My father and I were at the game supporting Clare. Like most winning teams Cork got the breaks, we would have to wait until 1995 for ours. Up the banner.
God how did we lose that, having been league champions! We had to wait another 18 yrs for our first Munster title, which was the first in 63 yrs. JBM was a class act.
At the Munster final between Cork and Clare, three armed men entered the unguarded room, held up the Munster Council treasurer, Tadhg Crowley, and his assistants, and got away with £24,520.
Great Memories Ray Cummins a fantastic hurler, went down very easy for gods sake..id expect better...Mick lyons got a punch from Colm o Neill in 1990 football final and manfully walked away..👎paddy Sullivan cork. ...
I believe Ger loughnane played in that munster final. People forget Ger loughnane was a Superb hurler. It doesn't look Semple stadium Thurles in Tipperary. Of course I was born that year.
Ger Loughnane was a brilliant hurler no doubt about that he was a great manager also it was unfortunate what happened Clare in 1998 they got the raw deal they where robbed of the All-Ireland that year.
The best thing thats happened for Clare since 1995 isnt so much the all ireland wins. Its the end of the days that they were beaten before they even left home. Often the better team but cuter teams or doubt on behalf of the clare teams before the start lost alot of games.
To their eternal credit Cork were a seriously good team during that era but they had the knack of being able to influence refereeing decisions, as all successful teams seem to have. Some of the decisions that were given towards them in the 76 & 77 All Ireland finals were particularly dubious, albeit Wexford had their chances to win it both years and were below their best in 77. Some of the treatment that Tony Doran received from that Cork full back line was atrocious, they literally rugby tackled him to the ground & got away with it
How did it take so long to get rid of the handpass goal? Zero skill involved. Johnny Flaherty in the 80's. Back to goal and bottled up and palms it into the goals. Same in gaelic. Lasted over 100 years 🙄

What is Seamus Durrack on about. Jim Power stuck a head in Ray Cummins. Stop whinging man. When Cummins get the goal earlier in the match Power plaked him on the legs and the arm.
@@tonyflanagan8265that cork 3 in a row team knew how to play certain referees, as Durack himself said, they were cuter than us. Having Frank Murphy in the position he was in amongst referees at the time also played into their favour as they knew full well they’d get away with taking an extra few steps or whatever the case may be
If that Clare team was around now instead of the 70's they winning more munster titles let alone All-Ireland tittles. Clare hurlers were unlucky not at least won a Munster Championship.

Well for 100 years the skill or feat was getting close enough to the goal to be able to handpass while being flaked like a Bullock.

The referee has to go with the lines judges opinion and that's the way it is, red card, sometimes things go your way , sometimes not
God the standard was so poor compared with now, and Seamus Durack was talking absolute shite
