It’s videos like this that make me miss being a nurse. I used to work with CF patients with the kids at UNC Chapel Hill. I always treated my patients and their families like they were my family. ❤️

Ollie is such a great dog for the service dog work. I can really tell he gets worried when he’s not with Mary. I love seeing Ollie and Mary’s bound is amazing great pair for the service help. Peter your a amazing friend husband, supports, caregiver. All three of you have a amazing bound which really helps with chronic health complications if you can find a family like yours that’s in it together!! For the long road!

I had an unexpected loss this weekend and honestly this is this first day I haven’t cried all day. The dealing with little things helping to prepare you for the next chapter is really resonating with me. I’m glad things went well for you two today.

When my son had surgery 3 weeks ago a nurse called personally just to say " be still thy heart" just right before surgery and those words reassured me that his surgery would go safely.
I wish I looked at life the way you two do. You are so positive and I cant help but wonder how. lol. Being put under is the SCARIEST thing to me. I have had over 50 surgeries and it NEVER gets easier to be put to sleep, for me. I always panic just before. You got this, Mary. I hope you heal quickly.
Niki, I look at it as a very nice time to be pampered and cared for, just for a little while and I get to take an uninterrupted nap. YESSSSS!

wow...I'm in tears like when Peter got to see her after surgery I was balling and also when Mary was talking about the nurse named Mel. Mary seems so positive and I love that!
Mary you are incredible. Peter made me chuckle when talking quietly about Mary it reminded me of David Attenborough in his wildlife programmes 🧐 and my heart melted at the end when Ollie turned to look at Mary when she spoke. Such love, care and concern in his look. Love to all of you and hope Mary’s condition improves. Have been praying for you.

Oh Mary I cried this whole video... I am so proud of you and Peter.. You guys work so well together.. You were saying the small things help you deal with the bigger things to come. I understand that completely.. My son will be 25 on the 17th of this month and is severely disabled and has had many surgeries little and big. I have found that the small ones are the ones I allow myself to fall apart over and the big ones are the ones that I overcome all of my fears. You Mary and Peter fill my heart with joy.. I’m not religious but just watching your videos and seeing how faithful you are and how accepting you are at the same time makes me so happy. I love to hear you guys talk about your faith and how happy it makes you and how much it helps. It is truly amazing and I admire everything about it.
You two mean so much more to me than you will ever know. I watched this video twice. The first time for updates and information. The second time I watched just to see Ollie! OMGoodness! The love and devotion that precious animal has for his Mary. He must be such a comfort to you. He drapes himself protectively over you and yet passively lets the healthcare team do their job. I know he is, of course, comfortable with you, Peter, but is it difficult for him when Mary is away, like in surgery yesterday?

Mary, I have to say you look beautiful even stright out of surgery. As a chronic illness warrior myself, I know looking good does not equal feeling good. You both always have such a positive outlook. You made me cry too--I have been in your shoes lots of times and I gave me a different vantage point of how amazing my husband is. You are at your most vulnerable coming out of surgery and for your person like Peter to be right there is always what help give me the courage to go under in the first place. I live with chronic pain. Yesterday I fell down hard hit both knees and road rashed my hands. Now everything hurts like I was hit by a bus.... so my normal every day pain was nothing. Your right I can do this and I do it all the time. You really give a positive attitude about all the things we have no control over. Thanks and hope your feeling better soon.

I can relate with the helpful pre-op nurses! In December I had a softball sized malignant tumor removed from my kidney, and that was a rough surgery! But my pre-op nurse was so kind and let my family come in as soon as possible, and gave me anything and everything to make me as comfortable as possible. I’m grateful for kind nurses! My entire hospital stay was wonderful(except for surgery lol)

I understand what you were saying about the nurse being so helpful. I was in the hospital for a week in July. My day nurse was amazing. I made sure she knew how much I appreciated her before I left the hospital. She cried. After I got home I wrote a letter to the CEO of the hospital and the charge nurse on the floor I was on letting them know what a difference that nurse made. A great nurse really makes a difference.
