I have been to Alaska three times. First time was on a cruise around 25 years ago. The most amazing view that I remember was Glacier Bay. It was covered with a layer of ice, with seals floating on top. I went again at the same time of year twenty years later, and I was deeply disappointed that the ice was no longer there. Seeing it was a real eye opener for me to witness climate change. It went from nearly everything being white, to green trees and ocean. It was still beautiful, but just wasn’t the same.

I'm an American who's been to NZ's Milford Sound, which has the most ferocious, epic, larger-than-life scenery I've ever seen in my life. It's the crown jewel of NZ. It looked so intense that when I closed my eyes, I could see flickering after-images on the backs of my eyelids - that's how colorful the Fiordland/Milford Sound truly is.

As a Florida born teen, I would say the Northeastern part of the USA is underrated. Yes Maine is in the video with the North Woods being a great place to discover, however the states of Connecticut is underrated with the small towns in the Quiet Corner (northeastern Connecticut just south of Worcester Massachusetts) where you can spend days enjoying the food - from ice cream (the best ice cream in Connecticut is the University of Connecticut Dairy Barn , however every town it seems has an ice cream place) to hot dogs (mostly you might find a person selling hot dogs on the side of the road or from hot dog carts) to hamburger (where it was created) to lobster rolls (Atlanta should try both a hot and cold in her Atlanta's Kitchen video.) to Pizza. Connecticut has history with some of the oldest towns (Windsor and Wethersfield) to a seaport museum (Mystic Seaport) to railroad museums (Essex Steam Train and Steamboat) to other museums (clock and watches, aircraft) to the oldest amusement park in the USA (Lake Compounce, not as big as Disney, not as famous as 6Flags, but it is thrilling place in the summer. If you get ESPN, the HQ is across the street.
Rhode Island might be small, but there's beauty in the shoreline. Massachusetts is another underrated place, where the first shots were fired for the Independence War. Boston has the oldest baseball stadium in America with Fenway. (My recommendation is to park in Framingham, Massachusetts and take the T MBTA in. Western Massachusetts has small towns and culture with painter Norman Rockwell museum and Tanglewood the home of the Boston Symphony Orchestra.
Vermont might has as many cows as people, but the state is a 4 season state spring is Maple Sugaring season, Summer is when tourist will stop on the side of the road and skinny-dip at a swimming hole, Autumn is when the leaf peepers comes out a see the colors on the mountains from the trees and winder for snowmobiling to skiing you can enjoy Vermont and New Hampshire is Vermont with a beach. New Hampshire has a beach on the Atlantic to the highest mountain in New England, Mount Washington. Visit New Hampshire in July and watch NASCAR at the New Hampshire Motor Speedway. (As a race car driver in Florida, it is fun. Not sure if you ever watch Super V8s from Australia, but NASCAR is that. New England has lots of race tracks. It is a sport foreigners should watch ( I love F1, IndyCars and all kinds of motorize sports). My uncle' s family lives in New England, and I love going to it.

As a Utah native, we'd love to have you visit. It's a relatively quiet place with not too many people and the nature is hard to beat. Even if you just hit the most famous places (Zion, arches, Bryce Canyon, etc) it's definitely worth a visit. The people are generally kind and welcoming and the weather (depending on when you come) can be a roller coaster. I'd love for your family to experience it first hand.

Having been to most of the States in my country I can attest to the fact that beauty exists in them all. There are vast differences for sure, but one can appreciate those differences. Some have forests, others deserts, some touch upon oceans and Gulfs and others on Great lakes. There are forested mountains and mountains which look bare and stark, seemingly endless woodlands and seemingly endless open plains. I appreciate the beauty and majesty of them all.

I’m from Michigan. It truly is a hidden gem. Most people outside of the Michigan/Chicago area don’t ever think of visiting so it’s a well kept secret of beauty. Also, I’ve traveled all over the world and nothing beats a summer sunset over Lake Michigan. The sky gets streaks of red, orange, yellow, purple, pink, and you see the sun set over the lake. I grew up in Holland which is a beach town on Lake Michigan and it was a wonderful childhood of climbing sand dunes to watch the sunset with friends and then watch shooting stars at night

I was born and raised in Oregon and the Columbia River Gorge divides Oregon and Washington so it is actually a crown jewel of both states. As a matter of fact, Lewis and Clark went on their expedition in 1804-1806 to find an inner passage way out to the Pacific Ocean. They landed in Astoria, Oregon where The Goonies was filmed. I grew up skiing on Oregon’s mountains and hiking in our forests. Fun fact: My ultimate dream is to visit New Zealand!! I think you are a wonderful family.

