  • Tony Atlas on Witnessing Bruiser Brody's Murder
WWE Hall of Famer and first black WWE Wolrd Tag Team Champion "Mr. USA" Tony Atlas goes into detail on witnessing Bruiser Brody's (Frank Goodish) murder at the hands of Invader #1 (Jose Gonzalez) in the dressing room of a World Wrestling Council Puerto Rico event (company owned by WWE Hall of Famer Carlos Colon and Victor Jovika) that was ultimately swept under the rug with killer Jose Gonzales never being brought to justice for the cold blooded slaying, even being aloud to wrestle on the card that night after killing Goodish and continuing to work for WWC for decades after the murder as both a wrestler and in the office.

Tony Atlas has never changed his story! Everytime it's the same with maybe a little more detail (as he recalls it over the years).... Atlas is a man I'd go to war with/be in a foxhole with. This should never had been swept under the rug so easily and carelessly... Pathetic!

Dave Meltzer talked about that in one of his interviews. Brody's widow explored that option but chose not to for a few reasons. First of all, it costs a tremendous amount of money to hire a good attorney and could of left the family penniless. Plus even if they did win the lawsuit, the organization could have declared bankruptcy rather than pay, and they did that before. And after the trial, she didn't trust the PR court system to help her out anyway. Yeah they deserved to be sued but the family had way more to lose than gain in reality.

It was a hit. Brody had enough Invader 1 years before in WWE or something, and he invested in wwc, and wanted to make changes to help benefit himself and others, but cologne and the other partners do not want to make said changes. Brody wanted out and he wanted his money, so he was murdered. As for his bullying tactics it was only in the ring and if you didn't sell for him or if the promoter was trying to screw him out of his money, he would leave the territory or cause the match to end prematurely. There is a book about his life and death that is a very good read. It really gives a behind the scenes look at the man.

Then you add money in to the situation because they owed brody a ton of money it was a recipe for disaster. Then you read how they payed off the rescue workers to wait so he would bleed out more because they wanted him dead its awful. You also read they had a witness who later went in to hiding or was payed off because her child was one of the kids payed to take the weapon to the river again just a horrible series of events.
