I don't think Buick brand will die, but I do agree with you about what's left of the Chrysler brand. Also, why isn't there any mention of the Lincoln brand, it's already pretty much faded into oddball-obscurity.
Buick won’t die, they might leave the us market. But Buick is huge in China so is Cadillac. I hope Cadillac doesn’t leave the us market. They only sold 147k ish cars last year.
@@adamhayden5152 I looked up the total sales for Buick the last few years and was surprised to learn their sales increased 61.4% 2022-2023. Total sales in 2022 were 103,519 and in 2023 it was 167,030.
From what I have seen large car companies like to have lots of brands. Slap different badges on similar cars to make it look as if you have a big range. Compare the Dodge Hornet with the Alfa Romeo Tonale as an example. Here in Europe VAG decided that having VW, Skoda, and Seat all selling similar cars at slightly different price points wasn't enough so introduced Cupra as well. I have no idea why as there don't seem to be separate Seat and Cupra Dealers. Some more news from the U.K. Mitsubishi have gone. Subaru is on their way out. Lexus isn't doing that well. The Jaguar supercharged V-6 engines do not generally have an enduring reputation of "grenading" themselves. It appears that circa 2014 there was a batch with bad con rod bearings that failed, which Jaguar largely replaced under warranty. The user experience overall since then (including two I have owned) has been positive. It's less than helpful to make denigrating generalizations. With that said, I too see a shaky future for Jaguar, mostly for the reason cited in the video that they have staked their product line on electric vehicles only, phasing out (rather than updating) well loved and highly regarded ICE products like the F-Type. I also believe declining recent sales have been based on two factors: lack of significantly updating models that sold well from 2016-2020, and pathetic/nonexistent promotion for at least 8 years. When was the last time anyone in the US saw a Jaguar advert on TV?

Tyler, April and Nelix---My very 1st car after turning 16 in 1967 was a 1964 white squareish looking horrible Renualt. The gas intake was located right next to the rear engine. So--every time I'd let my local gas station guy fill my gas tank instead of me doing it myself he would spill gas when pulling out the nozzle and it would hit the hot engine and the engine would then catch fire after driving only several miles. After this happened the 2nd time (I had only owned the car several weeks at this point) I was driving around town with my buddies and I saw fire coming out of the back of this Renault through my rear view mirror. I pulled this horrible car made in France over and luckily we all made it out of the car safely. After the local fire dept arrived the car was totally engulfed in flames and was a total loss. Needless to say, I never ever bought another Renault. It was however the hottest car that I ever owned!! PS--This Renault was without a doubt the absolute worst car I have ever owned. It was then obvious to me why this Renault only cost 250.00--YIKES!!

If we can analyze the challenges faced by the auto industry, some are obvious: carbon footprint issues, a shaken worldwide economy, developing alternative power systems, etc. But I submit this notion for your consideration: if everybody sells products that are generic, brand loyalty cannot develop. Further, particularly in the aspirational segments of the marketplace, a company that drifts away from their own history and heritage risks building lookalike stuff, devoid of any individuality.... So, who would get a Maserati instead of a Kia? Nobody. Lotus? Volvo? Rover? Ditto..... I'll go out on a limb: if these trends continue, within 20 years we will lose 90% of the current peloton of car companies.
Buick should bring 1 of their GT car concepts forward. Either the Avista (my personal choice), their Wildcat or their Riviera and power it with a reworked hybrid like the Corvette E-Ray has. A true 2 door grand tour, which would be a silky smooth luxury vehicle. I'd also like to see Buick bring their concept Avenir sedan to market. All of them have outstanding designs and could save the brand in the U.S. McLaren could build a small crossover that would compete with the Porsche Macan at a decent price point (no more than a fully optioned Macan Turbo) to try and save them.
Nice sentiment; I get it. But Buick bringing out some coupe that'll be outrageously priced and garner very few sales, will only hasten their joining Pontiac and Oldsmobile even sooner.
The price point on the Buick would have to be mid-range, like they are now, nicer than Chevy, but lower than Cadillac. If Buick could keep it between $60 - $65k like a base Corvette with one of those aforementioned designs, I think they'd sell a decent number. I'd give it some serious consideration.
