Would love to hear him sing a song that actually means something to him emotionally about a subject he has directly experienced on a deep and profound level. Perhaps that would tap into his 'soul', then maybe the emotion of the performance would take precedence over the showiness. Just my two cents..

Back in the day you had 'a DJ' in 'a station' to help you break out... now days: you tube, Spotify, mix cloud ... the list is long. Celebrate what is, not what was.
