Heresy to say but I think Black Souls 1 is better than 2. BS2 is close to perfect but doesnt hit the mark for hours endlessly with a perfect balance. This game was a breath of fresh air and does not fail to impress at every turn. You really feel like you exist in BS1 because the characters and setting are so deeply ingrained in your subconscious if you had a real childhood. Every location is tantalizing and evokes a magical, anachronistic feeling. The yard outside Dorothy's house, the tea party, "spawn", and several other locations give me whiplash like seeing your childhood home the same 20+ years later. EMMM understood how to unlock a personal connection to the player and ravaged it in a perturbing but tasteful way. BS1 haunted me with retrospect to how fantasy existed in my childhood and enhanced it as an adult. Par to none game and infinitely impressive coming from Red Hood's Woods.
