The chorus repeats the idea of “Sick of being honest/comfortable/guarded”, which implies that the singer feels like they are in situations where they constantly need to tell others that they can’t be involved. Maybe the singer is at a party or social gathering, and they want to have fun but they feel too nervous and need to tell the others that they can’t be involved. In other words, the singer is being honest about their feelings and it allows them to be comfortable, but it also makes them guarded from others and they feel lonely as a result.
I mean, that would go along with the music video pretty well, everyone is scared and confused by the creature, but he just wants to enjoy himself. The only people who seem to accept him, are the hazmats. Maybe they represent his friends who understand him and understand his discomfort?
