    The animation skeleton for the old Albinaurics seems like it may be based off of the Oedon Chapel Dweller from Bloodborne, but they don't seem to actually share any animations. No point letting a good rig go to waste, even if you don't need the animations from it.

      Trying to decipher lore gets so difficult for instances like this. We know time passes but we don’t have any measurement of the length of time. Were second gen albinaurics made due to some event or was there a gradual shift over time to what I assume to be easier to produce models?

    It should be noted that Rennala herself shares similarities with the first generation Albinaurics. She doesn't seem to be able to walk anymore when you get to her, and her second phase is meant to be a younger illusion in her prime. Their name seems a bit odd to me, as Albinaurics seems to be stemmed from two words, Albino and Auric, which could then be interpreted as White-Gold, which is essentially silver. Maybe the 'silver' alchemy that can create false life has differing branches, one of which white gold creates the homunculus and the 'silver tear' creates the mimics. Finally it could also allude to their false state of being, as white-gold is 75% gold and 25% nickel/zinc, and thus they are not wholly living, which leads to the curses and flaws.
    Edit: Also Gold is very important in Elden Ring, not so much the material but the concept, such as the Golden-Order and the Golden-Lineage, along with many references to 'strength of gold'. It seems to make gold as the 'proper' existence within the Golden Order and the lands between. Which would then make 'White-Gold' an improper mimicry of life, once again referring to their origins.
    Finally Silver was a very common chemical in chemistry for quite some time, the original vaccines of Louis Pasteur were silver based solutions, which is likely the connection between alchemy, homonculus, and silver.

    In the gardens before fighting Loretta at the Carian Manor, around where the wolves are, there’s a single Miquella’s Lily in a corner. Which felt odd, even given them being rare, to only find one. I’d like to believe it was placed there purposefully, as a way for the Albinaurics intending to leave for the Haligtree to communicate where they had gone to any that might still serve the Carians.

    • @Armameteus
      @Armameteus Рік тому +29

      I got the impression that the different lilies (Miquella's and St. Trina's) were indicators of where the person in question had been, like a place they travelled to or, perhaps more esoterically, a place they had some kind of influence/dominion over. Like they grew there naturally as a result of the presence/influence of those characters. Possibly the same with the locations of St. Trina's arrows found rarely throughout the world.
      There's speculation that Miquella and St. Trina could actually be the same person, since Trina is androgynous and Miquella is depicted as a very young boy with long hair, which could also make him mistaken for a girl. My theory is that the presence of Miquella's Lilies indicates he was there at one point (which is how Loretta learned about him and the Haligtree) and if he and St. Trina are actually the same person, it could also mean any location in which St. Trina's Lilies are found, Miquella was there too.
      I've not done a deep dive on pinpointing the exact locations of the lilies, nor the potential implications of their presence in those locations, but it feels like there's some very deliberate hints being dropped by FromSoft in regards to them and their correlation to Miquella/St. Trina that might be worth investigating.

      @@Armameteus I also just remembered, the Demihuman queens manifest a Haligtree crest when using sorceries and the one found near the Hermit is surrounded by Glintstone sorcerers garbed in academy robes. The staff they use is even supposedly a gift. Maybe Miquella visited the Carians to talk about sending diplomatic missions to foster peace with the demihumans, thus the crest they use. Miquella’s knights also use Glintstone Pebble, so perhaps the Haligtree and the Carians had some significant collaborations. So maybe the lone Lilly does signify Miquella’s influence having taken root amongst the Carians.

      @@MK-xj5by A lot of what was canon in 1.0 doesn't necessarily mean it remains canon in the current version of the game. Much of 1.0 was ostensibly like late-beta content before the first patch and a lot of stuff got rewritten or discarded after that patch, rendering a lot of information from that point in the game non-canon.
      That said, it's heavily implied that many (if not all) of the Haligtree knights were at one point Carian knights that renounced their fealty to the Carians and took up arms for Miquella instead, likely following Loretta's example. The Miquellan Knight's Sword item description states: _"Sword forged by servants of Miquella of the Haligtree, with a design modeled after those carried by Carian knights. Instead of glintstone however, amber from the Haligtree is embedded in the blade."_ So there's some amount of overlap between the Carians and Miquella's knights as they essentially reinvented themselves to better serve the Haligtree.

