Great video. My Schipperke was without doubt the smartest, most loving, greatest dog I've ever had. You are blessed to have this dog. Great job training this dog!

My mom has a Schipperke that's rambunctious as hell until I found out that they mature slow - They may have puppy qualities up until 4 years old.

Симпатяга! Такой умница! У меня такой же мальчик, но я его не тренировала, о чем жалею. Но люблю его оооочень. С уважением из Таллинна

Without a doubt the most intelligent dogs in the world. It's almost an insult to Schipperkes to refer to them as "smart" animals. I have had one Schipperke and nine Dobermans in my life. Dobes are smart. Schips are on a completely different level though. Ingenious is probably the best term.

So impressive. What is their typical personality really like? Is it likely to get one that gets along with other dogs? Is there any dog aggression in this breed? Aloof?

I know this reply is very very late, but if you're still wondering or if anyone else is, ua-cam.com/video/x0EuxbPo-2k/v-deo.html is a great example. Schipperkes are energetic and protective of their people, and if they are super well trained and friendly (like the one in that other video, it seems) they can be very playful and sociable with other dogs, but they are said to have a natural tendency toward aggression with other dogs that can be very difficult to unlearn. Apparently it's recommended to only bring them into a household with other dogs if you are very experienced in behavior management. Their personality with people is very different, though, and this video really is completely unsurprising behavior for a Schipperke with its family.

It is not aggressive to family members and plays well with kids but not a dog for beginners, they are perhaps the most stubborn breed out there. You almost have to break them like you do with horses to earn their obedience, until that point they will try to trick you or do things their own way so you have to be strict. They were bred as guard dogs and have a tendency to bark at the slightest noise.

    My schipperke did not have
a tail. I liked that part of him . There was an enthusiastic wiggling of his body where a tail would have been, if he felt excitedor as a greeting. I miss him so much.. BB

Hello! I also have a schipperke. Fluffy like an American and flexible like a European. Have you taught a dog this for a long time? I have Houston (my dog’s name) - the first dog. He knows a lot, maybe you will share secrets? I just love my dog. If interested, I can put on UA-cam what he can. It will not be so beautiful)

Your videos inspired me to pick a skipperke, I was a GSD person but wanted a smaller dog. I have a 4 month old skipperke now and I am inspired by you to teach her lots of tricks.
      Thank you

My little dog was at least half Schipperke. She was unusually clever, utterly loyal, and quite mad when it mattered, But I never made her do tricks, she was not a slave. I allowed her to be a dog, a wonderful one.
