There's a whole community based around collecting and restoring vintage/antique clocks like the ones in this video. I'd say that Tommy is a very great influence on this community and an inspiration to a lot of us! A few of these clocks are ones that he has thrown together himself with various different parts he has bought on eBay at one point or another.
I think the octagonal clock is a Junghans. There was no trademark on it but I've seen a near-identical one with the Junghans logo on it. I sold this a few years ago.
The case is wooden and 19th century (probably either French or German), and the movement is a regular 1930s HAC Westminster movement with five bells underneath it, all of which came from different sources.
Yes indeed, as most clocks of that period had. Ones built in London tended to be more sophisticated and had minutes and seconds hands. Many people outside London didn't know how to read a minute hand, as they were not used to them.
@@jordanbusby6231 In 2017 I had to sell off a load of clocks to pay for plane tickets to go down and visit my fiancee, who was going through a rough time and needed me to be there for her. Now she and I are no longer together I would rather have the clocks!
0:22 I'm quite intrigued about this clock. I like the styling of it, and it seems rather unusual for it to only use an hour hand. Could you give me some background info on it if you have some?
The case is a modern replacement, but the movement dates back to around 1690-1720. At that time in England clocks generally only had an hour hand, except for more expensive ones made in the major cities. Minute hands didn't really become commonplace until well through the 18th century.
@@TommyWylie That's fairly interesting. I'm very new to the clock field, but it's something I'm interested in getting involved in. Thank you for the information. :)
Yes, the cuckoo bellows clock does have Westminster, but Tommy didn't bother putting the selector lever because he thinks it sounded horrible. Here's a video of it doing Westminster: ua-cam.com/video/Yd8zBGA1YUI/v-deo.html

The clock at 0:00 dosent strike at half hour
Where did you get the Whittington chime bellow wall clock?
I put it together in my old flat, from a home made case, a Haller movement, and a collection of bellows from all over the place.
Wow! Your amazing!
This is gonna be AWEsome!
No its gonna be PUN-tastic
In the second clip, why doesn't that clock have a minute hand?
I think It’s the design of that clock
8:33 Why this clock strikes the wrong hour? It strikes 2 times instead of 3
You are hearing a clock at the other side of the room. The Vienna regulator doesn't strike, being a timepiece only.
So that clock (8:33) doesn’t have chimes?
@@Chicago_RNo. It's a single weight Vienna regulator.
9:30 you were hearing this clock

What would u call the clock at 4:30 like to buy one
I constructed that from a selection of parts. The case was constructed locally.
@@TommyWylie Does it have Westminster Chime for this clock? 3:44
What is that Westminster French clock at around 4:56 ? Is it old (1850-70) or a more modern repro? Any photos of the movement?

It looks like a Vienna regulator of some sort. Maybe Gustav Becker
Is that second clock only supposed to have an hour hand
Yes indeed, as most clocks of that period had. Ones built in London tended to be more sophisticated and had minutes and seconds hands. Many people outside London didn't know how to read a minute hand, as they were not used to them.

3:44 Where can I buy such a clock ?
The case was locally built, the movement is by Haller, and the bellows were obtained from a variety of sources. I completed it in 2006.
