Vera, in a talk given in March, has mentioned that fucoidin (from certain seaweeds) appears to upregulate SIRT6. Mouse experiment shows that fucoidin reduced frailty in male and females after two months of ingestion.
Hi Roger, thanks for the question and I agree that identifying a good SIRT6 activator would be great. Prof Cohen's company is aiming to do this, and Prof Robbins said that he had found a compound that would mimic the centenarians but needed to characterize it better before announcing what it is. Prof Gorbunova has said that fucoidin (the active ingredient in a kind of sea algae and in the DoNotAge product) upregulates SIRT6. So there does seem to be progress in this area but there is a lot more to find out.
Black elderberry has the highest concentration of SIRT6 activating chemicals (cyanidin). Make sure to eat the cooked form or the abstract. Do not eat it raw.
Hi Abraham, thanks. We did talk about SIRT6 at the time, in episode 4. I would dive into more detail on SIRT6 now. In some ways the field is moving quickly!
Hi Olya, thanks for the question and suggestion. We spoke with Prof Gorbunova about a year ago. She is certainly someone I would love to have back on the channel.
Hi Bob, thanks for the question. Prof Robbins said that the compound that he had identified was available over the counter but he did not want people to start taking it until it was better understood.
Hi Bob, Thanks for the comment. That is what I like about Prof Robbins approach, it seems like it may have shorter term applicability than some of the others.

Hi Peter thanks for sharing.
Feeding the UA-cam algorithm. Great video. I appreciate it.
What is the best SIRT 6 activator supplement (DoNotAge)? Can foods suffice? This seems like an important development.

Hi thanks for sharing. It did have a the largest effect in vitro I think. I am curious as to why cooked is better.
@@ModernHealthspan Uncooked is poisonous, unfortunately.
@@mesosuavee5498 Dr Gregor found this out the hard way.
I need to go back and review the Vera Gorbunova interview series!
See her March talk on the NUS Medicine channel.
@@peterz53 I'll check that out too, but Richard had a good interview with her less than a year ago on this channel.
@@abrahamnorthhampton3327 He does, and that's worthwhile too. Hopefully some of his guests like Vera will come back after a year or two for updates..

Thank you, your videos and interviews are very informative!
Ask him if the DO NOT AGE sirt 6 supplement is valid.
Hi Ken, thanks for the comment. Prof Cohen did touch on algae as an activator of SIRT6. I do not ask guests about their opinion on specific products.
Hi Richard, thanks a lot for your great interviews! One question: do you also use the SIRT6 activator? What are your experiences?
Thanks Richard.
Would be interesting to have Vera on your podcast. Wonder if she is taking SIRT6 supplements herself and if it indeed too estrogenic.
Yes. This is interesting. I'd like to know the answer as well.
Hi Olya, thanks for the question and suggestion. We spoke with Prof Gorbunova about a year ago. She is certainly someone I would love to have back on the channel.
Solutions?
What is the reason you can't mention the drugs?
Hi Bob, thanks for the question. Prof Robbins said that the compound that he had identified was available over the counter but he did not want people to start taking it until it was better understood.
American "drugs";
English "medicines, treatments"
In the new medicine model we don't have to wait 10 years for anything to be developed!