Joel, the American coupe market is virtually dead, and has been for years. Buick is lucky to just be hanging in there as a GM division period, with their current product lines. They try but tyler is too much of a car nerd to be truly knowledgeable about much else. Thats the industry theyre in so thats all this is. Theyre heavily reliant on his hoovies garage fanbase to sub and like. This is what it is unfortunately
Random ADD thought: I think it would be funny if April and Tyler wear fake goatees for an episode, and never talk about it, next episode, no goatees...and never talk about it, just to mess with people.
We drove a Buick Regal for about ten years (two different vehicles). Then, GM turned them into hatchbacks and the driver's seat was horrible and you couldn't see out the back. So when our next Buick lease was up, we went to a Honda Accord, and now Toyota Camry. We haven't driven a GM vehicle since 2019. As far as the Chinese market, don't forget BYD and they will slither their way into the American market and then I see Tesla going under.
I can't stand to watch these videos, but sometimes I listen to them. Will there be more Hoovies Garage in the future? I have watches all (!) episodes since the Genesis/MBV12-area (not Tesla episodes).
I dont think Vinfast will disappear. They are essentially beta testing with the US market. Soon they will sell it in US as a cheaper EV alternative. But the car does have more issues to sort out.
My parents had Chrysler Town and Countrys (predecessor to the Pacifica) for years, great minivan, very comfy, and when it's wet, does a great burnout...lol
I was looking for a new car in 2020. I asked a Mazda dealership if there was any indication of when they would be introducing either a hybrid or ev. The salesman said sometime around 2028! Unless the Japanese car industry knows something no one else does, the question has to be, how has the Japanese Auto industry misread the market so badly? I see the Chinese auto industry about where the Japanese car industry was in the early to mid 60s, when you only bought a Japanese car if you couldn’t afford a quality locally produced car. The speed Japan took over dominance of the market by the mid 70s is a lesson, I believe,is about to be repeated.
That's the most ignorant thing I've read since I've left Twitter. 😆 I might have even agreed with you before I owned one. The handling on the Giulia is outstanding! It has a quicker steering rack than almost anything short of a Ferrari. I thought my Evo 9 had a quick rack. This is quicker. It absorbs bumps better than my friend's Lexus which he claims rides amazing but it was definitely more jarring than the Giulia. If you're looking for a comfortable, sporty four-door sedan the Giulia is insanely underrated. I just have the crappy four banger but it's super punchy. I've owned a F80 M3 in the past and I'd take a Giulia Quadrifoglio over that or a new M3. Also the four banger Giulia is shockingly reliable. The issues the early quadrifoglio models had gave all the models a bad reputation.
Important to note Lotus is owned by Geely, same as Volvo - and indeed the new all electric Lotus is entirely designed and built in China in Geely's megafactory just like Polestar - effectively a re-badged sportier version of their existing Chinese EV platforms. Their new sports car is still built in the UK. Anyay I don't think they are going anywhere either as Geely have invested pretty hard in them - but I expect they will stop building cars in the UK at some point in the next decade.
See now THIS! This was an appropriate amount of Knee Licks. However for future reference I think Jake needs to have a laser pointer so the cat action can be more dynamic.
I agree with your list Tyler. Sorry April, I owned a GN. Not a very good vehicle. Then owned a SHO (much better), then a Typhoon (got rid of in less than 2 years - junk). Then a Regal GS. Reliable and very fun after adding about 2K in mods. Much better than the GN. Probably one of the best cars I have owned. Better than Tyler’s Ultra!
