yea, did not even know what it was so had to look it up. Yea very nice... I wonder...... I need to have one I think to test out and see if it is the new king since LG V20.
Ordered one... maybe getting it on monday.... I have 3 batteries for it and some external chargers although there is another option as well that seems good.
I was always curious about this phone because of the great midrange processor as well as the removable battery, but I am impressed that they took the effort to add in a vapor chamber to cool the 778G. I'm starting to really want one, it's just a shame that it is impossible to get in some regions(including where I am)
I have had this for 2 month in the nordic area. It is an amazing phone with seldom mentioned wifi 6E . Super snappy CPU. Once it gets to your area, you will love it for its longevity, sustainability and ruggedness. Enjoy.
Good processor, decent price, durable, and removable battery....Shame that Samsung doesn't sell this in Korea since I would have bought this for my grandparents in an instant
They missed a a point with this design - mainly while this is pretty straightforward to take apart, it would have been nice if we didn't have to take the screen off. As with the back able to come off in theory they could have put in screws on the back plate to take apart the internal parts. At least though it's much, much easier than my Samsung S7 Active to disassemble. As the screen easily breaks to the point that many phone fix stores don't want to try and fix S7 Active phones...
Oh hey! Look it is possible to offer removable battery, sd card slot, headphone jack and make the phone water proof. Such an invention by Samsung, boy I sure do hop they put this technology in their Uber flagship phones. /s
But, but, but everyone totes uses wireless earphones!11!1!! /s The reason why they don't put micro slots and 3.5mm jacks is because they want you to get you pay more for their services, like cloud storage and wireless ear buds that have to be constantly replaced due batteries wearing out or loosing the ear buds very easily. Because it turns out no cords = much easier to loose.
@@The_Mess85 Yea everything the mobile companies did years ago was planned and done on purpose - not what the users wanted but what the companies wanted and pushed on all of us not giving us a single alternative to choose for 7 years..... And people are still looking for something to replace the LG V20 which I got myself and have had 3 of since then.
I just bought this phone and now watching this video really makes me feel even better about the repairability of it! So far the phone is AWESOME! It's replacing my lg v20 and I love it so far :DDD Thanks for doing this teardown! It's well done and quite insightful :)
I also replaced V20 with this. There's a few things I'm missing but this is definitely the only feasible alternative to it. Just need to find a good version of Gcam mod to compensate for the shitty camera.
Thank you very much for this timely video! I am just reseraching my options for a relatively durable phone that would stay with me long-term and I am thinking of Nokia XR20 and XCover Pro. I am not sure if I want to pay double for the XCover 6 Pro but perhaps I should consider, if it's good. What do you think, is the XCover 6 Pro's repairability and long-term durability better than XCover Pro's?
Hi, its a tough decision, both are great devices. But parts for Nokia would generally be harder to find vs Samsung. If you are purchasing direct from Nokia, then you would be able to send it in for any repairs (you would have to pay) but if you get it elsewhere, they wont accept it in for any repairs. So up to you, but both are reliable and would last. My dad left his XR20 on the roof of his car and it fell on the freeway, got ran over multiple times before he found it on the side of the road and it was still operating fine, the back cover had gotten damaged and it took me 2 months to find a replacement lol. But the phone survived. He's also used the original Xcover pro for a long period and that was a solid device as well.
Finally someone went back to good old days of sanity. Like young people thinking this is new - like this was the good old days when sanity was somewhat still around!!!!
I bought one of these for gigwork. I run it naked, and it is a tank, akin to the old Nokia's. I've dropped it MANY times onto concrete, and minus a small chunk missing from the case, it it is fine. Not a scratch on the screen or camera lenses.
must be a different xcover 6 pro lol, i opened mine up, wanted to get the to the headphone jack, removed screw, wouldn't budge at all, oh and the screen's cables and all damn very sensitive, you can bust them pretty easy without a single mark or damage on them, so you got lucky with the screen here
Not yet available in USA. Spoke to Samsung techs who said the current version is called Galaxy XCover Pro. They couldn’t say when the Xcover6 would be available. I went ahead and purchased the XCover from Verizon, who transferred me to Samsung online to complete the purchase for $500. There are some differences between these two, primarily the 6 would be 5G capable.
Should be available in the US on Oct 20th. Also the XCover6 pro has better heat management with the vapor chamber but yep, the XCover pro is a good device as well.
