I worked for a large landscape company back in the day... and our trailer alway came in light issues and brake issues... I made a tester that checked both, only thing I did not have was two seconds on brake check... Nice work though...
As always another great tutorial keep up the videos in great work
Might have to watch this few hundred times...
Nice tool
But I never trust wire colors, especially on older units
Darren, can you emulate electric brake gain when testing trailer brakes?
By electric brake gain I'm assuming your referencing the amount of current going to the brake circuit - as opposed to how quickly the brakes saturate once power is applied. This current version does not have that feature. In future versions however I do plan on coming out with the gain feature and also the ability for saturation current to be recorded and stored while breaking. Those values will be able to be read/retreaved via an app. I may even add the ability to record heat from each pad but I need to keep this thing affordable. We have to start somewhere and this tool gets us to the show. For everything this current diagnostic tool does it is amazing in diagnosing and finding faults in the brake circuit. I've been using and improving my homemade Frankenstein version for years. I finally cleaned it up and made it 'pretty'. I'm excited to get it out there for others to benefit from with all that it can do. Even without the gain feature. LOL
@@MyRVWorks Correct, aka dynamic load simulation. Simulating the tow vehicle electric brake controller gain (0-10) would indicate functional proportional braking. In other words, I can prove functioning brakes at full gain (saturation) now, but do I need to prove proportional braking at something less than full gain?
I am a bit confused about what you are labeling as traditional wiring. I own a 2008 f350 with factory wiring for towing my fifth wheel which works perfectly. I also occasionally tow an auto hauler or utility trailer and they work fine on the wiring as well. So everything works, there is no apparent difference in the three trailer wiring.
What I mentioned in the video is that the circuits remain the same but the color of the wire changes. This would only matter if a technician were to rewire any of the plugs. Here is an article from etrailer which discusses what I'm referencing in the video. I hope this helps clear it up.

Darren when will the seven pin cable tester be ready?. Thank you
The one we talk about in the video is available now. Below was a link. We have a few left.

No the cable tester you used in the pop up wiring video
The Diagnostics tester we are making for checking trailer lights is in development now. For that one, you will be able to read the current to each individual lighting circuit, check for ground shorts, and possibly even have a link where you can pair your phone with it via BT - but that Bluetooth feature might be in a future release if it's going to take us too much development time. So be on the lookout for it but it's not available as of today. Because the lighting one will be focusing on lights and current in each circuit, at this time we're not planning on incorporating the circuit for the break check into it since we want to keep the form factor kind of small.
I love this channel but I feel like I’m chasing a rabbit.
