- A rare conversation with freedom fighter Captain Abbas Ali by Dr. Vijay Rana
Capt. Abbas Ali (03.1.1920 - 11.10.2014) joined Indian National Army (INA) led by Subhas Chandra Bose in 1944. He saw Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose very closely. In this conversation, he remembers the speech that Netaji gave in Rangoon on the tomb of the last Mughal Emperor Bahadur Shah Zafar. He says, he met Netaji at least ten days after he is said to have died in the plane crash. He expressed his unhappiness about the state of the nation today. At the end of the conversation, he told that he wanted to live and die in "Azaad Hindustan" instead of in London where his son Qurban Ali was living and wanted to keep his father with him there.

Subhash chandra bose was never a communist. Subhash chandra bose and the INA were revolutionary nationalists. They were the ultimate Patriots who made the maximum sacrifice. Had they succeeded there would not have any religious divide and today there would have been a modern state based on science and technology and with complete gender.
After all we all are from same country just the difference of political mind set and name of the country. We were never been different.
Last lines touched my heart.
I don't want to have my grave in England which enslaved us, but I'd rather have my grave in my independent and free motherland.

Gandhi was called as Mahatma by Kavi guru sj Ravindra nath Tagore and Father of the nation by Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose. There was some difference in thought in both great leaders so also with All other the then leaders but their aim was one ie. To free India from British. Subash was congress president. So any attempt by whatsapp gyanis will be futile and Gandhi will remain as father of nation while one likes or dislike s. Nehru, Patel , Subhash are all great leaders by their own rights and we don't bother about the pygmies of leaders of today's and their bhakts tells. History can never be re written by pygmies it can be written by leaders of great stature. History of lndian independence is studied by many people s of world and recently we have heard what prime minister of Singapore told about Nehru in their countries August house.

Even my grandfather came back in 1949. He was in INA too. Everyone , excluding his parents believed that he must be dead and his return was celebrated in whole village. He knew 5 languages including english, though he could study till class 5 only.

Captain Abbas is very lucky that he got a chance to work under Subhash Chandra Bose. The amount of his patriotism for the country speaks a lot. We only have read about Subhash Bose. But this man has lived that era of real patriotism which is very difficult for us to feel.

सोशलिस्ट पुरखे कैप्टन अब्बास अली की जुबानी बरतानिया हुकूमत के खिलाफ संघर्ष की कहानी को हमने सुना। परंतु आजाद मुल्क में सोशलिस्ट तहरीक मे डॉ राममनोहर लोहिया की रहनुमाई में कैप्टन साहब ने जुल्म ज़्यादती, गैर-बराबरी, बेंइन्साफी, मजहबी, जातिवाद के खिलाफ जद्दोजहद जिस बुलंदी के साथ तमाम उम्र किया, उसके कुछ हिस्से को मैने भी देखा।सोशलिस्ट कार्यकर्ता होने के कारण मैंने उनकी तकरीरो को सुना था। सोशलिस्ट सम्मेलन, मोर्चे ,जलसो मे 90 साल की उम्र के बावजूद जब कैप्टन साहब ललकारते हुए नौजवानों को पैगाम देते थे ,उसको भुलाया नहीं जा सकता। मैं अपने सोशलिस्ट रहबर जिन्होंने हमारे सामने एक आदर्श पेश किया, उनको नमन करता हूं।