There’s a common theme going on here: it’s no longer profitable for any company to make what you and I consider “cool cars”. The general public, the mass market in America, does not care about driving or style or performance. They simply want something to meet their needs for family and/or equipment/luggage transportation from point A to point B in economical, unobtrusive comfort. They don’t care if it has 8 cylinders, a turbo charged 4 cylinder, 3 cylinders, or electric or hybrid. I’m sorry April but the vast majority of people under 30 today would look at you like you have a third eye when you talk about that beautiful turbocharged 231 (which, FYI Tyler, is STILL fast by today’s standards - especially in the ‘87 GNX with the larger intercooler). April, Tyler, and all fans and viewers of your channel: we’re a dying breed. We’re dinosaurs. Car companies can’t sell what we like and make money so they’ll just focus on only what does make money for them. People are too consumed with tech and whiz bang gizmos that they have lost all interest and focus on actual driving. Us, the viewers of your channel and those like me who go to Barrett-Jackson every year to salivate and I consider that my Disney World are by-and-large the vast minority of the new car market now. I am 46 and just ordered a brand new 2024 Camaro SS 6 speed over the summer which was delivered to me in September……. I can tell you the day I picked it up, with my Mom and friends with me, that most of the customers in that Chevy showroom had no idea why I was so excited. Why there was such a big deal about a car that has no space for the kids or the latest radar cruise or self parking. There was even a few people who jumped in a not-so-excited manner when I fired it up and said the car was too loud. That’s why Camaro is gone. That’s why you’ll never see a Grand National again. That’s why all you see in dealer stock are boring SUVs that all look the same. Thats what makes the most money for these companies so that’s the only thing they’ll focus on. God Bless Ford for pushing forward with a gasoline V8 equipped Mustang for the foreseeable future.
Nice Jaguar pronunciation, just like the Brits. I'm used to our North American (US and Canada) pronunciation of 'jag -whar'. What I don't get is the way many American car guys on UA-cam pronounce it 'jag-wire'. I just don't know how they get 'wire' out of that spelling.
@@JohnSmith-rw8uh Mind you, Brits and Australians can't pronounce 'chinook' (as in the CH 47 helicopter) correctly. They insist in saying 'chin-ook' while the proper pronunciation is 'shin-ook'. It's from native American language so we are correct. 😁 Once again, I can understand 'jag-whar'. It's 'jag-wire' that I can't get my head around.
Alfa Romeo still sells cars in the U.S. Stellantis is headquartered in Amsterdam. Vinfast has broken ground on a 4 billion dollar factory in North Carolina.

A car for the masses is just about compromise, cost, and affordability. It's like asking an apple tree to sprout a mango.
Actually they are looking min to that market. A car in 100-200 000$ range from them.
I think GNSX with a Tesla plaid drivetrain platform would perform as well as the original but would need an external sound system to make certain the sound of that 3.8 liter would tickle our fancy.
Not sure about Buick, Chrysler and McLaren, but agree on the others. As Always, May God Bless you and yours! 😇
Always thought it would be a fun project to buy a horribly unreliable new car specifically to use for Uber. Calculate initial payment, downtime, depreciation, etc and see how far underwater you'll be when the warranty's done.
I smell a spreadsheet and maybe a good YT video.
Surprised you didn't have Nissan on your list . They have been so underwhelming for years .
How will the American auto manufacturers increase their sales?
Bring back the original designs.
1955-57 two seater Ford Thunderbirds
1961-64 Lincoln Continental four door hardtops and convertibles
1964-65, 1966-67 Ford Mustang fastback, convertibles and coupes
1955-57 Chevrolet Bel-Air two door hardtops and convertibles
1955-57 Chevrolet Bel-Air Nomad
1967-68 Chevrolet Camaro
Etc,
each car manufactured to original specs, but put in modern drive trains..
Tyler, you have your successful car's channel, that I'm a fan.
Why not to Give April to lead GMYT? With more interesting items, other than cars?
They try but tyler is too much of a car nerd to be truly knowledgeable about much else. Thats the industry theyre in so thats all this is. Theyre heavily reliant on his hoovies garage fanbase to sub and like. This is what it is unfortunately
How did they just get rid of Pontiac? Well, the Fed told GM if they wanted a bailout, Pontiac had to go. And GM wanted a bailout, so... there you go.
Anyone can overcome marketing, including Buick, the Grand National mentioned before is the perfect example for this.
Random ADD thought: I think it would be funny if April and Tyler wear fake goatees for an episode, and never talk about it, next episode, no goatees...and never talk about it, just to mess with people.