    I wonder... something I've always pondered is Melina's odd throwaway line during Boc's quest: "Does being born of a mother... Mean one behaves in such a manner?" This, despite her many earlier mentions of her "mother," implies Melina wasn't actually BORN, per say. Given her naming scheme and the missing third from the Miquella/Malenia duo, there's plenty of speculation (and some circumstantial evidence) that the children of Radagon and Marika might be three, with Melina being the missing third.
    Major spoilers onward: Given what we know from Goldmask's questline that Radagon and Marika are... somewhat the same person, or at least two halves of the same whole- it leads me to wonder if the Radagon and Marika children are not in fact real children- but instead have been "created" in some form. This mirrors the albinaurics, too- all three of the Miquella/Malenia/Melina combo can be seen to be "cursed" or "imperfect"- which corresponds to the curse of the albinaurics. It also connects with the albinaurics worshipping the Halingtree as a holy land- perhaps the third combo of demigods is also outside the grace of the Erdtree.

      Yes, I'm glad someone else mentioned this! Radagon/Marika being the same entity clearly cannot have children through non-artificial means, and as seen from the Albinaurics' various curses and maladies throughout their generations, the same types of unnatural defects have arisen in Malenia and Miquella as well. Note that Godwyn, Radahn, Rykard, etc are all relatively 'normal' compared to the offspring of Radagon+Marika. This all definitely fits in with the theme of homunculi/ancient alchemy present throughout the game.

    • @AltFromTheLimbo
      @AltFromTheLimbo 9 днів тому

      I think Melina is just Marika. Either a "projection" of some kind or...and it gets kinda tripy.
      Or Melina is Marika's intent of some sort, cause non of her\Radagon children are real, per say. They are fractions\aspects of Marika' psyche. Cause this Elden Ring, this Lands Between and Land of Shadow, this whole game world is just Marika' fractured mind ( shattered, one might say ) and we are supposed to "reassemble" it so this "God" would find itself and become a True God ( what Jung called " Self " iirc ), guided by that unemotional Melina girl, who always know what to do and can walk freely only near Erdtree. Or bring about the Frenzied Flame of Chaos which is like an actual Insanity and Madness, where conscious mind is just no longer handles this "shattering"
      I also think Marika as a character we see in game represents Spirit ( you never see her "in flesh" if you will ). Radagon is most likely Body ( we fight him, the Body, not Marika the Spirit and Elden Beast uses him as a literall weapon ), Rennala seems to be Mind ( Intellect, cause I mean she's the head of Hogwarts ) and Godfry is kinda blind Faith ( aggressively subdues everything that may harm said "faith" just to be restrained in to this noble "king" afterwards, something Romans did with religion ). And once Marika decides to "seek the depth of" things she believed in ( things that seems to work no more ) she casts this blind Faith " across the fog out of here " and eventually decides to find her true Self through self-psycho analysis ( Alchemy ).
      Maybe she become so lost in her own mind and thoughts and trauma ( the Shadow one must embrace ), that she lost any control and all those aspects manifest themselves as actual characters, who constantly fight each other over dominance, as if every thought in your head is trying to be the loudest mf in there.
      They also seem to be in contradicting pairs, one is against the order and one is all for it.
      Rykard is all about "f*ck this world, my rage will devour it" while Radahn ( their towers are opposing each other ) is "f*ck this world, my rage will BRING GOLDEN ORDER TO ITS GLORY!"
      ( yet both experienced true love toward someone, but I guess Body+Mind duuh )
      Or like Ranni is this lifeless cold doll with no emotions, but pure intellect ( controll ), who tries her best to fight fate, while Malenia is like an epitomy of unrestrained life ( ?libido? ) with zero control over it, who yet tries her best to fight fate ( her blossom ) so she could serve "Marika Jr." or at least die on her own terms ( Melicent )
      And Godrick is all about himself gathering the most power so his ancestor would be proud ( "Me me me, I so f*cking important!" ), but Morgot is there to use all his power to protect what not one of ancestors is is there to protect.
      And it seems that only the Union of Body and Mind have quality results ( superb offspring )
      And it seems there're differences even between siblings.
      Rykard is a body seeking meaning in power. Radahn is a power in body seeking meaning. And Ranni is a pure mind ( no body ) seeking power to obtain freedom ( no meaning or "fate" )
      Malenia is pure vigor ( life ) who lacks will to do what it takes ( become the Goddes of Rot ) while Miquella is pure will to do exactly what it takes and a bit more, yet have no vigor to even move ( that's why he needs Radahn, the most "power" in body )
      Godrick is feeble so he wants power to finally become one of " The You All Guys " purely for himself cause no one loved him (?). Morgot is powerfull so he wants to protect the Golden Order knowing he will never be a part of it though he was loved it seems, at least by dad. And Mogh wants to create his new "The You All Guys" club with newly obtained powers from his newly obtained mom, because it seems that he was not loved ( there's a Mogh's body double in sewers, but not Morgot's, which led me to believe Morgot was able to walk freely from sewers, while Mogh was watched over )
      I still struggle to see who we play as. A line of conscious faith that leads to enlightenment? Is it the fading thread of Order in this fractured mind that we follow?

