a must-have for me to add to my luggage (which I am going to try REALLY hard to minimize after watching your video.... and after dozens of trips of myself overpacking. lol. ) Thanks for all that you guys do - we appreciate your channel a ton!
You are minimalist. I take a first aid kit, Lysol & Febrese sprays, Downey Wrinkle Release, night light, chargers, towel bands, clothes pins, tide detergent for a load in the sink, etc! I'm afraid to be without.
Right….my clothes & shoes can fit in 2 cubes……then the rest of my suitcase is all the ‘stuff, I can’t be without’. Lol. We also have a pretty large first aid kit that we never leave home without. 😂😅
@@lbreck1114 plus other basic stuff like razor, toothbrush, nail clippers (those can almost be a life saver in some cases), etc. As a bigger guy (XXL shirts, size 14 shoes), I just haven't found a way to pack for a cruise with just a carry on and personal item. For shoes, I bring water shoes, travel slippers (so I'm not walking around the cabin barefoot), something a little bit dressy (I honestly usually go with a pair of solid black walking shoes/sneakers for this), and lightweight hiking shoes (wearing the bulkiest pair). For clothing, I usually bring about 4-5 days worth of casual clothes, a few options for the main dining room (even though I can reuse, I don't want to show up EVERY night wearing the exact same outfit), a few swim suits, and ALWAYS bring at least a lightweight jacket (or more if going to a destination like Alaska). I use the laundry on the ship so that I don't need to bring 7+ days of clothing. Once you factor in tech stuff like a GoPro (with extra batteries), laptop, chargers, charging cables, etc. the space in a carry on and personal items gets chewed up really quickly. On my last 2 trips, I was able to make 2 carry on size bags (one checked) and a personal item work just fine. The checked bag definitely doesn't need to be a huge one and keeping the bag smaller makes it super easy to stay below the typical 50lb weight limit.
I packed for a Mediterranean cruise in a personal item backpack. Though I usually use packing cubes, I found I used less space by not using them this time. I also had a cross body purse. I was able to fit five tops, four bottoms, three dresses, two pairs of shoes, one windbreaker and a swim suit. I packed two scarves. In addition I did pack some first aid items but fit more serious issues there is medical help on board. I packed a toiletries bag and a few makeup and hair items. I wore a neutral outfit with a navy poplin blazer. I also packed a foldable tote which my husband used on our way back. I should mention that we spent eight day travelling around Italy prior to the cruise. Once on the ship I did wash a few items. Because it was the end of May so I didn’t need heavy clothes. In addition to all that, I bought souvenirs and a cotton dress and a top.
I always pack the shoes at the bottom because they are heavier. When you pick up the case things settle and that’s when I squeeze in a hat or some other small things. Underwear and socks go in the toes of the shoes.
I was taught to put the shoes in the rails of the suitcase for weight as well as odd ball things like a small hair dryer, brush, etc. Would love to see you pack your backpacks and what actually goes in them. You had room to pack the folder so maybe you don't care on the return. I use packing cubes, some are compression ( things that I don't care if they wrinkle like pjs) as well as folding some items. My personal item has my kindle, meds, travel stuff, snacks, phone and chargers, laptop, etc. Everyone packs differently and what works for one may not work for another. Like this video!
I packed a carryon and backpack each for my hubby and i for a total 35 day trip - 10 days in italy, a 10 day cruise to greece, italy and a 2 week Transatlantic cruise back to the us. I did laundry onboard the first and Transatlantic cruise. You can do it!!! I used packing cubes which made it easier to pack and unpack.
We like to take our pillows and I have a half suitcase of vitamins I take, so I don't see a way to pack all that in a carry on. But great video....thanks
This came at a great time. Although I am not going to on a cruise but I have three school out of city/state field trips and I need to carry a small bag. Do you have pics or videos wheee you’re wearing those cute skirts and the shorts?
Mix and match is totally the way to go LOVE the Folding "folding" tip where I find t on you Amazon store? tried to check your store but no idea where you have it saved. I had t save from the original video since you removed that and reposted it was removed and I can't find what section you posted in at the store. Bonus when you get free laundry as a perk.
Canadian airlines are charging for carry on luggage and it is checked so that is a game changer for Canadians. We now travel with larger luggage since we have to check it anyway.
The exception, at least for Economy Air Canada flights, is that if you are connecting to an international destination you can bring a carry on and a personal item. The personal item only rule applies if you are travelling within Canada, to and from the US, and to and from Mexico, Central America, and Caribbean. I’m traveling to Costa Rica tomorrow and I booked business class which allows a free personal item and carry on as well as two free checked bags. I’m a senior citizen so those long flights in economy are too challenging.
Wow! You pack a lot of clothes for a week! I take about half of what you take, but that's me. I also roll my clothes too. I also have a small overnight bag for toiletries, medicine etc. It fits under the seat in front of me. I found it at Goodwill It was the best $5 I've ever spent.
i am going on a cruise in an few weeks but my problem is how do u pack for two different climates. winter adn summer. i am coming from australia to orlando to go on wonder of the seas and never been that way before. i am assuming it is going to be ahrd. i wont wear jeans on the cruise because that is somethign i wont wear and now i am wondering how to do it.
I do the packing for both of us as well. Yes, the shoes. Especially men's shoes are where you need to be creative. Now do you take extra suitcases / backpack for electronics? What about medicines? The items you have packed for you both look like for the warmer cruises. We are going on an Alaska 16-day cruise and there is no way in heck I can pack in just a carryon. Also, what if you buy gifts? Where would they go? I purposely take a large suitcase because I know I will buy gifts to bring home and usually it's a lot of t-shirts and hats. Excellent demonstration on packing carry on suitcase. Thanks for sharing!
I have a video on the channel from a couple of years ago for Alaska. We actually take a carry on there too. I just spent two weeks there with my grandaughter and we each were packed in a carry on. I don't but many gifts so they few I do buy will fit in my backpack. Jason's backpack is all for our electronics. I have a first aid kit with our meds and it was in one of our bags. Hope this helps!
What about hot rollers? Etc….. I started trying shampoo bars, conditioner bars, body wash bars…..they won’t spill and they work great! But….i like my hot rollers……
Does that carry on fit the new size requirements if been seeing and reading about lately. One stat said 60% of people’s bags are too large. Also apparently they are getting particular about the weight - 22 pounds being that limit
In about may of 2025, they will have new bag sizers at the gate. They are cracking down. I think the size was stated 21x14x9. They’ll gate check that bag. I guess 60% of the carry on bags used now will be too big.
Sorry but that carry-on is way too big for any trip from Canada! You would have to check that carry-on in. They are also checking the weight of the carry-on luggage! I have noticed when travelling that the US travellers get away with their extra large carry-on’s!
Just curious what airline you would have a problem with? This is a standard size carry on. Yes if you expand it, it is larger but I just use the expansion when packing and then zip it closed. I have flown from Quebec City, Vancouver and Alberta with these cases and not had a problem.
@@EECCTravels I believe she's talking about Air Canada now charging low-fare flyers for their carry on luggage - think it only started late 2024. Good packing tips though!
That luggage is way too big (especially width-wise) for a carryon on the plane. Also, too many clothes to take. I tend to do mix and match so that you wont need that many clothes. I believe that with all the clothes she is taking will end up in a checked-in luggage.
Who goes on a week's cruise? It would be 14 minimum and a Trunk required to pack without folding and creasing cool linen or cotton Jackets and trousers and the formalwear for dinner, more important for the ladies, my wife would never wear the same dress to the same venue more than once, so a different dress for every formal night. Shorts should never be worn anywhere except on a beach or around a pool. People walking around in shorts other than those places is abhorrent. Fly cruises are a no no. Pick the cruise up from one's closest home cruise port, Cruises to almost anywhere call or start at the Port of Cork in IE, even in Winter.

