1. Respect for women starts at home. The men should treat the women with respect at their home. Kids will watch and learn.
2. A lot of schools discourage boys and girls talking to each other. That should not be the case. More boys and girls should talk to each other so that they can underatand each other's point of view and grow more empathy towards each other.
3. Sex education should be made mandatory in schools in 7-8th std. We might say that kids know everything these days because of internet. But internet doesn't teach what is right and what is wrong. It should be taught in schools by the teachers.

1. when kids see women being disrespected at home, they tend to have a soft corner towards them... they don't start beating them likewise... this is called generational improvement...
2. america and britain are woke enough to let boys and girls talk about each other right? now open the google and see 6 out of 10 girls in america have faced daily sexual harassment by school friends... talking to each other never increases empathy...it just increases your curiosity towards them...

Being just a 17 years old girl, I do not have much information about mentality of the disrespecting men and boys but I have experienced and seen, there is no age limit for the ones performing these activities, they range from 10 to 80 years old.
Ac to me, main problems are definitely the house, school, friends and most importantly media (including movies, shady content, UA-cam channels)
Secondly it's the alpha male personality, considering women to be inferior and when they see them progress or modernize , they try tol suppress the girls morally or in worst cases physically.
Thirdly the generation (1970 - 2014) has no self control and kindness, seeing women or children they're obliged to do the bad deed or think bad.
Solution could be started from the new boys out there , by not letting them prone to any of the above environments, providing them a heart in their muscular chest.
And for the already residing demons, by inculcating fear in their stone heart.

As a spanish speaker i felt so bad after hearing this news, i have so many friends from Spain and latin America and they have given me the same reason why they don't wanna visit our country.
First of all, the government should start sex education in schools and tell students about the seriousness of sexual harassment and rape. Sexual harassment happened with men, too, in the name of fun. In my school, one boy pulled the pants of another boy in the name of fun, and many girls and boys laughed at him. If people laugh at harassment, then people think we can do it with other people in the name of fun. Most men do this because we do not teach them emotion. If they show any emotion, we tell them you are a boy. If they do not show their emotion, then they do something to express their emotion in the form of a heinous crime.

I am from NE state (Meghalaya) want to share an incident happen in Delhi few years ago with my female friend she was walking outside her colony and a young 10 or 11 years old boy ask her much you cost she was so shock coming from a young boy she doesn't know how to react you can only imagine once that boy grows up into an adult when we were of that age we don't even bother talking to a grown up girl we see them as elder sisters.

If I don't get to normally communicate with the opposite gender for the long school and college years of my life it will affect me in my college life for sure. I too went to a girls' school but I never had this problem of communicating because I am quite outgoing. And yes, most of the male friends I have come across are good and respectful and helped me whenever I needed. Then again, there is also a large section who thinks lowly of a women and connects that to masculinity or 'sanskar' and they are the one for whom our country has become so unsafe for women.

These incidents occurred in different places, time , year but the common part of all these incidents was "lust" . Some precautions which I think can be adopted are -
1. Increasing the surveillance of the streets and regular monitoring of it .
2. SEX EDUCATION this topic should be openly discussed.
3. Beti bachao program for educating and protecting the girl child then SAMAJ bachao program for educating both girls and boys to respect each other .
There are soo many programs which should be actively organized and participate on school level
It's a sad fact that every girl has got the "bad touch" once or more than once in her life , It's traumatizing

These workers were mostly around 50 years old and had little to no education. As they gathered to eat in a group, I noticed them passing lewd comments and staring at the young female waitresses who were serving food. These waitresses were in their early twenties, and the workers' behavior towards them was disrespectful and inappropriate.

I often think about this issue because a lot of students talk like molesters when they see any girl just passing by and I feel very bad because when we discuss the mentality of the rapists or molesters, it is the same mentality. I feel sometimes that the government should change the lifestyle of a student, for example, how some countries keep it mandatory to serve in the military likewise there should be a system where all students have to be in the hostel since childhood and should be given the best teachers as well as they should be taught everything accountable and ethical they should know. By this, the problem of women's safety would be solved as no student would be exposed to content that would corrupt his mind because we all know as kids we all had the same curiosity but it was because of our surroundings and the content we consumed which made difference in the mentality. #womensafety the gulf has very good laws regarding safety.People don't even try to think about harrassing leave alone raping.If our country had tried to implement better laws then it would reduce but not by much bcz most people's mentality is very bad and that is very hard to change.They always think bad on seeing a foreigner.Hence for women's safety, mentality should be changed first.

#womensafety According to me to improve such mentalities at ground level, it is really necessary for us to start that change at our homes, to teach our sons or brothers ,to talk to them about that issue and to make them aware of how a girl might feel when such things happen. It becomes equally necessary to take a stand whenever something wrong happens, as a girl myself, I too have experienced some bad incidents and really wish that someone would have been there cos I was too froze to speak at that instant. So I think if we really want to improve those useless people's mentality we need to start working when they are young and such topics should be thoroughly discussed without hesitation.

I think there must be some changes like :-
1. Vulgarity and nudity in the name of freedom should not be promoted.
2. Strict laws like death sentence or life imprisonment should be adopted.
3. Sex education should be given at school level. By sex education i didnt mean that children should be taught how to do sex but they should be taught how to control on oneself.
4. Some changes should adopted by learning values from kings . By this i mean chhatrapati shivaji maharaj not aurangzeb as we all know that what happened with the person who do any misbehave with women at the reign of shivaji and other kings like maharana pratap .

All I want to ask is if a person is found guilty in such case where victim is foreigner, can't we just hand over the custody of culprits to victims country only after proven guilty in our own courts. This may also strengthen relationship between the nations and it would fair for the victims. What are your views on this
Sorry but I cannot see how that is even an okay move, let alone a good move. Let me explain.
You are basically saying that if a foreign tourist faces any crime in a country, then the country after conviction should give the custody to the tourist's country.
Don't you think it sounds disrespectful towards the victim and the foreign country? Like from their p.o.v. wouldn't they be like "A crime happened to our citizen on your land by your countrymen and instead of taking responsibility for it and trying to fix the occurance of such incidents, you are sending the convicted to us." Like what would they do with the convicts? Indian court convicted them on Indian law. Now do you want a foreign country with different laws to obey indian judiciary? And if they take the culprit through their own legal system, then it is like India is adding unnecessary work on a foreign country for its own failure. And how would you even send them? Does it look good that a country is sending its convicts to a foreign country via a plane where they receive them? You realize how moronic that sounds? (No offence) And what happens if their family wants to see them? And lets not forget that the foreign country has to send the prisoners back via plane after they complete their sentence.
If a tourist faces a crime by a local, it is the responsibility of the host country to deliver justice, not to shift its work to some other country.
Other than the criminal procedures, if the host country is really concerned for the tourist, maybe it can pay for hospital bills etc for the injuries and/or assist them in the entire process.

1. Teach kids about sex education from an early age and about good touch and bad touch .
2. Implement strict laws on sexual harassment and sexual violence (For All genders).
3.Legalize prostitution or any type of sex work in India(unisex).
The crime took place in Hansdiha market area in Dumka. I'm from nearby District Godda, I can vouch that there has been systemic increase in crime against women due to illegal migrants from B'desh. They have been meticulously settled in tribal heartland by Cong-JMM govt as dedicated vote bank.