I love the 300. Everyone I know that wanted one and has/has one also loves them.
Bless you my friends, Love, Dennis.
As a UK citizen, I'm amazed at how Lotus survived but good luck to them. FIAT will take Chrysler down with them.
Buick kept GM going in the early 20th century. It would be sad to see the brand go away.
What do you think about Infiniti ?
What about Infiniti?
Infiniti needs to update their models real fast if they want to stay alive.
I can't stand to watch these videos, but sometimes I listen to them. Will there be more Hoovies Garage in the future? I have watches all (!) episodes since the Genesis/MBV12-area (not Tesla episodes).
Been to the MacL campus, beautiful.
Buick needs to bring back Rivieras, Electras and Lesabres to attract customers back.
When are we getting Neelix merch? 🐈
April you don't want to know where that cat's tongue has been lol😂
I dont think Vinfast will disappear. They are essentially beta testing with the US market. Soon they will sell it in US as a cheaper EV alternative. But the car does have more issues to sort out.
My parents had Chrysler Town and Countrys (predecessor to the Pacifica) for years, great minivan, very comfy, and when it's wet, does a great burnout...lol
I know it’s not Car related but I’m really surprised you didn’t talk about Toby Keith passing away
Those are not necessarily recorded on the day they are published.
I will let my local Alpha Romeo dealer know they've pulled out of the US the next time i bring my Giulia in 😉
That's the most ignorant thing I've read since I've left Twitter. 😆
I might have even agreed with you before I owned one.
Tyler hit the lottery
My grandpa drove a model T
I'll be honest, that would definitely interest me as a relic vehicle
OOOHHHHH...great show theme!!
April, check out the Buick Avista concept. V6 twin turbo that unfortunately was never made.
Alfa Romeo isn't leaving the US. They're just getting ready to present fresh models based on the STLA platforms.
If that cat takes a dump on that table.. that would be funny as hell 🤣🤣 🤣
April is very smart to get that on the record with Hoovie regarding purchase of any new Grand National. #GrandNationals4ever
Lotus has that same Chinese money as Volvo does, both owned by Geely. Edit: And Alfa hasn't left the US, at least not yet!
Alfa has NOT left the US market....(yet)
Yes the 4c was axed but they still have a dealer network and offer an excellent saloon and 2 SUV models
April looks great in black!
The American pronunciation is annoying, like the way they say Camaro. Say the second a like the a in car
Once again, I can understand 'jag-whar'. It's 'jag-wire' that I can't get my head around.
A local high school mascot is called, on radio football broadcasts, “Jag-wires!” I never understood it, either.
The Hornet was just introduced. Dodge has a long history of dodging death row. Yep that’s my two cents
Yeah, but who's the next Lee Iacocca?
WHAT HAPPENED TO HOOVIES GARAGE?
It’s still there…
Tyler is an entrepreneur who likes to put his money on several horses. 😄👍🏻
My thoughts also.
…a woman got in the mix
@@hertzair1186
Chicks, man.
Alfa Romeo still sells cars in the U.S. Stellantis is headquartered in Amsterdam. Vinfast has broken ground on a 4 billion dollar factory in North Carolina.
Alfa Romeo definitely did not leave the US…
They should put a folded up newspaper on the table to keep Neelix from roaming around.
Guys, the world is not the USA, Fiat is more alive than ever all around the world mainly in Europe and latin america. Its very frustrating to see you guys saying things about the world, just based on USA. Mitsubishi its branding themselves as a more luxury thing, and as well as I hate the Eclipse been a SUV and the Lancer been canceled, the brand is making this “premiumness” change and its working to Dell more luxurious and expensive cars.
Do a little research and remember THE WORLD IS NOT JUST USA😮.
I think the whole EV segment is in trouble. The companies that are moving to EV’s may be in trouble. The people will rise up against government mandates.
Imagine rising up for big oil. Lol.
Around 8:00 mins, iPace Jag is superb a friend has one.
Objectively, April's outfit is cool as hell. She looks like she's from the Matrix,
April in a new Matrix movie that would be something!
Good morning YouTwo 😊
