I’ve wanted to play this game for 7 years because of this video and I finally went out and bought a ps3 last night to finally play it. Take that 12 year old me.
Peter Hill Probably “moe-tie-nai” actually. Or similar. I dont think they have syllables that end in a t consonant but maybe its been too long for me to remember
The difficulty is fine, got 100% on the trophies, yes that took a while, yes it was hard as hell (literally) but the difficulty is fine. What the game needed imo is saving between the levels when you do sweets/maindish/hell.
Bruhhhh this just randomly popped into my head and it was a memory I had right in the back of my mind. I miss this type of content man, how the times flies
i remember this video every now and then, never the title though so i have to smash a bunch of key words together to find it. This time it was: "nercubed drop things burning game"
Really wish this game would get a re-release seeing as its not avaliable on playstation network anymore if I recall correctly. Really glad I bought it before then, such a lovely game. EDIT: Also was just reminded of something, love this game simply because you can sometimes prop up long objects against the big thing that brings in items, wonder if you could even fling something up there and not have it count as fallen.
Leave it to the Japanese to not only make a game that's literally about throwing stuff into a trash can, but also make said game so satisfying and energetic feeling. I might get this game at some point.
the boss of the final level is the earth! have only managed to finish last level twice but still haven't finished the game as you then have to dispose of all the credits in bin!
Mottainai is a term of Japanese origin that has been used by environmentalists. The term in Japanese conveys a sense of regret over waste; the exclamation "Mottainai! can translate as "What a waste!"
Most certainly the hardest puzzle game I've ever played. Couldn't get anywhere in the campaign going back years ago, and just had to give up (even though I really wanted to like it ).
勿体無い "mottainai" it means that something is "profaned" in Japanese, idk how to really put it in English actually, it's like when something is too good to be treated in some manner. It's indicating objects which are too good to be in the trash. Phonetically, it's pronounced kinda like "Mott ai nai" (all as one word) the double T indicates a sort of subtle 'stop' on the hard sound of the T. Just since you asked :P
Yeah. But not necessarily. The connotation is that the object is "unworthy of being treated in some manner" it doesn't necessarily have to be valuable. It could be, for example, a cimple 2 dollar pen you consider lucky, and your friend asks to borrow it. You might say "mottainai" to mean like "It's too special to me, I can't lend it to you"
..What does mottainai actually mean? I'm asuming it's japanese, but then still, it's written in romaji.. 持ったい ない seems to be about right, it's written a tiny bit differently in romaji, but it means "I do not want that.", which makes sense.. Anyone got any insight on this?

The memories in rewatching old Nerd³ missing childhood already.
Going back and watching all of Dan's old videos brings back so many memories.
"mottainai" means "dont waste it" in japanese.
How do you pronounce it?
Pineapple Player Mot-eye-nigh I believe
Peter Hill Probably “moe-tie-nai” actually. Or similar. I dont think they have syllables that end in a t consonant but maybe its been too long for me to remember
Was that the promise the Daruma doll's eye was coloured in for?
This game was a wonderful experience and a great part of my childhood.
Watching this in 2020 (the future). They should tweak the difficulty and re-release this game, the concept is fantastic.
Technically they have on ps now but you have to pay monthly or yearly
The difficulty is fine, got 100% on the trophies, yes that took a while, yes it was hard as hell (literally) but the difficulty is fine. What the game needed imo is saving between the levels when you do sweets/maindish/hell.
Best ending ever "what in the hells bells us that? I HAVE CREATED LIFE RUN!"

There needs to be a remake for steam or ps4
I'd say re-release since it doesn't look like it needs a graphics upgrade or slight gameplay tweaks.
I think the modern equivalent for this game is Tricky Towers.
Idk why but every year. Every year I come back to THIS video.
My Ps3 turned on by itself after this... IT KNOWS!

Mottainai, pronounced: Mow-Tay-Nay, is a Japanese word conveying a sense of regret concerning waste.
Thanks that's been bugging me since this video came out 🙃
So the word used when referring to my potential.
Pronounced “Mow-Tay-Nay”? Mottainai is pronounced Mo-Tie-Nie
勿体無い - もったいない - "Moe Thai Nye" is used Japanese to exclaim something undeserving of being wasted
run, run, RUN, RUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUNNN! HE CREATED LIFE!
Run run run run!!!!!!!!!
dylan foxx IM RUNNING
+dylan fox I'm running as fast as I can! \(O_O)/

If you want a job in the field of waste disposal, use this as a presentation.
Battleboy43 Being at least slightly good at this would probably make them think that you were qualified to do almost anything

Mottainai essentially means being regretful over wasting something! Hence why you have to be careful with it to not waste it and ruin it!
I still want a Nerd Completes of this

Oh my god, the old outro...I didn't know I'd feel nostalgic hearing it, but fuck me if I didn't xD
Dan, i bought the game myself and I actually read the in-game handbook, it's the Motaninnonoy that cause the big guy to drop stuff into the hold slot
i know what it's called, but he called it a motaninnonoy, that's why i spelled it that way, *****
+The Redstoner he meant the little guy in the bottom right corner saying the difficulty

the boss of the final level is the earth! have only managed to finish last level twice but still haven't finished the game as you then have to dispose of all the credits in bin!

Like precious, or valuable?
Yeah. But not necessarily. The connotation is that the object is "unworthy of being treated in some manner" it doesn't necessarily have to be valuable. It could be, for example, a cimple 2 dollar pen you consider lucky, and your friend asks to borrow it. You might say "mottainai" to mean like "It's too special to me, I can't lend it to you"
+skangus dankman oh, cool! I suppose you could use precious like that, to mean that something isn't valuable but has sentimental value.

Finally, a game centered around me
If this was on the app store...
23:36 WAT

Nostalgia warning
..What does mottainai actually mean? I'm asuming it's japanese, but then still, it's written in romaji..
持ったい ない seems to be about right, it's written a tiny bit differently in romaji, but it means "I do not want that.", which makes sense..
Anyone got any insight on this?
+Cowfaic'd Realm It's a type of japanese regret for when you throw away or otherwise waste a perfectly good whatever.
Flareblood
Ohh, I see, that makes sense.
+Cowfaic'd Realm I'm pretty sure that's like when you throw away something that was perfectly usable? Something like that.
