Hi Friend, thanks for the review. I'm able to buy a 6th gen with specs: Intel Core i7-8650U @1,90 GHz 8 GB memory 512 GB SSD 14″ QHD IPS display (2560 x 1440) But is that even possible this screen in combination with the 8 GB memory because in your video the combination of the screen and memory of 8GB isn't mentioned on the Lenovo site. Looking forward to receiving your reply.
Here’s what happened I bought this laptop in April 17 and after I receive it ; everything was amazing I mean the design the keyboards was great. However, when I started browsing on Google Chrome or updating my windows the fan go very loud and the temperature reaches 95° which is unacceptable. Finally, I decide to return the device today and I called Lenovo to process the refund. So be careful throttling is a serious issue on this device !!
@@icywinterwind3219 I actually tend to agree with you. I wouldn't personally repaste, but if it's operating at 95 degrees from just updating your computer that's not at all normal imo. My experience has actually been really good so far (6th gen).
some of the information you giving is wrong. example onboard ram means you can't take out/upgrade ram. also with clock speed 1.8 is just low that does not mean it always stays at 1.8 highest i think it can go is 4.0. correct me if i am wrong.
HELLO what would you do? Would you recommend getting the i7-8650 for the X1 Carbon 6th gen? Concerned about thermals and throlling. Was thinking about undervolting it and using higher grade thermal paste. What would you do?
fan noise? i didn't hear none at all when I was using it. Forgot to mention that as well as the heating. I'm posting up some heating video on my instagram tonight. It gets very hot around the section where the power button is located and where vents are in the back. For the screen having PWM, I didn't notice it, but next time I will test and look for it. Thanks for watching.
Does the non back lit keyboard have a textured surface like the T series? The T series has a antimicrobial textured keyboard (for non back lit only) Also is this a 3:2 or 16:9 or 16:10?
I'm assuming you can get Debian installed on this machine, but might have some issue getting the drivers to work correctly. If you do go down that path make sure to capture a clean and stable backup of Windows 10 with this machine before installing Debian. If you want you can try to do dual partition and see if it works before doing a complete full install.
I have installed OpenBSD 6.5 on X1 Carbon(2018) everything works fine except for finger print authentication. However you should download and install Intel wifi firmware (iwm driver) separately.
Hi, buddy. Do you have overheating issue and thermal throttling with this laptop while plugging it in? The fan noise becomes hearable when I plug it in.
the week I used this machine at the job and at home i didn't have any issues with the fan. Heating was normal around certain areas on the laptop which I posted up the FLIR heat video here if you are interested in viewing it. btnhd.com/ThinkPadX1CarbonHeatClip
Hey techbros!!!, if you are wondering about how hot this machine gets I posted up a quick clip on the my Instagram account. I totally forgot to mention it on the video. btnhd.com/ThinkPadX1CarbonHeatClip enjoy!
Depends on what you will use it for. When you will store more pictures, videos, movies,... the 1tb won't be overkill. However when it is used to work and only store documents the 256gb or 500 gb is just fine
Bought it, and returned it. The laptop construction is incredible. The HDR screen and the keyboard are unmatched. LTE was also great. However, within a week I got 3 blue screen crashes. The first happened 6 hours after receiving and setting up the machine. Wouldn't boot and I needed to reinstall the OS. The second blue screen showed up 3 days later. And the last blue screen within a week. I've been on Mac OS since 2009, and haven't dealt with any of that in forever. Windows 10 is just hot garbage. I attempted Ubuntu for a day, but deep sleep and LTE do not work in Ubuntu. So, an incredible machine, peobably the best there is out there right now, with the very worst OS in the market.
An awesome and thoroughly detailed review. Watching this from outback remote Central Australia (Alice Springs). Thank you 👏🏼👍🏼👏🏼
Great review, to the point, one of the best on x1 carbon review on UA-cam 👍🏼
Thank you. I appreciate the feedback and support.

5:10 😍 that view of the keyboard.......
NOW I UNDERSTAND why people love it!
If you're going to talk about the screen and its colors, PLEASE increase the brightness of the screen.
hows the gameplay performance when playing league of legends?

I ordered this in an I5 processor so I hope I don't deal w/ those issues. .Plus the 1080 screen. Maybe it's the I7 that makes it hotter
DG hey man how is it so far
I wonder if undervolting a tad would help with the temps?
@@EmilioFigueroa I don't pay 2k for a laptop that I have to undervolt and repaste to get it cool.

I don't really like this laptop except for the high-end-model. But i really like your review. Keep the good work :)
Which is better, this or the X1 yoga
Can you open it on one hand?
The LTE version is not available until May, the version you have has only sim tray there is no modem inside.
Can you please review the T480S and compare to the X1 Carbon on performance. Thanks

"onboard ram means you can't take out/upgrade ram"
I think you misheard him. He did say "can't", not "can"

I got one. It's pretty dope.
Great laptop, but How about heat and fan noise? Also if this screen has PWM?

There's no non-backlit keyboard option on the X1 Carbon.
Can we install a debian based dist on x1 carbon? will all the omponent work fine?

BTNHD can u make a video about it?
Sorry good man, but this unit was sent back to Lenovo once I completed the review on it. Best of luck :)
yes linux will work just fine. Use Kubuntu or something that has a windows manager instead of debian!

No it wasn’t plugged in I’ve captured that clip when it was running PCmark 8 (battery test)
my bad. I was actually talking about cup temp of my unit. I wash you can do a CPU stress test while plugging it in. Mine reached to 100C...

The link is not working!! And the heat and fan noise management is my main concern!
thank you for the heads up. link is up and running.
Is a 1tb ssd an overkill for this labtop?

No fan nose?
Fans don't have noses.

Lenovos ThinkPad or Lenovo Stinkpad?? 😂😁😂😁
Hahaha so i'm not the only one who heard that!
