    💗PLEASE READ:
Hey just wanted to pop in here as I am just reading some of the comments I noticed a lot of concerns stirring up. This book was made purely out of love, I made this because when I was first starting out drawing this is something I would’ve loved to use to “WARM UP” and practice while I continue to find my style on my own! This book was not intended to be an accurate how to draw book (hence the title “Warm Up & Sketch a How to Draw Reference Guide” ) it’s says how to draw because I recorded 2 full real time tutorials on how to draw the angles of the head and how to draw boys which are included on the QR code page.
The face guide stamps were not made for users to follow exactly but however they would like to use it. I also hand drew every page which took lots of time and effort and have included the video tutorials, procreate brushes and stamps for free, so I believe the price is reasonable for the time work free resources as well as the manufacturing costs that have to be considered as well.
I made this book because I knew some people would find it extremely helpful, fun and encouraging to get them drawing. It has even helped me to warm up which I talk a lot about on my channel before I get into my actual drawing projects just so I can get the ball rolling.
Honestly I knew some people where gonna have something to say and think that this would make you draw like me but, that is not the point! I have practiced and learned from so many artists over the years and I’ve still developed my own style. And I hope everyone who uses this book will find it helpful can do the same!🤗

Lots of people point out in which way this book can fail a begginer artist, but i will point my own note, the title says "cure artblock". I have been drawing for 8 years. And i hit the hardest burn out and biggest artblock i ever had. I cant purchase this book due to my location, but for me personality, this book would be a greatest gift. After burning out its always very, very hard just to start again. Each time, each page is a challenge. Even if you improve, little over thinking can create an obstikle for ya. But this book would allow me to just open it up and start drawing immediatelty, without any extra thoughts. So it will be a great took in helping with artblock. Saying this as an artblock professional.

Honestly nothing wrong with that… the style here seems slightly more anime like… which is a common style that I’ve seen lots of artists start with, or still use to this day
I think the point of the book here is to learn how to expand your style and help you with certain angles and poses you’re stuck on… eventually the people using this book will move on and learn to accept their own style… after all, tracing is used to help improve :D

That's good and all but that would raise the price of the book and as a beginner drawing, different body types are not a priority. We can't even draw hair and body types so why would we need all that I think the book is good for children and teenagers. And beginners who can't draw anything most tutorials cost 50-200 dollars that most people don't have. I need skin tone tutorials but they cost money where would I find one on UA-cam yes. Everytime I have an art block I take out my old sketchbooks and drawings and try to redraw them or draw the characters in my drawings genderbend.
If a drawing has a specific theme like Christmas, etc. then I redraw it and change the theme into something else, like Halloween or so.
    Works also pretty fine!

  • @lasalsssa
    @lasalsssa 2 роки тому +454

If you want this I’d heavily suggest for you to consider better resources, the art in the book is a basic anime style, which isn’t bad if that’s what you want; but the angles aren’t really anything you won’t find online and it doesn’t promote variety of characters. You’d end up accidentally having characters with same face syndrome and if you want to explore your style this book isn’t for you.
Something that can help you with proportions and angles within your own style or finding your own style is your face! Take pictures of yourself in different angles, poses, expressions, or have a friend do it for you. And from there you can either practice realism, semi realism or other styles. For example, draw your face but maybe the nose is just one dot or the eyes are bigger, etc etc. You’ll have more variety and no expenses.
I draw semi realism and cartoonish, and using my own face and body helped more than any other resources could. Not to say that other resources are bad; but never forget you have your own human body at your disposal, all you need is a camera or even a mirror.

Actually the art style isn’t basic anime style because, she actually created the book. So the art style she drew is the art style of the book.(you can see that they match). Also, if you draw cartoon like, you can still add things to the models that are provided, and this is just for art block treatment, not really tutorial like.

If u wanna go for more realism then just don't buy the book and bother to comment?? This book is obviously targeted to people with a more cartoony style who's main focus isn't perfect anatomy. You don't need to draw every little detail of the human figure to be an artist. These are only guidelines, if u want to change the shape of the face or body, then do that. These are basic practice figures to guide u so u can go off and do it urself and adjust changes

My best art tip for when you're trying to draw AND when you're in an art block:
Draw what you see. Draw the plants outside, draw your room, draw your hands, draw people you see at a cafe, literally just draw whatever you're observing. It helps build up your skills and mental library, and it inspires you for what you want to draw.
Don't do these how to draw books, they're garbage and get you drawing in a very specific style. If you draw from what you see in real life, you can develop your own style and improve as an artist.

@@WinkyPooks i mean if people just wanna use the books, hell yeah go for it. But I've used these books before, I still have some of these types of books in my house, they are NOT good if you want to learn how to draw in a more in-depth sense. If you wanna use them, that's absolutely fine, no problem there. But if someone wants to learn how to draw facial expressions, hands, environments, and all of it in more than just a few angles or without becoming stuck doing a style they're not comfortable with, then drawing from observation is the best way to learn. There's a reason why art schools teach you this, it really is the best way to learn art. You don't need to go to school for it, obviously, but being able to just power through and draw what you don't particularly like to draw or draw what you're weakest at drawing gets you to improve exponentially. Hell I hated drawing clothes, now I fucking love doing fabric and texture work from the amount of compositions I did involving metal, wood, glass, cloth. It's my strong suit now, which is nice! Still can't draw feet, but I'm getting there lol
Plus, it's cheaper to just draw what you see. Just paper and pencil is what's needed, or the tablet you use if you prefer digital. I personally had to go to school to learn art because I didn't have the discipline to learn on my own, but not everyone needs to. You just need to practice and draw what's being seen around you, and it will help.

what upsets me about this is that theres no real anatomy shown here which is the basis for all human drawings, even when stylized. this is essential for beginners to know because it will help them understand **why** they're drawing what they're drawing. you cant just show them a stylized picture and say "this is masculine and this is feminine" because that's not helping them with bone structure and how to alter that to create **unique** faces rather than copy and pasting the same thing
and, edit: those "face angles" aren't great because theres no fore-shortening, tho difference between the viewpoint on thd features, they're just shifted up or down which isn't how it works, you need to learn how to property shorten and lengthen a surface when drawing it at an angle.

