The meaning of Crown of Clay:
In Nigeria we have many potters ( people who make clay sculptures). So that's what was used for making plates, pots and other utensils in the time of old. So he is basically saying his dad made him a king 🤴. Mainly king of the land. It is figuratively speaking. And it's not mud the way you see it. That's why he said his dad fashioned him a crown of clay. Like saying my dad thought me to be a king. 🤣🤣🤣 Steve with the outside analogy. #SteveBussaGS let's go #GSgang

A crown of clay is also a reference to the fact that his father decided not to crown him with just a crown of gold (signifies riches in Africa) ... Instead he crowned him with the very essence of the land ... He crowned him king of the earth with earth... How much deeper can it get....

"Crown of clay" I would say is an allusion to the biblical creation tale. God made man from dust (clay) in the bible and breath life into man. So imagine now making a crown of clay, crown depicts royalty. A crown made from the same material which you are supposedly formed from is an allusion to the fact that you are already royalty. Which I believe is the theme of the song all through. Black king. Black queen.

They just destroyed it (library of Alexandria, Timbuktu, Benin empire, Igbo ukwu, NOK, Nubia, Axum, Egypt) and don't allow us teach what we know in our public schools. Yes they don't allow us teach. When I was in school my state governor took a loan from France and part of the condition was to make french compulsory in secondary schools and universities. So french was used to replace local language. It may seem like a minor condition to fulfill but the cultural impact on the coming generation is profound. Why do you think in school they teach history that conforms with the notion that Africans were savages before the Europeans came when in reality we were embarking on expeditions to America ( Mansa Musa's father commissioned one expedition and was part of the second. He became ruler when his father left for the second expedition). The great Benin wall was three times the length of the great Wall of China. The streets and houses were compared to the streets of Amsterdam (one of the richest cities in Europe due to the tulip trade which was once worth more than its weight in gold). How about the witnessing of a cesarean section in Congo before the Europeans knew what an anaesthetic was. There are many remarkable feats of cultural advancement which we as Africans have forgotten.

Africans are rich culturally, religiously, and he always don’t want to exclude the way of his people off his crafts (music).
Check out one of his track title “KING KONG” where he infused one of the Nigeria indigenous sound called “ATILOGUN” with Amenrican sound called “TRAP” together. Mango Park is the name of a European explorer who supposedly discovered the source of the River Niger which is weird because people had always lived and made use of the water in that region of Nigeria. That's why M.I graciously extended the middle finger to Mungo Park's "legacy".

If you hear MI's verse towards the end he spoke about 'Mungo Park' and stuff.MI said "i discovered hidden flows who the fuck is Mungo Park". He Mungo Park was a Scottish explorer that discovered a major river in Nigeria (river Niger) that locals already fish there, just like they discovered America 😆 with native Indians already living there. But. That's all bullshit you know.. they just came to steal. So M saying he discovered hidden flows, that's bars and Mungu Park discovered river Niger. So Mi is just saying he's even more relevant than Mungo Park as regards to discoveries. so the crown of Clay from the contexts of the track simply mean. We don't give a fuck about technology and all the white man makes seem so relevant. But back to the ways of the ancestors... You know, nòt that a crown of Clay is a Nigerian thing. You dig, like from the cover art you see a Crown made of clay with traditional elements like the Cowrie on it. Like it's still a crown regardless what it's made from still it commands respect

Heavy religious undertones. Clay is the source element from which all life forms were fashioned according to the bible. Crown of clay means you are a King forever. Water baptism is a common practice here in Nigeria. M.I is the goat but Vector ate this beat. "King no dey japa, People of Opobo, This king is jaja. Story of a slave to a king". "Japa" means to run away. King Jaja of Opobo was one of the ancient kings who stood their ground back in the ancient times and didn't run away. He also started out as a slave, literally. I know this cause I'm actually from Opobo Town!
"I discovered hidden flows, tell me who the fuck is Mungo Park?" Mungo Park was a Scottish explorer of West Africa. After an exploration of the upper Niger River around 1796, he wrote a popular and influential travel book titled Travels in the Interior Districts of Africa in which he theorized the Niger and Congo merged to become the same river. Basically took credit for discovering the flow of the river Niger which was a huge lie. M.I says he discovered hidden flows which is actually true. Also, the last line on the hook "Odeshi dey for my black skin" means i'm bulletproof because of my melanin. Odeshi means spiritual bulletproof. #GSGANG

"I discovered hidden flows... tell me who the fuck is Mungo Park"
He's talking about music flows and talking about flows as in a river.
Mungo Park (a Scottish Explorer) was said to have discovered River Niger.
So it's like saying "I discovered hidden flows (as in Music flows but referring to it like it's a river. This allows him to use Mungo Park as a punchline)... Mungo Park has nothing on me"

Basically the crown of clay is like your father from the African continent teaching the son how to survive in a world where the black man is subject to the white man, that’s why the crown of clay is a thing cos the African man had to climb from not just the ground but literally a grave and had to be bulletproof to do it... ( odeshi means bulletproof)

I enjoy your unbiased comments or criticism of lyrics and delivery. Crown of clay is symbolic of recognition that is considered natural, it is believed that being crowned that way as a child, life's misfortune can't alter your star or destiny and you can't lose your crown in life because you also were made from clay.

Vector's "Soro Soke" means speak louder, voice out. He's referring to the Endsars protest when the people where protesting about police brutality and bad government, they try to keep us quiet, came with army and shoot at innocent protesters but them can't stop all the voice bcus there are many of them. That's the club house shit. Vector is crazy with lines.
