We love A. Robinson! This was my first 80s 1/10 hobby-ish car. It was 1985 Sears Super Lobo. It was yellow, had a RS540 motor and took a 7.2V battery. We used to have a dept. store in the US called Sears. There Nikkos were called Lobos. These were REALLY expensive. I can't believe how much my parents spent.
Hi there , hope your well, I’m familiar the Sears Lobo , lobo meaning wolf I think. It was an expensive toy back in 1985 and probably more expensive than a Tamiya grasshopper or hornet which are similar buggy’s. That, like you’ve said would have been an expensive present. Cheers and take care
Now that takes me back, i got my son one of those from a yard sale back in 1989, he was only a year old, sadly it got lost when we moved but 7 years later, he got got a Tamiya Blitzer Beetle. Great little buggy, awesome flash back for me... GFJ Mate!!!
I think there such a cool buggy , but I’ll be upgrading the electrics in mine. I think Nikko leased the design to a few manufactures, Traxxas as the Cat and the Spirit, RadioShack as the golden arrow to Name a few. Thank you for watching :)
I see you’re wearing a John Deere shirt. We live in the land of John Deere , the quad cities. We live on the Iowa side, the main plants are across the Mississippi River in moline Illinois. Love the f-10.
Just a heads up, the Thunderbolt came with less powerful electronics than the Rhino and Bison and was paired with either a 380 or a de-rated 540 motor with about the same power as the 380 motor. Similar electronics and motor were fitted to the Nikko Scorpion truck. None of this is necessarily bad, especially with such and old and good condition buggy (less likely to wreck it lol) but if you find it seems to have a little less oomph than the Golden Arrow, that's the reason, not because there's anything wrong with it. If you hobby grade it, swap the motor for the full fat 27T 540 or similar and it will make a big difference.
Hi there cheers for the info, I had heard on some of the forums that there was a 380 motor version or a d-rated 540 with not as good electrics, looks like I bought it ;) so cheers for confirming that. I am goons swap out the electrics in this at some point , just need to buy a shortie servo mainly but it’s all good , a project for the future , thanks for messaging and watching
Hi Andy! Love these retro buggies, it's where it all started for me, lusting after a decent 1/10 buggy back in the day. You did well getting this one, looks in great condition considering the age, and it still functions - bonus! Looks awesome, and I agree - "iconic" is the correct term to apply to this car! Great stuff - hope you don't have to get rid of something too precious in order to keep this one! Take care, fella! :O)
Cheers Mark , I’m managing to keep this one, totally love it , but I think I’m gonna upgrade the electrics on it to make it more useable , it really simple to do, just needs to get in the que ;) cheers for watching Mark take care
Ah, now that brought back memories!! I remember seeing those Nikko buggies, the late 80's was when I got into RC cars. I never had one of those, I had some other pre-built car that was way too slow, so my mate at the time soldered a couple of extra AA battery holders in, cable tied them to the rear wing and installed a switch to go between 8 and 12 AA batteries. And on 12 AA batteries it didn't half shift ;) Anyway, cool buggy, great video as always mate, keep up the good work and I hope all is well with you and you family!!
Hi Barry, cheers for watching, family is all good thank you :) hope your well. I love the idea of kids modding things to make them go faster , kind of what we do now as big kids as well ;)
@@andyrobinsonrc2480 I'm good thanks mate. Currently waiting for a few small bits so I can rebuild the 2nd hand Serpent Spyder SRX2 MHT that I got recently:)
@@andyrobinsonrc2480 I think they should do it I think it would be viable Tamiya does it with re-releases they can do the same I feel there is no excuse in my mind. I think it will keep them afloat instead of going out of business for a whole year.
I’ll try when I swap the electrics out, I don’t want to break anything on it, as it’s not like just stripping It down like in a Tamiya , they have a lot of press for parts as well.
I don’t have a red arrow. Never had one before. The red and golden arrow have different chassis. Red arrow shared its chassis with the thunder fox etc.

Cheers Bob, you can’t beat old memories and nostalgia can you ;) I love these old buggy’s something about them .
Looks very cool. Reminds me I have two Nikko Bison’s that is still waiting for a project. Basically the Turbo Bandit’s Big Brother.
Licensed to Traxxas? That was new to me

Cool!! Nice bit of nostalgia there.
Cheers ;) I do love my nostalgia , I’m planning to upgrade the electronics so I’m hoping it will be more on par with a hornet evevtually
@@andyrobinsonrc2480 Be good to see it running 👍🏼

Thays cool I have one myself probably should get it out for its yearly run lol great buggy
Aye you got to keep thoes axles turning
Hi Andy Pandy, i didn’t know this was a Tractor channel man, green and yellow colours of John Deere, yuk lol 😝
Since Nikko is still in business they really need to bring back these old vintage cars cuz they're better than what they have out now.
I’d love to see Nikko re release a F10 or similar but I don’t think they would see it as a viable business model.

cool rc and info
Many thanks, glad you liked it and found it useful :)
They did the spirit and there was a cat that they made.
That’s right Traxxas The Cat , would like to find one. The spirit had a truck body and slick tyres, I remember my neighbours grand son had one.
You should GPS all the cars that compared to this please.
congrats on the 1k ;)
Hi Nicky thank you very much and thanks for watching ;)
Nice nikko
Thank you , I love them
Thinking about putting ball bearings in it too?

What about the red arrow and the Golden arrow aren't the same car? I wish you would at least put some oil filled dampers on those.
