I loved your comments about size, scale, perspective. Yesterday my husband and I were talking about all the drawings he and I did back in our school days learning perspective.
Love, love, love those sweet little Christmas sheep! It's always so lovely listening to you talk. I can't believe your talent. Spinning your own wool and knitting....how rewarding! I tried to learn how to knit, but it's hard for me. I find crocheting much easier, but painting is the most fun of all for me :) Thank you for sharing all of the steps to create this charming card. You're the best!
I'm sorry to hear about this storm. This is the first I'm hearing of it and I'm in the USA 🇺🇸??????? I'm glad you are ok❤. That's just horrible 😢. I hope everything 🙏 well for you sending prayers 🙏 ❤️. JK FLORIDA God bless. 🙏
I think you have a point with the hot press paper. I have some Primeart hot press which is absolutely smooth. It’s great for pen and wash and brush pens. I also bought some Arches hot press by accident a few years ago and it is actually quite textured…takes paint pretty well. I love your sheep and the robin.
I’m having so much fun watching these Christmas Card Paintings! I’m going to paint some of them with a small group of children age 7-9 . It’s the perfect project and I can’t wait to see how they do!
I'm so glad you included a lamb in this cute painting...I just love lambs! I also just love the little Robin sitting on top of the sheep's head and the red scarves and cardinals...it's a precious painting. Thank you so much Diane! Glad all is well there (I hope)!
I just finished my painting of the sheep Christmas card. I did so well. Thank you! I’ve improved my paintings soo much since I found you on Utube. I’m wondering if you remember me. I learned and drew and painted your rosters over and over again. Then I mastered those damn rocks! It took me a while. And I found your hens. I love your hens! I can’t count how many nine by twelve watercolor pages I have filled on both sides with hens. Today the sheep card was easy to draw because I have had lots of practice painting a little counting book with the sheep. My sister hung a painting on her wall and her little grand daughter giggled each time she saw them. So I made her little cards, nine pairs matching with silly colored sheep. She matches them and plays the game where they’re bottoms up and picks two if they match you keep them Sister says the child kisses each sheep before she puts them away in their box. You can see why I made her the counting book for Christmas. My grandniece is called Alley. It makes me happy to paint for her. She’s two and a half. She is my favorite fan. THANK YOU! 🐑🐓🪿🐭 keep up the good work
It’s me again. I love your angles! My sister and I have made hundreds for Christmas gift tags. My two sisters and my daughter in law are getting together this weekend to make cards and tags. What fun that will be!
So cute! Brought back fond memories of my childhood on the farm. Every spring my dad would get us children 3 bottle lambs. I dearly loved the little lambies. ♥
What darling sheep you painted, Diane! I do so enjoy your humor and comments. You make it look so easy. A splash of paint here and a splodge there and voila! You have a sweet little bird or sheep or tree or bush, etc. I am afraid with me, my splashes and splodges look like something you find on the garage floor!!😜
loved these cute sheep in their holiday scarves diane. i'm really appreciating your 15 minuteish daily christmas cards. very fun ideas. now i'm going to make some sheep christmas cards for my sheep loving lovies. thanks for your inspiration. linda from california
My favorite card idea so far! Fanciful and fun. Love the black faces and red scarves and red breasted robin. Your quick strokes and black line work are always amazing to me. Great start for my day.
Those sheep are adorable with their scarves! The little robin almost stole the show standing on top of the sheep's head. Thank you for making me smile today with your lovely painting. Please thank your daughter for the pretty Christmas music it was a nice touch.
I've had an awful week which has resulted in me having to go back to hospital at some point so I'm loving your joyful sheep, tomorrow I'm determined I'm going to sit down and start my Christmas cards so this will be lovely to start with ,I was watching my friend at my art group painting Christmas roses for all her ' old ladies' she said, she must know lots of old ladies she had around ten cards at the end of our few hours in the pub, thank you Diane, you make me giggle ☺
Hello Diane, I have a SkillShare member ship now. I enjoy your videos and consideration of a fine teacher team, I can't believe there's better. Thank you, Theresa Brown I have taken pictures and plan to share soon. I'm going to learn how to use the picture on Facebook.
So fun with the scarf thing. I, too, have draped my animals in a red checkered scarf and it really does a lot for show. Thanks for the inspiration. I'll make mugs with the idea from my drawings. You rock, and please take care of yourself there in France, as there's lots going on throughout the world. Hug your hubby when there becomes time; his mission is challenging.
I love the Meeden hot press. I ordered some 7” by 4.9”, 100% cotton and I really like it. Especially for wet on dry. It comes under the name of Baohong. Good to hear you joking again! I find when you are feeling down, my BP goes up!
So cute... I'm enjoying starting my day with my coffee, my cat Rocky on my lap and checking to see what Christmas card you are painting each day. Love having a 15-minute project (though it takes me a little longer!). Thanks. Enjoy your day>
Barbara, I so agree with you. The best part of my day is Diane, coffee, and painting. I started painting during the pandemic and sort of stopped wen it died down. Then my oldest daughter told me I should start painting. She said I was happier when I was painting. I so I found Diane on UTUBE and I truly believe I am happier.
