I typically do multi-take shoots of music content where timecode is supplied by audio playback. Audio playback starts, timecode starts at 1:00:00:00, for example, and musicians perform the song at the same tempo each time. Then you run another take starting the timecode at 1:00:00:00 again. Which of these small wireless devices, if any, will follow a timecode source like this? I know that tentacle sync does not. It just jam syncs to start with and then runs continuously. It cannot follow an incoming timecode signal, Can any of these others do this?
Hey Matt, thanks for the video. +1 on the Betso TCX-2 if you can get your hands on it. Part of my work flow is scared to go near any of these models because the internal batteries. There is peace of mind in the Betso design when being able to change the battery every day with no charging involved. Can you please elaborate on the benefits of wordclock and genlock? The internet seems to skirt the information about how these functions benefit a sound recordist. Thank you again, V
How would you judge the Tentacle Sync vs. the Nano lockit? I know that the Nano covers every frame rate there is and the Tentacle only goes up to 30 if I'm not mistaken. So what in your opinion would be the advantages to one over the other disregarding form factor and weight?

Firstly let me ask you which do you like best? I bought Ambient MasterLockit, 2 Lockits and 4 nanos. How do the UltraSync compare to Ambient? Thanks
I like the display on the ultra and it's lighter which is nice. It's more user interface related as both brands are top of their game
You should have added the Betso TCX-2 to the mix.
So what do these do exactly and why would i want one? Newbie here
Getting an Ultrasync ONE kit tomorrow! Very deserving of "product of the week".
how do you anticipate the newer version of the Tentacle to compare to the current models of the other three featured competitors?
+mattstartsomething sadly not as much as you would think. Basically Bluetooth control and there own network type stuff. Then maybe an app

they all cover frame rates up to 30fps which is the highest the SMPTE timecode goes up too. Will do a video soon covering it.
+Manch Cadwallader tentacle does all frame rates :) will do a video con paring then in different ways
tentacle uses inexpensive connectors, this is an important added value.
