I was watching this on an old tape and thought that sorta looked like Regina but dismissed it. Seeing the credits at the end- sure enough, it was! I HAD to upload this! Those were fun programs.

Resnik singing "Quando m'en vo" from La Boheme and "Granada," and a Brahms song. Fabulous.

It's fascinating to compare her voice here with "Liasons" late in her career. She uses her low range beautifully, and her acting leading into the song is marvelous! She was a great lady and a superb musician!

Gertrude Berg was a writer, a producer, a director (not taking credit for it) and of course and outstanding actress who could do drama, comedy, situation comedy, the stage, film, radio, T.V. and "What;s My Line." She was not Molly Goldberg, which many people concluded, but a sophisticated, literate, educated artist who enjoyed an unusually long successful career. Regina Resnik of course will forever be known as a peerless artist but also a fabulous and vibrant personality, awesome and loveable at the same time.

watched this yesterday via a link from Fred Plotkin's WQXR wonderful tribute. I probably saw it in "real time"....
He also had a link to a fascinating documentary she did on the history of the Venetian ghetto.

I believe this was during the period when Regina Resnik was transitioning from a soprano to a mezzo. In either case she was a superb singer.

Gertrude Berg had exquisite taste in music. Not only did she choose the beautiful Rimpianto (more commonly known as Toselli's Serenade) for opening and closing credits, the first Aria heard is Musetta's waltz from Puccini's La Boheme (later popularized as Don't You Know by Della Reese), then at the concert Augustine Lara's Granada (popularized by Mario Lanza in the 1950s and by Sinatra in the 1960s in a jazzier version), and lastly Lullaby also known as Cradle Song by Brahms. The references to Eva, ZsaZsa and Magda were obviously to the Gabor sisters, the age differences weren't right, but I was surprised to learn that they were from a Jewish family -- Hungary I knew about. So Miss Berg was also loyal to her Jewish "landsmen" from Europe. I'm Italian-American but I like and respect loyalty, as well as good taste.

ms resnik also sings a brief excerpt from "mein herr marquis" (also known as adele's laughing song) from "die fledermaus" by johann strauss ii, ironically a role that she probably never would have sung, as she would have been cast as prince orlofsky in that operetta.

@@canamus1768 actually she was still a soprano in this 1954 appearance here, and was singing the role of Rosalinda in Fledermaus. She sang it 17 times at the Met.

The great Philip Loeb (playing Molly's husband) tragically took his life, after his career was destroyed by the infamous Blacklist...a shameful period in entertainment history..

Delightful - but resnick looked older than her father. Love resnick - probably had one of the highest iq’s of all opera singers.