I'm not exactly an artist-artist, more like artist-still down there level.. but if I ever get that book on my hands, God knows I'll draw female characters of the male faces and male characters on the female faces😂
Btw, she did say it's more useful for artblock and I can see how it is

@@evergreen9927 the book is useful no doubt but there's no rule that it had to be her book that I get.
If I really wanna get a book like that to have fun with drawing faces when I have artblock then I can just make one, shouldn't cost me more than 9$ at most
Her book isn't really a necessity, she never said it's the best or perfect either, she's just selling a fun product she made. Those who find it fun and can afford it can buy but for those who either find it useless to them or just can't afford it or find it too pricey can continue their lives I guess. Like me, I do find it quite pricey and will move along but still can't deny that it's a fun book to have around, tho not necessarily

You can just use printer paper and a .7 mechanical pencil. I usually use .5 though because the led is so breakable, it forced me to draw lightly and increased my dexterity. That should be enough but if loose paper isn’t your style, weighted sketchbooks are best. I hated paper that smudged too much because it ruined my art days later

    • @sablemoreno5095

I use multiple mediums. Though I usually don't fuss about the specific brands too much when it's anything but the paper.
      Graphite/charcoal:
I use Strathmore paper (various sizes) the 300 series I believe. Specifically the 'drawing' paper label. I will also use toned paper in grey from time to time though less often since it's more expensive
I usually use a full range of pencils H, F, to B and a graphite stick for larger areas. For charcoal I use vine and compressed with 3 B range general's charcoal pencils. The other brands don't matter to me, as I haven't noticed any major difference and i happened to just get the charcoal pencils in a set.
      Watercolor:
A range of watercolor papers all specifically labeled watercolor and at least 300lb weight for finished pieces; I prefer blocks over sheets but only current have the fluid brand in a premade block. I use wood pulp/blends most often, though for my nicer pieces I use cotton.
I sketch with up to an hb range on a separate sheet and transfer using a transfer sheet. If there's anything I need to add I use a H range pencil.
Inks: I use them in sketchbooks most often for dry media, though I've used blick Bristol paper once or twice and that worked nice. I usually use microns, though I also have a cheap set from Five below I use for fine lines. I also have an ink brush from Pentel, though I couldn't find the specific one I used as it was a pigment ink thats much darker than the ones I've seen available now. It's in the broad size so I use it to fill in large spaces. I don't often, but I've used the pentel brush pen also for inking outlines in a more comic like/line weighted style.
General sketching on the go I use mechanical pencils so I don't have to worry about sharpening. Theres three where I have a different lead hardness (I believe is a 6b) and colors (red and blue) though I rely mainly on the standard .05, and .07 range sizes and hb lead since it's easier to get more of.

I bought this book and it’s great, it really is. It’s a great idea and a great way to warm up to practice. My only thing is the price. For what it is- it’s insane. It’s the same quality as those Amazon independently printed coloring books so the paper is super thin. There’s not enough pages of the base faces abs heads to make it worth $30. It’s a great idea and I am all about artists making their money… but charging $30 from other (baby) artists for the quality and quantity in that book is shameful. I’m older and more established so I bought it and I’m not returning it or anything. And it’s not a bad book whatsoever. But most average people especially artists and younger people who are starting their art even as a hobby will not be throwing that type of money around and they shouldn’t be expected to either tbh. If the book had more pages and it was of better quality or it came with a link to the pdf copy of the book so we could print out more of our own pages with our quality paper… there’s a million things you could’ve done to make it worth that price or you could’ve made the price more reasonable for what it is. I’m not saying you didn’t work hard on it but I’m saying that people work hard for their money too and they should be paying for something of equal value. It’s a great book and I have and do use it but I personally believe you are asking too much with that price.

Actually it can help seasoned artists a lot too because they are usually in a hurry, and those who think "similar faces","unrealistic anatomy" and "bad proportion" are not probably "seasoned artists", because they'd know that as long as the joint are in place, you can make even the most stylized bases realistic in short time in comparison to drawing from scratch and you can litterally add any feature you want

That’s pretty cool! For those who can’t get this book however (I.e. kids, teens, or just too broke) I have a suggestion for you.
Whenever you have an art block, look around the room. Pick an item and draw it in your style of art. Say, you’re in a classroom, you could draw a desk, a chair, or even some type of school supply. The possibilities are endless. It also helps with shadowing, doing backgrounds, or specific areas you need to work on. It has always helped me overcome art blocks.
Before you comment “oh it’s to plain realism, doesn’t touch on our styles!” Stop right there. I specifically said your art style, meaning look at the object, and draw it in YOUR style. For instance, drawing a pencil anime like, or manga like or even cartoonish. You do what you want with said object, but it helps to get an idea on what to draw, especially if you don’t have an electronic nearby to help.
I hope it helped! Sorry if this is extremely long, just having it in one big chunky paragraph doesn’t bring the customers, space does.

You shouldn’t let that stop you. Getting better at drawing doesn’t just happen when you draw in a specific medium. You can stop drawing right now and still get better because your observation skills will continue to get better. That being said. Going into a new medium for something as basic as lines increases your pen dexterity regardless. So you’ll come back to digital learning more. And this book seems to help with concepts like poses, techniques and ideas more than it being about how to draw. Anyways, goodluck
