Great insight, no matter how much power and ackowledge we've got, we couldn't use it to improve our happines... it is really something to think about, we still have the same primitive brain, even the newest anti deppressant are ineffecient to achive that goal

Time. You can only understand yourself if you have an inordinate amount of time.
50,000 years ago, hunter-gather people had enormous amounts of time to think and contemplate.
Today, we have such little time that we have to eat fast food, but fast clothes, and fast delivery of our stuff. We become angry and anxious when things aren’t fast enough.
I didn’t get into the study of politics until I had more time.

Human beings may do things in the hopes that it will make them happy but there is another side to this. In our joyful moments, what we do is an expression of that Joy. The dogs at my local dog run along with the children in my neighbourhood are not doing things in order to be happy. They're play is an expression of their joy and happiness and not a means of attainment.

The more I listen to Yuval, the more I think he might be off-base. Not sure how "happy" he is, yet he prescribes a direction that sounds intellectually appealing that is ultimately ineffective. Loosely evidenced by who he advises and what they are trying to implement.

@@laaaliiiluuu If it works then it would be effective. If you are saying we should "keep trying", then we should consider the cost of what is being proposed. Winning $100 at the cost of $200 is not rational and does not increase overall happiness, it is just shuffling the deck chairs.

@@moycious Every invention was inefficient and costly in the beginning. Just think how much gasoline planes needed to fly and how little they now need (relatively speaking). Some things simply take time to be worth the investment. Or think of children. For many years they only cost your money, time and effort before they even become remotely useful as a social being. Sure, some gambles are always a lose but that's how life works. You fail 99 times and then you succeed.

@@laaaliiiluuu Massive social and behavioral changes based on policy changes and coerced regulations are not like immutable empiric laws that can be tested in a lab and then extrapolated into the known physical realm that we live in. While the Wright Brothers could have ignored a risk/return ratio failing over and over again their bets where based on scientific knowledge. Moreover, they had skin in the game because they were playing with their own lives and fortunes. Rearing a child follows Darwinian instincts and it is perfectly natural for an extravagant expenditure of calories to ensure the survival of your genetic code, a bet that has a good pay off because after all, you can't take it with you. A lot of what is suggested sounds like forced cultural evolution from a beneficent overlord who at the end of the day, still wants to remain in power. To me although it sounds good, it seems misguided, biased and haphazard.
