Those churches in the Karoo are something else! 💒 What was special about this one, in addition to the architecture, is that it was right in the centre of town with beautiful symmetrical grounds. We just loved it! 🤩🚗
Thank you! 🤩 The pleasure was all ours, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We so appreciate the warm welcome we received that evening when we arrived, you made us feel at home instantly. 🌸
IT SO WEIRD....THE PROPETY YOU STAYED AT..... ONCE BELONGED TO MY FAMILY.....AND THE CHURCH.... I SAT IN EVERY SUNDAY.....SO WEIRD....AND THE PEOPLE I ONCE LOVED ARE NOW ALL DEAD AND GONE....I AM IN AMERICA
I love the dust roads and also have had many great adventures seeing parts of our lovely country. I took a dust road between Montague and Ladismith which runs parallel to the R62 and is about 100km long. Not one car was seen on the whole trip! Stunning scenery can be seen on a lot of these roads. Keep going with your travels.
Absolutely, we couldn't agree with you more! Gravel roads are highly underrated, we absolutely love them and wish we could always travel on gravel in clouds of dust! That's so our vibe and it sounds like it's yours too! 👌🚗 That 100km stretch of yours must've been an awesome experience, thanks for sharing that with us! 🤩
Baie dankie vir die toer deur ons pragtige karoo..my wonderlike Pappie en Mammie het in Murraysburg distrik in die groot Karoo geboer en daar het ons 6kinders sorgvry groot geword in skoon vars lug...DANKIE
You're very welcome! 😊 You must've had a fantastic time growing up in the Karoo! 🤩 We absolutely love the Karoo too, although we're not from there. Keep watching for our visit to Murraysburg in an upcoming episode to be uploaded soon! 🤩
Mooi onthou tye. Heerlike kinderdae. Speel in die strate by lamplig saans. Huis in Magrieta Prinsloo straat 26. Tannie Ena Murray en Tannie Paula ( skryfster) was beide huisvriende. Dankie vir die deel.
My wife says I must tell you she read many of Ena Murray's books and loved them! 😊📚 What special memories those are. Because we arrived in town after dark, I can quite easily imagine you playing in the streets as youngsters with the streetlights glowing. It is a wonderful town and we had a wonderful stay. 🤩🚗
Yes! The gentleman was extremely kind to let me film inside, typical Karoo hospitality. 🤩 The church is spectacular inside and out and the way that the whole town was built out around it, is quite fascinating to see. ⛪
We feel really strongly about the plight of the riverine rabbit and it's so sad that there are only a few hundred left. 😥 We didn't even know about this rabbit species until recently, so hopefully more people are aware of them now. 🐇
Amazing that there are people who still care enough to make a difference and to try and ensure the survival of a species. May their labour produce fruits and may the Riverine Rabbit flourish and multiply. 🐇
Our small rented cars do absolutely fantastic on most roads because they have high ground clearance. That's why we love them so much! 😍 It's not always smooth-sailing though, check out Episode 149, just after the Loxton one you just watched. I'm sure you'll enjoy that one too! 🚗😨
The diner that you visited looked like a Lekker place, I am told that the Rooi Granaat is also highly regarded. That hotel that you drove past has exquisite furnishings and decor, the one with the Solar PV panels on the roof.
😁 The diner was indeed a very lekker place! 🤩 We've made a note of the Rooi Granaat and will hopefully be able to try it out when we there next time. We've heard that that hotel / guesthouse has been beautifully renovated, but we didn't see it inside. It sounds like it's worth a visit too next time. We believe the building may have been the old Provincial Administration building in days gone by. 😊
😁 You certainly have an eye for detail. Where are the good old days of the fly swatter. 🪰 It's fantastic that you're watching our videos from afar, hopefully many more good memories await. 🤩
There is a street in Loxton named Margarita Prinsloo street. The fact that you provide the dates on the foundation stones of the various Churches that you visit is much appreciated.
Thank you for the info about the street name! 👍🏻 We find that dates put most things in context, especially dates on historical landmarks and buildings, so we're happy to share that info. It's sometimes hard to believe that people stood in the same spot more than 100 years ago already! 😱
@@DustBugsTravel as mentioned Sonja, the Stone Masonry on that Church is very ornate, my view is that the Church and the community in and around Loxton had big plans for the future of the town? I shudder to think what the cost of that organ amounted to and was surprised to learn that it even existed. I think that this video is the only available resource anywhere on the Net that highlights this National Treasure of ours. The efforts that Heinrich and others expend as custodians of this Church is much appreciated, many thanks to them, I am truly in awe. I see also that services are still conducted there, the Propane heater is testament to that.
I so much wanted togo to Loxton!!!!!!!
These church buildings are magnificent

An oasis in the topsy turvy world I always loved Loxton and I hope it will always be the gem we found many years ago d and s❤
What a nice extra to get the inside view of the church, and it's so beautiful inside, wow. Lovely architecture and attention to detail

I just loved the sunset and the news about the rabbit, hope they get people to help to clean up the place it is something worth perserving.Thank you.

Beautiful church…..yes!!
What a lovely place. Glad to see the hard work being done for the rabbits.

Very interesting
Hi you two. Wonderful trip again. Thank you! Btw. your "small" car seems always to do well on wet and rough roads - even in the dark

Everything you need, right down to the yellow fly plakker! LOL!! Such fun! Loving your videos. I am an expatriat who misses the good times of my youth

It was a fantastic visit to your small town. 😁 It offers so much and we enjoyed every moment we spent there.

Lovely town, Established in 1899 on farm Phezantefontein, owner was AE Loxton. Town famous of making Afrikaans movies
Great video. Just try to pan your shots a little slower so we can see what you want to show us.
A year later we are freezing in Gauteng. In summer.
Beyers Naude photo is hanging on the wall of the church. I think he was once a dominee there.
Yes, I believe so! He was still in his twenties when he was the minister in this congregation. ⛪
Amazing!!!!
❤
a place you can live in. REALLY!!!!LOL
Yes. Really. 😁 You seem surprised, not sure why you would be though.
Do you have contact details for the accomodation please
We booked through lekkeslaap. Search for OënaBo in Loxton. 🏠