It’s so good to hear you laugh. I laughed along with you and will take that cheer into my painting this afternoon. Who knows, maybe I’ll make 6 cardinals. Most rules are for the unimaginative. Thank you for brightening my day!
Cute little sheep’s! Love these short videos Diane. Gives us several ideas for our Christmas cards. I was wondering how you were getting on with your sweater! So much to do. So grateful you are healthy and back with us!❤
You have hinted recently about some paint brushes. I am in the market for some and I'm waiting to hear what you have to tell us before I order anything. I love the sheep!
I have always heard that flowers are painted in odd numbers. Also I am a beginner to watercolor. I enjoy watching you as I always learn so much from your videos.
Simply adorable! Thanks for keeping me company while I make my Christmas cards.🌲❤ Do get 100% well soon, lovely lady! Always appreciate your videos and your irreverent sense of humor!😂
Oh, Diane!! I am mesmerized with your painting, but now I am in awe of your spinning, knitting, and painting! I just began to spin on an old Louet S10... looking rather thick and thin in my spinning. Wonderful, you have your own supply of fleece. I am hoping I get the hang of it, as I love to knit! I love your sheep and all the tips you gave. My last sheep came out looking rather evil. I think their eyes and nose were wrongly placed, lol. Thank you for inspiring me even more!!! Blessings, Kimmie
Thank you, again! As a complete newbie to painting I have to say that I so enjoyed making this one, that I stayed up way past my bedtime to finish it 😉😁 It's in the wee hours here and early morning for you, so I will say bonsoir et bonjour en même temps 🇨🇦
I'm loving these 15 minute cards! Thanks so much for doing them.😊 I do have one question. Do you see robins at this time of year? We don't. They've all flown south until spring. We do still have cardinals and bluejays. And hundreds of sparrows! I'm looking forward to your next card. Til then, goodnight! 💓
Loving this …… thanks again and again for your fab tutorials….. in my more active younger life my hobby was keeping a few sheep amongst the dogs and hens we had too…. So this Christmas Card really appeals to me…….it makes me very happy to sit and paint them now!
Very sweet, I love this card. And thank you for reminding me to get a bigger brush out to do something like this. It's really helpful. I keep reaching for the same Little Brush that I like... you know, the one that's handy.
My 88th. This evening I painted along with you and it was a satisfying activity. 😅 it took me more than an hour but the next one I will try to be quicker😅. Oh it was inclusive cutting a whole sheet in card proportion. What I made was a copy of yours and that bothers me a bit because I now how you think about copying. When I paint along it is almost unavoidable to copy you. How do I handle this problem? Is it al right to follow your steps or... Thanks for giving me a nice evening.😊 Have a nice one too 😊😊
Of course it is fine for you to copy what I’ve painted, that’s the whole point of the process in my opinion. Myself I learnt to paint also by copying better artists. What other way is there? Perhaps I didn’t explain clearly, the only possible problem with copying is when people who are supposedly artists copy work and then try to sell it as their original work. Copying in order to learn is absolutely fine by me, and even selling your paintings based on mine is fine too. And now there is AI art so it has all gone mad. So please go ahead and do whatever you want, it’s all good fun!
Two U's....😂 These are very cute! I'm an odd person.....LOL I just can't do even numbers, painting or otherwise. My TV volume HAS to be on an odd number. OCD??? 🤣🤣🤣
❤ In my growing years, my mom would get the real sheep wool after shearing…someone we knew had a sheep farm… So we handpicked the wool of straw, etc., then hand washed it with soft laundry soap, rinsed it well, then put some Fleecy fabric softener in the last rinse water, careful washing so not to lose the lanolin in the wool… Then we hung it on a barbwire cow fence to dry… Next we hand carded the sections of wool to make into rectangle sheets, for making wool blankets… we would bind the wool inside either cotton of flannelette fabric… All eight of us children, plus mom and dad, had an awesome cozy blanket…because we always made an outside cover for each blanket that was slipped off as it needed washing, and put on again…these blankets lasted us for many years! We were very blessed! Nothing like a real sheep wool blanket!
Love this. Decided I'm going to gift friends and family each a hand painted card rather than gifts this year. Now...just wondering if I can adapt those sheep into caribou as I live in the Yukon in northern Canada. Thanks.
Hi Diane, will you be posting the sketch for this project on your website? My eight year old son loves sheep and I was hoping to paint this for him, but my drawing skills are seriously lacking!
Hi Jessica, I’ll try and get it up on the website today or latest tomorrow. Let me know when you’ve found it! Have fun and I hope your son gets a kick out of the painting!
The snow reflects the color of the sky at any particular moment.
Wow, you use wool from your own sheep, that is so wonderful, Diane! I would love to see that jumper!
Love these baaas. So cute. Red scarves just set it off.
I loved your comments about size, scale, perspective. Yesterday my husband and I were talking about all the drawings he and I did back in our school days learning perspective.
Your sheep always bring a smile to my face…how nice to knit with wool from your own sheep…have knit many sweaters/ cardigans in the past
Love them 😁 thank you
