    A progression of Richard Manuel’s unmatchable vocal work with The Band. I used Moises.AI for isolating Manuel’s vocal stems and then normalized/remastered after the fact.

    I so badly wish i could meet other people who love Richard Manuel as much as me. Tears Of Rage is what first pierced my heart, Moon Struck One solidified my opinion that Manuel is the greatest of all time, but that song sketch of Twilight where it's just Richard solo on piano has literally made me accept my own mortality. Death may come, cause I've heard Richard Manuel sing Twilight.

      Everyone always said in the end that Richard Manuel had demons, but anyone with common sense would know the stress of getting into show business (this is 1960s we’re talking about). He was a sensitive soul who got hooked on hard drugs, and once people started dropping, he couldn’t handle it all, especially after The Band ended up at a low point where it just wasn’t the same since the The Last Waltz.

    • @hannejeppesen1809
      @hannejeppesen1809 3 місяці тому

      @@richiebeans129 It is true that he was broken up when The Band broke up, but it was his alcoholism that made it hard for him to cope. Alcoholism and addictions are progressive, most likely his disease would have progressed even if The Band had stayed together. As it was there were several rough going when they were together. Robbie was always worried about him, Rick although his good friend, got very exsaparated one time after the went to visit him, and he was in extremely bad shape, shaking all over, very wired, he was doing a lot of cocaine trying to get off heroin. Eventually the cocaine binges gave him the DT, Robbie, Levon and Rick went to visit him, and Robbie wrote in his book, seeing Richard in that shape brought tears to his eyes. Before that he had not been able to show up for meetings and rehearsals, Rick and Robbie went to visit him, and they were trying to impress on him he was running out of excuses. As they left Robbie said if we can't come up with songs, we can always write a book of excuses, Rick answered "Yeh, we have 2 chapters already". Robbie wrote in his book how ill equipted they were to deal with that kind of addiction, according to Robbie, we didn't know much about addiction, and since all of us were doing some kind of drugs we were in no position to help Richard. Robbie and Garth however did not do heroin, they other 3 did.

      It's a live cover version of the James Griffin/Robb Royer song 'She Knows' that was adapted and included on The Band album "High On The Hog" (1996). This was one of Richard Manuel's last recordings which was supposedly recorded on January 19, 1986. He died on March 4, 1986. Several other live performances of Richard singing this song are available: "Live At The Lonestar, NYC. 1985" (recorded in January 1985), "Live At The Horseman Saloon" (recorded March 22, 1985), "Whispering Pines: Live at the Getaway 1985" (recorded October 12, 1985) and "Live At O'Tooles Tavern" (recorded December 13, 1985).