Medications? Tylenol, cold medicine??

The skirt idea is great! I'm going to try to find what you have❤🎉

I could watch this all day.
You forgot pajamas. What about a sweater for the cold theater or bar?
That bag is huge for our carry-on Canadian carriers.

What is a good brand that’s not expensive but good quality? We have a similar trip this spring and would like to be a minimalist with packing.
How do you pack your electronic/power supply and medicines?
We like to take our pillows and I have a half suitcase of vitamins I take, so I don't see a way to pack all that in a carry on. But great video....thanks
Yes, those are definitely exceptions to the carry-on rule.
No, you obviously couldn't pack pillows in a carry on. I guess this isn't the video for you. 😂
No bug spray?

Love those shorts but can’t seem to find the link for Amazon
Do you have a packing video for a two week Mediterranean cruise?
I don't but would pack pretty much the same as here. For two weeks I would probably do laundry halfway through instead of brining more clothes.
Ordered the skirts and shorts off your links:)) Thank you.
You are so welcome! Hope you love them!

I heard that too. They’re unifying the bag size to 21x14x9.

I didn't see the folding cheater packed. The clothes won't be folded the same to get them in the luggage for a return trip.

no PJs? no robe or shirt to use over your bathing suit? no beach towel? no charger cables and adaptors? no sweater?
I put underwear in shoes. Also, shaver, brush, jewelry daily pill container