      The second race might have been modified by the academy to serve as slaves, which is why in the chaos they've taken over mage town leading up to the academy using anti-magic shields.
      There is also possibly a third and most recent race -- the nightfolk who used to bleed silver. What their backstory is is hard to say, perhaps they the creation of human to albinauric sex. They could also have been derived from the Nox in some way too, either as a creation or through blood.

    That along with the disappearing legs and extremely pale complexion are some interesting designs that *_Bloodborne_* used as well with the St. Adeline & the Clocktower Patients, Celestial Minions, and also the Snail Women. I'm quite curious where those ideas came from, especially as the Living Failures have extra fingers the way that the Ancient Dragons & Dragonkin Soldiers do.
    1:30 - The fact that these ones also have little Omen Horns sprouting from them is really interesting, given that they normally have totally artificial blood.

It also makes sense why the Icerind Hatchet is located nearby to reinforce that early connection to the areas in the far north.

    Remembering the potential connections between Rise of the Eldrazi and the numerous Innistrad sets of Magic: the Gathering and Bloodborne, it's neat to see that From may have drawn inspiration from other sets as well, with Miyazaki himself being known to have some interest in the game.

    I wonder if the ghost trees of consecrated snowfield and mountaintops of the giants are related in any way to the Albinaurics, they fade into nothing close to the bottom of their trunks. Honestly, I have no idea at all what's going on with those trees, or the ghostly banners of Altus Plateau outside of Leyndell.

      Right? It bugs me that there's no explanation at all for those things. The stone trees in DS1 had a mystical "beginnings of the world" origin, but the ones below the surface in Elden Ring are never mentioned and neither are the phantom trees above ground.

    The hooded, feral Albinaurics also appear to be specifically the result of torture, rather than a natural occurrence. Per the description of the hoods.
    Said torture may have been just for the hell of it, or another active genocide effort given an association with the Omenkillers.

    Since Albinaurics are basically descendants of artificial shapeshifters, what if the old Albinauric aren't the males of the species but are actually older versions of the female Albinaurics, and the female are like the main form of the first generation? like, we never encounter young male albinaurics, what if they just created a generation, all taking the shape of a woman with a strong connection with wolves (maybe as an artifact of the silver tears being an attempt at forging a lord, so they all imitate Marika and her shadow), and then they slowly mutated into old men?

    • @jonsinatra3194

    • @MitridatedCarbon
      @MitridatedCarbon Рік тому +6

      @@jonsinatra3194 the thing is that's not hard to do, just remove the beard to the old ones and give them an old female voice, or give leggings to the female one and a male young voice. Done. The other thing is Zullie's interpretation seems to be that all albinaurics are created. There are no descendants, only new "generations" like a new generation of irl tech, using new fabrication methods. I suppose this is supported by Latenna and Phila's questline. Your theory could still be valid in that case, but it also raises the possibility that they are only old men and young women because that's what their creators wanted them to be. Old men are stereotypically wise and gifted in magic, so they could make fitting assistants to the sorcerers who created them. Raya Lucaria and Volcano Manor are both magically inclined. Young women are stereotypically good archers in From games (Pharis from DS1, Dolores from Elden Ring). They make good guards. It also could just be because sorcerers are a bunch of shut-in nerds, it wouldn't surprise me at all if they made them that way just to have a pretty face around. They certainly weren't getting any action from lady-sorcerers, they hated Sellen and Rennala. I guess Latenna is the only one left in Liurnia since the women somehow all got wolf companions and rode off to the Haligtree while she stayed to look for the birthing droplet.

    One of the main themes of ER is that everyone is suffering from a wretched fate. Everything slowly and painfully dies, or worse in this universe and no one is an exception to that rule. It’s a much bleaker world than any other universe in the souls series for many reasons, and that is just one of them.

    I am convinced Latenna's quest was going to lead to another mending rune for an Albinauric ending. Fia gestates a mending rune for Those Who Live in Death within her, so does the Dung Eater for the Omen. Latenna says something about the big lady being their hopes and dreams, and offers up an "energy" that heads for her womb. Seems like it would have been consistent with how other groups get a mending rune for their specific faction.
