This show reminds me of when our grandparents used to visit. Sometimes we'd get the Parcheesi board out or checkers, and we'd talk about anything going on and current events. Those days are gone now, with everybody using their phone, and yes, I'm guilty of it too. I think of Gertrude Berg if she was alive now, and technology she'd likely use in writing the show, but I think she'd be shocked at the state of social life in the country. I was lucky enough to have my maternal Great-Grandmother and Great-Grandfather and a couple Great-Uncles who lived long enough so I could get to know them. Sad that when I think of them, that I could have recorded their wisdom down by writing or recording it. You never think of that when they are still living. Same as with a neighbor who had so many stories to tell about his time in the Vietnam War. He passed with Alzheimer's Disease so his life story passed with him. 🕊Rest In Peace🕊
I live in this part of the Bronx, just south of Tremont Avenue in West Farms. When Molly leaned out the window she could hear Regina Resnick. If I were to lean out the window I would be bombarded by nothing but a continuous loop of the same raucously monotonous merengue music, every day of the week until the wee hours of the morning. I fully understand why the Goldbergs moved out to Long Island.
Soprano Regina Resnik (August 30, 1922 - August 8, 2013) was born in The Bronx, New York City to impoverished Ukrainian immigrants who had just arrived in New York. Resnik had an active international career that spanned five decades.
People were so well dressed when they were at home. Nowadays people hang out barefoot, wearing a dirty torn t-shirt. Their rooms are overflowing with all kinds of junk, plastic toys, fast food containers, clothes on the floor, etc. People have lost any sense of personal decorum.
This episode is about a father of a GROWN, MARRIED daughter who does NOT love his daughter and seeks to destroy her MARRIAGE. The father is also wanting to live out his life, by HEARTLESSLY USING his daughter for his OWN PURPOSES. There is NO HIGHER calling than to be a wife and mother according to Proverbs 31:10-31.
One of my old time FAVORITE Shows.
I remember this show as if it were on yesterday.
A.K.A. -Tillie Edelstein.
The entire cast is a treat to watch and hear. The scripts are always pertinent to everyday events and living.

That may be true for some, but not everyone.

The daughter is being the "ideal" Fifties wife, giving up all for hubby, ironically they are played by career women, actresses.