We live in the Carolinas and both North Carolina and South Carolina have beaches and mountains, lovely historic places and welcoming cities. In the Upstate there are the Blue Ridge and Smokey Mountains, along with Smokey Mountain National Park......the most visited national park in the US. The outer banks of NC are a whole new world as well as the beaches and salt marshes of South Carolina. That video completely ignored over 1/2 of the US. Come see us!!!!

I LOVE Crater Lake, having been there multiple times. It was formed when a volcano erupted and the center, (caldera), fell down into the top of the mountain, gradually filling with rain and snow-melt which caused it to become the deepest freshwater lake in the United States. There are no underground springs to fill this lake, it's all from snow and rain. It is well with the trip from Portland, as is a ninety minute drice to the coast, to see the Goonies House, or to see Mount Hood at any time of year. Skiing in Winter, or camping at your choice of many nearby lakes in the Summer. Nearby Hood River, (the town, not the River itself), has almost year-round wind conditions on the Columbia River that it has become the Windsurfing capital of the state. Every time I drive past, I see all these people out on the river having fun. Oregon also has mountain ranges, (3), and deserts, where many western movies have been filmed. I liked Oregon so much that I moved here in 1986 and am still here.. Oh, and the best part, there is NO SALES TAX on anything, even cars.
In Colorado, they may have the tallest sand dune, but the ones on the Oregon coast where Frank Herbert's inspiration for his science fiction novel, "DUNE". He once worked in Coos Bay, Oregon and saw the dunes every day, which got his imagination working. Just last year, the THIRD movie of his book came out, (at least Part 1). Native born and raised Californian. Glad it was on there and do have to agree with the problems here. Litter is a major problem, but mostly from all the visitors we get. Every summer, when the season was coming to an end, all the locals would hit the beaches with bags and rakes to clean up and would spend an entire weekend doing it. But it is a price to pay for how beautiful the area is I suppose. One thing I did with a visiting friend, something they'd never realized you could do, was take them to the beach first thing in the morning around sunrise, hit the waves, showered off and drove to the desert for some sight seeing and controlled off-roading and a brunch picnic, from there drove up to the mountains and a late lunch in the forested areas and finished off with a BBQ/bonfire back at the beach for sunset. It was a day to remember.

It's pretty remote, and you can paddle for days on the lakes without seeing another person. Incredible. I was born and raised, and still live, in Oregon. There is so much beauty to love in our state. Portland is definitely unique and “weird”, but once you get out of the city, there are so many things to explore. So many different climates! My favorite thing about Oregon is our four seasons. You get equal parts of Spring, Summer, Autumn, and Winter. It doesn’t generally get too hot here (excluding June 28th, 2021 when it reached 117°F….MASSIVE record set), not too cold. I live in the Portland Metro area and most years, we get 1-2ft of snow (Portland and surrounding cities are in a valley). Summer temps usually are in the 80s-90s with, on average, 7-10 days of 100°F+. The coastline is incredibly beautiful, rivaling many other states’ coastlines. And yes….The Goonies was filmed in our state, about 2 hrs from where I live. Also, the NZ Fam seemed a little confused about Crater Lake. It was an actual volcano that blew its top millions of years ago. It is now dormant and the island in the middle of the lake is the peak of the volcano that fell into itself when it erupted. It is also the deepest lake in the United States, one of the deepest in the world. I welcome anyone to come to our state and enjoy our beauty..just please don’t litter!

Wizard Island in Crater Lake is actually from a later eruption, and also has a tiny lake on the top of it. It used to be Mt Mazama, but the eruption was so strong that it disintegrated most of the mountain. And the hills around the Klamath Basin are dotted with lava rocks that came from Mt Shasta several thousand years ago.
