    You make me laugh 😂 "I am really going to try and do less test knits" .... a few weeks later "So I am starting another test knit" 😂

    i fully relate to having too many podcasts to catch up on; i was in residential treatment for my mental health for a month and came back to an overwhelming amount of content! i just skipped to the most recent podcasts because i didn't have the patience to go back and watch everything lol.

    First, I hope everything is okay regarding your family emergency.
    Thank you for this episode, I have been on the fence for quite awhile with the Noro yarn, please keep us up to date with what you think.
    The Sailor collar cardigan turned out so nice. I have not been brave enough to try a pieced garment, even though everyone tells me they have the best fit.
    Take care.😁

    I almost always go down a size for sewing patterns. If you don't want to just wing it and go down, you could always measure the pattern pieces at the waist, hip, bust, etc and see how much extra ease there is going to be to decide which size you are going to do. I feel like pattern makes assume we aren't capable of correctly measuring ourselves and add extra ease so that we have the option to take things in (can always take out fabric, but not add it)

    I love the cardigan plan! I've knit the Champagne Cardigan, but I added a couple of steek stitches in the center and knit it in the round and then steeked it before I knit the doubleknit button band. It was so much faster for me! Just thought I throw that thought your way while you're planning. :)

    I recently received a Beautiful Syster bag and I can attest to how beautiful it is. Vibrant color, simple lines, nice lining, lovely contrasting leather strap, clean look and roomy enough for a cowl project. Glad you have some for gifting/give aways! Good luck with the Madara yarn. It's beautiful.

    I hope that all is well with your family! . Your yarn and button choices for the sailor sweater are just beautiful, I love the low contrast colors and they work so well together. A trick I use on occasion when I think that an arm seam or a pick-up row looks messy is to just use a tapestry needle and yarn to sew a simple chain stitch over it, and this looks really pretty! I am currently knitting on a long sleeved Ranunculus using a cone of the Woolyknit 100% Merino 4ply in that same colorway that you have, and it is lovely soft yarn. Happy Holidays!

    Velvet also has a nap. I made my daughter a dress for Christmas and turned the back yoke pieces the wrong way. I I got the zipper in before I realized it. Thankfully. It had a bolero jacket that covered my mistake 😂

    I HATE the idea making muslins. Not because it is not important but because I don’t have a lot of time. I end up making “muslins” in less precious fabrics and then I can make the important adjustments before using my special, more expensive fabrics. The result is (ideally) two garments that I like and wear 😅 But we’ll see. That is what I am going to do with my first Hinterland after Christmas making is done.

    hi Kaci! I love your channel. I can tell you spend lots of time editing because your videos are always such high quality!!! I'm not sensitive to mohair but I don't particularly like knitting with it. I notice a lot of patterns have you hold one strand of mohair with a strand of fingering to get a DK gauge. How do you work around this? I've thought of just using a DK held single but I'm worried about not being able to make the gauge. I hope all is well! sending love from FL ❤

    • @YoungfolkKnits
      @YoungfolkKnits  7 місяців тому

      Yes I prefer a single strand of mohair! Or a laceweight wool held with a laceweight suri

    LisaR : I think you may have invented a fashion trend - if it in more noticeable noticeable fabric - do a pair of pants or skirt with gores ( several panels ) each going opposite direction ! Bet that would be really fun ❤

    I love the colors you chose for the Max the Knitter shawl. Charcoal is the predictable choice. I think the brown is edgy and more modern.

    On top of taking a lot of time, muslins take a lot of material. Unpopular opinion: It seems wasteful! If anyone has any good ideas for what they do with their muslins I’m all ears! I typically use top sheets from sheet sets (we’re not a top sheet family) to make the muslins, but I always feel guilty cutting into something that maybe someone could use.
